  1. I own a current gen XB and a GMC Safari van. They look like Momma Shamu and her baby in the driveway. Actually the scion XB is a decent city car, I would consider buying another. However, I am working on the Mrs. and think I have her convinced that we need a Cobalt SS/SC as a replacement for the Safari. Chris
  2. The TC is still much heavier and does not handle as well as the prev. Celica. For a sports car, better options exist. I would buy a 2000-2005 Celica before I would buy a TC. Chris
  3. Probably people remember the olds diesels of the late 70's-early 80's. Seriously, a diesel Cobalt would be a kick ass car. Chris
  4. Exactly. BTW I really like the interior but I doubt I would want it in a car I would buy. I actually like the simple functionality of the Cobalt SS Supercharged interior better. Seriously. Chris
  5. The Lancer and the Caddy should be the best of the bunch I would think. Good to see G.M. getting some credit. Chris
  6. Any car, Chevy or Toyota of Honda or Suburu or whatever will have recalls. What counts is that G.M. seems to be trying to do the ethical thing right now and build really high quality vehicles. Chris
  7. Actually...I might get flamed for this but here goes. My concept of a great G.M. is a smaller company that builds really great premium vehicles at a real profit and gets loyal customers for life. They make a whole lot more on one CTS or Z-06 or H-2 than they do on a Cobalt or an Ion. Part of being profitable is doing things that otyhers aren't. Spending huge effort to compete in overcrowded segments may not be the most profitable thing for G.M. Chris BTW, Part of the cool thing about this being in its infancy is that we are around to watch it happen from the start.
  8. ...also...thanks for the info. Chris
  9. Too bad. The Cobalt SS is a great car...and I am thinking about one as a DD for my wife next year when we get a new car. As for the asian kid in the story...Just more Si's that will see the Cobalt's two sets of round taillights. Chris
  10. Kia build quality is just horrible. They ought to compare two year old cars at some point...I am sure the Kia would place dead last. Besides, there are other cars in the class that should have been tested...Fusion, Mazda 6, etc. Chris
  11. Not suprised at this...but good to see. Chris
  12. Actually a Cobalt SS sedan might be kind of a cool commuter car. Chris
  13. From everything I've seen I am not impressed with the Caliber interior. Chris
  14. Actually drove a Sonata and was not impressed at all. While I am a big fan of Asian cars I still think Hyundai has a lot of catching up to do to get to even the G6 level. Chris
  15. I like this approach to the hobby. Too many people talk $hit on the internet or in print and don't know what they are talking about. Besides, no one has brought up the U.S. auto industry's role in building things like the B-24 liberator that put the Nazi's down forever. Chris
  16. I used to live next door to a labor negotiator who worked for Chevrolet. LOTS of problems the domestics face are due to unions. The U.A.W. is going to have to face reality or die. Chris
  17. Actually I am not a huge monte fan but I like it because it is clean and modern from a visual standpoint. Dislike the interior of that car, tho. As for the Civic it is very different and I kind of like it but I like the Golf Gti, Mazda 3, Mini Cooper S, etc. a little better. Chris
  18. Actually to me a smaller car is safer because I feel like I can avoid bad situations more easily. Being able to stop/steer/react is what driving on the street is about to me. I've seen some bunched up 3's and Cobalts in yards. Seems like the passenger compartment stays pretty intact. Wouldn't bother me to buy either car. Chris
  19. Actually I lived for a year in Atlanta, which is just about as bad for traffic. I don't know why but I prefer a stick for stop and go driving. Must just be odd. Chris
  20. Ford is doing more right than most people give them credit for. While I wouldn't buy a Fusion I do lust after the departed SVT Focus. Chris
  21. I've been lurking here for quite awhile and I enjoy all of your comments. This is a great board! Personally the above would be my list, but I'd add the G6. I prefer manual tranny but On-Star would be a big consideration for my wife who would be driving it long distances. Chris
