  1. But eventually the market will be an issue. Guys who tow or work trucks often buy diesels, which Toyota doesn't offer. So the free market is in part also dealing with this.
  2. Not sure of Audi's mid level trim line, but I agree that the anti Cadillac bias in the print media is tiresome.
  3. Happy Birthday!
  4. It may really also change peoples behavior. how do the rest of the members here feel about having the guzzler tax apply to SUV's and trucks also? Too much government interference, or a good idea?
  5. I am perhaps the harshest critic of Chrysler on this forum, and I will gladly admit the Pacifica had some merit. ...and you all know how much it pains me to agree with SMK.
  6. Perhaps. actually Canada is going the other way with vehicle laws, as they have found that many emissions and fuel economy laws are having zero impact on solving the problems faced. The other problem is that you are making us into a nanny state by doing so. We already in some ways have enough regulation when it comes to vehicles. Besides, methinks you might be baiting Dfelt with the words "Guzzler Tax" and "Escalade."
  7. Volt is the class of the field here. Like it or not, green cars are here to stay. Prius sells 20K plus a month, leaf and Volt together are selling plus or minus 5K a month, vw builds and sells 7-8K TDI's a month, and another 4-5K a month are Porsche 918, Cruze Disel, C Max Hybrid, Fusion hybrid, Camry Hybrid, et al. 40-45K a month of Green cars is a pretty substantial number. Not to mention the number of large diesel pickup trucks on the road, which are much more fuel efficient. The Mazda 5 is a terrible product, and Toyota engineers are once again caught with their pants down with the Scion lineup.
  8. Hopefully they will rise slowly, so we can adjsut to the market. What we really need is a diesel Colorado/Canyon, a nice moderately sized truck that can out tow and out offroad a Tacoma, and yet turn 28 or 30 on the highway....THAT would be a boon for outdoorsmen, fishermen, contractors, et al. As Dfelt said, the pickup is not going anywhere.
  9. Females often complain because they want attention. It is your duty as a loyal son of o listen to her while you drink your morning coffee. After all, she did change your diaper for years.
  10. Sadly, no. Another classic case of GM having the right car and not marketing it right. Tell me again why Regal has a fantastic price on what is probably the best mid size car but sells so many units less than it should?
  11. Agree with drew and Dfelt! I really think the Volt is under rated, as is the Cruize diesel. My cousin lives in LA and drives a Volt...even with LA traffic and an active lifestyle, he very rarely puts gas in it. Much better than a Prius, IMHO. I just hope that GM does not give up on diesels because Cruise is slow out of the gate. It took VW a long time to build their diesel market in the US, that market will be there for GM if they are willing to work at it and wait.
  12. I seriously think 918 style hybrid is the future. The next Maxima, 370, et am are going to a similar system, and Ferrari has a system like that in the Le Ferrari.
  13. Buying out the Soul may be above her budget. Plus, she has no budget for repairs. A leaf would be an idiotic lease, its like $325 a month with zero down, figure $250 a month with equity from the Soul. She should have enough equity to get the lease down just trading it in. In fact, she may have equity now with the low miles. She might be able to hand the local Kia boys the keys, and flip into another lease now. KIA dealers want to move the Soul like people in hell want ice water. The salesman ought to paint her fence, sweep her porch, and change her cat's litter box for driving the damned thing off of the lot!
  14. Makes me glad to be uninterested in semen.
  15. Wow, I have never heard of a lease payment that low.
  16. They are highly profitable.
  17. With hybrids like the 918 taking up so much attention, the question is....will Chevy make the C8 Corvette a performance hybrid?
  18. Now that gas prices are down, the number one, two, and three wealth creates, F150, Ram, and Silverado are propping up the American auto industry and by extension propping up Opel in Europe which is a 20 billion dollar black hole. What honestly happens when the price of gas goes back up to $148 a barrel?
  19. There is plenty of volume and money in Japan, and Chevy sold fewer than 600 cars there the first six months of the year. Kind of hard to push metal if you do not try. By comparison, VW is on pace tell seventy thousand cars there his year.
  20. All I can say is I will be interesting to see heads explode in Wolfsburg when both Mazda and Mercedes's outsell Volkswagen here in the states. I would love to be a fly on the wall when that happens.
