  1. Balthazer-your son is into guitars, my son is into guitars, we are both into old cars. I have been wanting to find and excuse for a new Jersey road trip for a long time...I think this Lincoln just might be the ticket should you get it.
  2. If Gm wants to win my business from VW or Honda or Volvo or MINI for my next car...they need this thing here. Hopefully before next summer, when I plan to replace the Wife's ex bee or (gasp) the Miata.
  3. BMW 1 Series Civic SI OF course, Miata Honda S2k Boxster I'm actually also nuts about the HHR panel I am crazy about midsize Buick, 68-72, esp. Convertibles. What are some cars that you all like that no one else here does?
  4. The rules of this thread...we need to name as many cars that we personally are crazy about that no one else at C and G is wild about. people may like them okay or hate them... but we need to find as many cars, oddball or not, that we are the only people who are nuts about them. Here is my list- I love the 1953 Ford, last of the Flatheads, and even paced the Indy 500 that year. I've ALWAYS wanted one of these since I was a kid, but have never had the chance to own one... http://www.chicagoclassiccars.com/inventory_show.asp?stknum=3334 71-72 Ford LTD ragtop...I think Moltie likes these, but he and I are probably the only ones... http://www.chicagoclassiccars.com/inventory_show.asp?stknum=3355
  5. Most GM cars run poorly longer than most cars run at all. Car and Driver said it, and it is wildly true. Sounds like EXCITEMENT...maybe you and Vipes can get together.
  6. Dude, the new Wrangler has the really neat updated V6, and the new Grand Cherokee is probably the hotest vehicle in its segment...what are you waiting for? You can laugh but I see some really well done J bodies floating around. You should follow up on this idea. Start by going to Tire Racks website and checking out some nice plus one wheel and tire packages, and think about a set of Koni FSD shocks. Please do post about this when you have time. Don't let the past whinging about W bodies keep you from posting what you have done and where you have been with your beasties. Also, the Cruze front end styling is really growing on me, in some ways I like it better than the Verano.
  7. IMHO the Liberty just trumps the subie to no end...and would also be a much better car for you than the wrangler. Keep us posted dude...I have serious car angst as well, as I am ready to be rid of the wife's Scion xB
  8. Everyone here seems to be thinking about a change of fleet. Camino is looking slowly at getting a better work truck, Balthazar is wanting that nifty Lincoln Flower car, Olds is looking for a car for Albert and a truck for his rental business, Dave 87 RS is thinking about a Cruze, Satty's wife is thinking about a Volvo, Roger wants a Truck, Ocean would be wanting another car if he had Jay Leno's garage, and I'm missing half the Forum. This thread could be pinned for awhile if Olds wants...but I would like to see if we could get a good discussion going on what we are all actually doing with changes to the C and G fleet. As for me...I have checked out and or driven a bunch of cars lately, including... RX8 Firebird Mach 1 (2003) VW GTI VW TDI Fiat 500 Hyundai Veloster Ford Focus Ford Fiesta Ford Mustang v6 Ford Mustang GT Camaro (2010) MINI Cooper S Ford Fusion Pontiac G6 retractable hardtop Coupe Honda Accord Coupe Civic SI Coupe Acura TSX Honda CRZ I plan on writing some C and G drives...but I am seriously ready to be rid of the wife's 2005 Scion XB, which now has 171,000 miles and is getting due for replacement. So What is up with everyone else? Regfootballs test drive gene has taken over, I am afraid. But I have two daughters going away to college uin the next two years, my oldest son has moved out...and I am ready for a less family oriented car once again.
  9. We need to start a thread called the looking at cars thread...so we can all keep track of what we are doing.
  10. Panthers are really cool. I am trying really hard not to buy one right now. My buddy with the body shop has a pristine 04 black gmq ..minimal damage...I can buy it cheap...fix it for about two grand and make it perfect....70,000 original miles., Melikes!
  11. Like I said in another thread...sometimes you and I think way too much alike....
  12. You just hit utter reality with your sarcasm... Taurus is a heavy looking design... Even the 65 Galaxie 500 had a light, elegant look...Ford has lost that... But the new Taurus is still a really nice looking car...
  13. Dude...that is just so cool in its own way. Automotive excess FTW! I'm just Jonesing for good clean design.... Methinks I see the Answer in VW GTI.... But this Lincoln has been showing up in many cool ways in my dreams at night. I think its (the 59) wicked cool in its own way.
  14. Honda is cutting back local production here in Ohio because of the parts shortage thing. But demand for the car is also way down, as other alternatives are so good. Hyundai sells a bunch here in Honda Country, around here the Focus and Fiesta sell well, and Cruze is Ohio built and also becoming common as sand on the Sea Shore.
  15. Absolutely...and very original. I also think blu should think about some aftermarket changes to his next vehicle...something to make it more his. And yes, now my thought is what a factory Baja Bunny would be like.
  16. Good to know....things are going well...
  17. I would already be put to death by the feds for my emissions of Methane... I am hoping...because it would do away with the Miata, GTI, Civic SI, Volvo C30 and the other cars I really like...ugh... Even the MINI can't make 45 MPG
  18. Now camino...I don't like to hear talk like that from you! This thing...at the price scrap is bringing...could have bought a new set of heads for the Tahoe if you had taken it with the title down to Ace Iron and Scrap or Columbus Car Crushing INC. In Ohio, we know what to DO with vehicles like this....
  19. Garden varied of sube are uber-boring. If a subie can't be driven 70 miles per hour sideways in a rallycross...or 110 miles an hour down a gravel road sideways during a rally...it ain't very interesting to me.
  20. You like VW...you like trucks...you need a small car...how about THIS? http://www.vwvortex.com/artman/publish/volkswagen_news/article_2976.shtml
  21. CAFE 2016, what will it really mean for the auto industry...esp. as the EU and Japan are also demanding better fuel economy?
  22. Glad to know your still at it, my friend...
  23. Reg...you and I have different tastes. I just LOVE the sound of a Subie flat four...
  24. The 66 and the 69 trump the 57 IMHO...but sweet cars.
  25. Would be a sweet little car...let's hope CAFE doesn't kill its arival before it gets here.
