  1. ford is selling a boat load of ST models, and I the Abarth is selling well. IIRC Opel has stuff that could be brought over. Would love to see a small Buick actually has a MINI fighter. I love the Encore, but a hot hatch in premium guise would be great!
  2. Glad to see the volt selling. Where are the arch idiot twats like Cspec who said the car was vaporware and would never be produced?
  3. How can the Fiatc500 get suchbpoor reviews here and still be the number one selling car in its class in Europe? I know American tastes are different, but....????
  4. Mazda 2 is IIRC the best selling car in Japan. Would be a fantastic choice. I did not include it because it will depreciate a boatload more than the Fit. But very well made and a very good price point for what it is. Much better driving dynamics than the Spark. Also, if your pinching pennies, look at the Mirage. For limited in town use, might not be bad. Available IIRC in some interesting colors.
  5. Why does GM not build RHD cars in the US for export? In South Africa you can buy an RHD BMW made in Spartainburg, South Carolina, An Accord built in Ohio to RHD specs, and soon Ford will be selling RHD Mustangs down there. Wouldn't GM get some great market penetration in foreign markets were they to ship RHD cars overseas? IIRC, the only RHD car GM ships overseas in the Ampera. How many RHD Amperes are sold? Seems to me that GM is being a little short sighted.
  6. I saw what I believe to be a 54 Ford Sedan Delivery.
  7. And when you cannot buy a non hybrid, what will you drive?
  8. Hate to say it, but Honda Civic or Fit. Hondas have high residual, and Honda subsidizes their leases. Perhaps..
  9. Those seventies cars regency posted are wonderful!
  10. My respect for you went up dramatically with this post. I love oddballs! Quoted for truth. On the contrary, we have too few unique car makers here.
  11. Road and Track and Grassroots Motorsports are about the only two rags writing about new iron worth reading in our country. I would trust their opinion.
  12. Both MB and BMW are so overrated. Yes and no. In your world, everyone would drive a CNG powered escalade. Lots of people want a luxury car and for whatever reason do not want a Cadillac. BMW and MB are orders of magnitude more compelling than the glorified Accords, Maxima's, and Avalon's sold as Acuras, Infinity's and lexuses.
  13. The bloody Germans love to overcomplicate things. It wouldn't be German if it wasn't four times as complex as it needed to be.
  14. Developing the idea further, GM, Ford, Nissan, Mazda, Chrysler (aside from Fiat) Mercedes's, Audi, Acura,Tesla,KIA, Hyundai, Mitsubishi, et all do not even sell a sporty FWD coupe. And Volkswagen is thinking seriously of making the Golf/GTI four door only. The ST twins from Ford are doing well as four door only. Other than the beetle, there is no need for a FWD coupe in the NA market. And even the beetle is a niche car from a niche car maker.
  15. Toyota pretty much survives on image as a competent geriatric brand. In Canada, Camry is like 27th on the sales list. Passat outsels it. Other than the image as a competent geriatric generic, the brand has little going for it.
  16. Then they need a product other than the current TC. But honestly, Toyota cannot build a car for every want. The previous Celica was a decent car, but it withered on the vine. Local very busy Toyota dealer only sold one or two Celicas a month. But seriously, they only need one sporty coupe.
  17. Bingo! Market the FRS as a Toyota and skip the Celica name. Not enough room in the market for to small coupes.
  18. Also, Chrysler needs to see itself as a mainstream rather than luxury car maker IMHO. Just like Volkswagen needs to think of itself as a niche car maker rather than a mainstream one. Also, Ford need to give up the idea that they have any brand equity in the Lincoln name as a luxury marque. Often times I think car makers are like some people. They hurt themselves thinking of themselves as they want to be, rather than what they really are.
  19. Dart in my neck of the woods is going gangbusters. I do like how you can option up the car how you like it. Only problem for me is that the chassis does not feel very sporty. The car looks great...I like the styling better than almost any other affordable sedan other than the new Impala.
