  1. It should outsell all of these, it is IMHO a MUCH more impressive car than any of the ones you mentioned. Chris
  2. True on its shortcomings, but for what it is a damn fine car. Chris
  3. What GM movie car do you like the best- To me it's the Impala ragtop in Boyz in the Hood. What's yours? Wasn't it a Pontiac Grand Am or something in that really wild chase in The French Connection? Also like... The 58 Chevy and 55 Chevy from American Graffiti, the movie Two Lane Blacktop, and theTrans Am in smokey and the Bandit. Non GM car things that were obviously cool were the chase in Bullet, but I loved watching Dirty Mary, Crazy Larry. The ending where the Charger slams into the train I saw when I was like 7 years old and it was my first real taste of movie violence involving a car. That scene has stayed with me for a long time. Chris
  4. As a huge fan of ragtops and pontiacs, all I can ask is "why is this car not in your garage?" IIRC pretty much all third gen Camaro/Firebird ragtops were pretty low production. Get that convertible, you won't regret it. Chris
  5. Hate me for sayig this, but I love that paint job on that car! Chris
  6. Either way, both are horrible... We just need to get one of those Cudas out of your garage so we can make some REAL noise pollution.... Chris
  7. Pretty good for a 2.5...the 2.0 Turbo motor is supposed to be better. I've known people with GTI's to get into the low 30's with a manual. Is your car manual or autotrajic? Chris
  8. I like some aftermarket exhaust notes on the Boxter four in the WRX or WRX SRTI. Sounds like an angry insect in a good sort of a way. Worst exhaust note IMHO is the Nissan 240 SX... Chris
  9. I'd like one of each, please. A clean 442 Hardtop as a weekend cruiser and a SRT-4 as an Autocross car. We had someone bring a GTO or a 442 to an SCCA autocross a few years ago...that thing was a hoot to watch...but they don't like to turn like a modern sportscar. But that's whats so cool about being a "car guy" there are lots of little interesting corners of the automotive universe to explore. Chris
  10. Last gen Prelude and Saab 9-3 are both way under-rated. I've also thought of both of these. My friend Steve has a 98 Prelude in great shape he keeps threatening to get rid of, and I think a Saab 9-3 would be a very cool and unique little family car/freeway cruiser. With a Miata and a Scion xB (first gen) in the fleet I'd like to pick up another car that is a little larger for road trips...in addition to the 9-3 a used G6 Convertible is on my short list. Chris
  11. I was thinking of cars built currently. The only thing I don't like about the SRT-4 is that the motor compartment is very tight if you have to work on them. That being said, I've seen amazing things done with them as Autocross cars and track cars. I've thought HARD about buying one myself. Chris
  12. Be interesting to see what they do with the Caliber. My son Joel and I looked at a Caliber SRT-4 in the showroom when we went and looked at those Challengers, and it seems like they are doing a better job getting assembly on the line done well. Like I said, Cerebis is giving me some hope for Chryco. Chris
  13. I would agree. When I bought my last new car, I went into a Chevrolet delership to look at the Cobalt. I was told "you don't want to look at that, its not a very good car." GM needs to do something NOW to get people excited about there products. Ford seems to be doing the best. With Chrysler, that lifetime warranty is going to be for the lifetime of Chrysler, which may well be in months if things don't change. Chris
  14. I can appreciate how you feel. When we moved in, our subdivision was 90% domestic. It's probably 50-60% right now, but most of the new cars I see are foreign. Two years ago there was one toyota truck in our whole subdivision, now there must be 15-20. Chris
  15. ...ouch, Solstice, one of my fav. GM cars is down, and buick is down big. Hummer is down huge... Chris
  16. Glad to see the Astra doing better. Wonder if GM does the horrible restyle thing with the G6 if it will tank also. Glad to see Malibu and CTS doing so well, the deserve to do well.
  17. I wonder why the hell this thing isn't catching on here in the states. It is one hell of a sexy car! Last I knew, dealers had like a 300 day supply... Chris
  18. It's still a MUCH nicer interior. Starting to have hope that things will improve! Chris
  19. Ditto on the gunmetal grey. Satty, as has been said before, this thread is useless without pics! Chris
  20. Wasn't it Pierce Arrow where they melted down all of the factory spares during WWII? I think they did that with one of the American Classic brands, I remember reading about it in automotive quarterly. Chris
  21. You will someday, my friend. Until then...maybe a Challenger (new) in a year or two? I still think the silver/grey would be kick-ass on that car! Chris
  22. This would be cool. With 5 kids to haul around, I could use a rod like that! Chris
  23. Nahh, you really need to do it in something like the 57 Cadillac 4 door hardtop you posted the link to in another thread. The cross country thing would be WAYY to much fun in a car like that. Chris
