We've already had this much and more going to front wheels. The Import tuners have FWD cars doing 8-9-10 second 1/4 miles. I saw a short bit today from a team currently track tuning a Cobalt SS SC down at Daytona for the Grand AM series. THey have high praise for the behavior of the FWD Cobalt. This turbo engine would really bring them into the game as engines must remain stock. Torque steer is just a wildcard the RWD (only) people throw on the table. TO me it would be like a FWD (only) person making large of fishtailing in a RWD. Ya gotta admit 130 #'s per litre is pretty darn impressive.

I always thought they were all about the same modern internal combustion engines and their "ratings" that is

I understand Cananopies point about the Lucerne being over shawdowed due to the sex appeal of the roadster. At the same time a roadster is much more than eye candy. Ill have to agree with enzl if the lugage area is as bad as it sounds. To design an entire chassis which lacks a few sq ft. was very foolish. My 64 Alpine weighed 2333 and was considered heavy against it competition, yet it had enough room behind the seats and in the huge trunk to go camping in. Thats not progress and once again proves "today" is not all that. Ill also agree about any cheapness in interior or any materials. Thing is it would not cost 250 extra, in production volumn, better grade materials or improved designs would amount to a few dollars per unit. Maybe GM needs to take a better look at their suppliers. In house is always cheaper, always unless you have slacking idiots in charge and not doing their job, which is making sure everyone else is doing their job. Behead the penny pinchers, their cheapness does not justify their paychecks. Save money on foolish payroll such as bean counters and afternoon golfers and apply it to materials and design.

damn those are nice ! I love that grill and trim, its perfect where other GM's were gaudy, huge protruding things of less tastefull design, IMO. I really really like this model. That should let plenty of air in, if the area was put into square inches I think you would find its quite large.
-
Its worse than that Paulie. 270 Toyo power = 195 GM power, they just gear the cars down like dragsters so they appear fast. Ha !

I actually didnt know that engine was still in production. There was/is? a portable lumber saw manufacturer on the West Coast US that made a 3 blade mill which removed boards in single pass. They used the air cooled VW engine for its simplicity and light weight. I was under the impression they used reman units found throughout the country.

I should note that I believe the front fenders on your pictured truck would bolt to this 60-66 model. I have the same four bolts in the front that bolt to a bracket that bolts to the bumper. I worked on mine years ago and they look the same to me at this angle. I think you could see the resemblence of this type of truck to mine, compared to the long nose more squared off versions available in the same time periods. Half of the engine is under the cab. You remove part of what would normally be the transmission tunnel to do tune ups from inside the cab. the hoods are gull wing or butterfly. the center "hood" needs to be unbolted with 4 or 6 bolts if you need to get in that way which is rare. Also the two front panels that the headlights mount in hinge inward at the grill for access from that direction. Two bolts and voila. Kneeling on the round front fenders is always fun but its actually very easy to service, not like the newer fiberglass tilt cabs but still easy enough.

Mine should look something like these but it does not. Its got multiple dents, some large, some rust, broken or missing windows, needs paint. It has a log loader on it and an extremely heavy, hinged with 1 1/4 pins, pintle tow hitch I welded to the bumper + brackets to frame, so I could tow it from site to site with my 86 GMC Brigidere (which I still cant spell) and also still own. Mine is a 65 6500 with the 478 V6 gas, 5sp Clark w/2sp rear single axle. Its called a B model. It runs excellent and efficient. At one time I did have it close to being road worthy but a run in with a hunter and 4 years of neglect while I searched the world for a "real" job has left it needing even more work. I also made the mistake of "renting" it to a "friend" last year and he thought it was a bumper to push logs up against so......more dents and broken this and that. It still works everyday......when Im logging......I do some other odds and ends now too. http://www.6066gmcguy.org/

That is kinda nice, I have never seen that styling before. Looks like it might be the stubby that proceded my model.

The only laws I have little regard for are some traffic laws, like the dead stop, or speed limits and I think that is what this is about. MONEY, you would be getting tickets in the mail and you couldnt fight them because they would have a video or stored data as proof. It sure is alot of wasted money when there is far more important battles in socioty to fight. They are already well aware of terriorists and what they are up too. I dont think this has as much to do with that as they are claiming. Once your SS # is tainted today you are done, history, out of the game, everything is background checks on your SS. They could look back 20 years and find something stupid you did in late teens or early twenties. Job application ? Right straight into the trash can, your done. Its the worst form of segregation and ethnic cleansing imaginable, its one thats going on and you dont even know it. Data compiled client catagorized future determined and mapped

Good call Blu, I never thought of that T-Bird, the Aussie Falcon call was pretty good too. How bout that V4 in the Sonnett, that was actually what triggered it all for me. My friend thats a Saab and Sonnet man told me about them, other wise I would not have known. The Brit sports car guy I worked for way back and got parts for my Alpine from had a cooper headgasket for one of those V4's hanging on the wall. Its one gasket with four offset cylinder holes. My Sonnett friend said it was a comercial engine, as if it may have been used in equipement, like say an air compressor or generator. I cant verify this.......I bet our man James could. Yea Baby ! Thanks for the lifetime Sly but C&G dont really want me :( or at least dont need me

Well you know I love Toyota......yarite ! But I wouldnt worry about 2 hp, they probably only have 230 anyhow. the one tested was most likely tweaked and running on rice blend alcohol. Haaaaaaaaa!

Oh Boy  Rear tire blow out could really cause an accident Really bad in the snow Not good in the rain Really bad in rain when empty Far more stress on the sidewalls, 2 side walls compared to 4 heavy rain is going to come out from under those like a sunami or however its spelled Id almost argue about the mileage claims but would need to compare myself cost for truck owners cost for tire dealers retread equipment costs

YEA Baby !!!!!!!! http://www.fordcorsair.com/ thanks for the clues Sly

Triumph Hurricane na, I dont believe they had anything special in the engine department. So its gotta be a EnFo with that nearly vertical V4 also used in Saab Sonnet Ford Corsair

Yes thats total bullshit. Its a way of catagorizing individuals. If you ever do get in trouble it will be used against you for any and all bad habits. We already have this going on in NY at toll booths and they did have cameras for sppeding in some ares Im not sure what the current status of that is. I know of someone that was sent a letter becasue the times on there NYS Thruway tickets indicated that they got from on booth to exit booth way to fast. I beleive this is part of the goal with Onstar and GPS tracking as well. Im also suspect of Geico, sorry if thats not spelled right. I called them for an insurance estimate years ago and the questions they were asking me had nothing to do with driving or road and car use. I felt it was a way of compiling information to put in a data base. The price they did give me was way out of touch so I dont see how they are getting the businees to pay for the expensive add campaigne that they have been running frequently for years and years. Now here at one store chain we need to sign a list when we buy kerosene for heating. I dont trust any of this.

I meant Eastern European. I get all messed up with my east west when I cross the high seas ;-) Anyhow now that I look at that I do see Datsun. That front surfboardish fender is reminisant of 710 and its got that plastic vent thingy on the C pillor. But then its got that Rover look from the side. No ! that cant be Brit. Maybe its a Renault LeCar from 1967. Hold on ! if I guess enough Ill cover the universe Its a 64 Opel GT Post sedan no wait ! Its a ........... yea thats it !

Thats an interesting list OC. An SCX ey ? I read that pulled .89G on skidpad. Great looking cars with not so great looking back panel. I loved the round nose with the grills rolling up and over. I have a question on the Skylark T - are you sure that wasnt the HO 3.0 90* Buick engine ? Myself I consider my 75 Delta 88 Royale convertable somewhat special as well as my 76 Delta 88 Royale 2dr. hardtop, which is more rare than the vert thses days as well as my 86 Buick LeSabre 2dr. Limited, it was a first year, new style, new technology and its kinda plush being a Limited the 97 L67 LSS was pretty rare and the 90 Regency with 328,000 miles is definantly special I too had a W Regal (91 TP3800 Limited) and it was my favorite and Im still annoyed that I traded it for another "rare" 99 50th Ann Eighty Eight. I should have put a thousand into the Regal rather than the 1000 down on the '99. It fit me like a glove and was pure pleasure to hammer down the mountains into work everyday and back up at night. I bought none of these new but the 86 Lesabre and 97 LSS were in like new condition at purchase and are still close to excellent. The two old Deltas are projects in fair but excellent running condition. The 90 Regency is a poor old dayly drivin sod.

Yep. its more cultural though. Like what appears to be insanity in some middle east countries is just normal dayly life. I remember interviews with young folks in Ireland 15 years ago or so and they were saying how dayly bombings and "war" was all they knew, it was just another day in paradise. Much like the war zones in our own inner cities and schools for that matter. It will take generations or prosperity to change the mind set in any area and chance of prosperity in Russia is limited to those that had the power to jump on "capitolism" on the first new day one. Now just exactly who were those fortunant ones ? This is and will be reflected in their culture and styling for decades. they have to evolve from where they were, it will take time.

Boy turbo, Ive been accused of alot of bias, bigotry, sexist and other things that are not coming to me at this time. Thing is I know why there is all kinds of people in this world and what makes them as they are. Id hardly call it under achievement or many of the other horrible faces you have painted on diverse interests in populations. I came from a grad class of 72 of which maybe ? 3 or 4 could have went to "ivy league" schools. Somehow I dont think the rest of us were under achievers or worthless or unworldly. Where I live now there are men, real men that have rarely left the county yet they run prosperous, hard businesses and have ambition and accomplishment by far out reaching anything you can yet imagine at your age. Im always glad to hear about younsters looking forward and keeping their axe to the grindstone however its not only sad but its sick how I see some of you young college kids stick your nose in the air at people that have other interests and ambitions. I cant believe you think its a easy walk in the park for those of us that did not "do" college. Or that, therefore we lack culture or awareness or "worldlyness", though I may be glad to pass on that "worldlyness because it appears there is an attitude price that comes with that one. I am fortunate to have met and known many successful MATURE former college grads that have a high level of respect for the likes of my kind and our abilitys to withstand that which they could never. I say fortunate because this helps me to know attitudes like yours and a few others are a minority. For you, I hope with time and experience you will realize the merit of diversity of interests as you are accepting of diversity of culture, race, sex, gender and creed. For at this point in time it appears you have contacted a bit of snobbery. Perhaps in time you will be able to look beyond what you are seeing and see exactly what you are looking at.

1964 AMC Matador ? Probably one of those Western European cars that I know nothing about. I like the integrated directionals. Im betting it was rear engined

Yea, Im OK with it, I just wish the gas milage was up on the 3.9, Im afraid of the effect that will have on marketing it. Now, I do hope they put the Eaton M90 on the 3.9 for ultra performance, that should be kickin 280/300 - 300/320 with same mileage under normal driving conditions. AND it will have that sound and insane powerband that just keeps commin and commin. I just cant think about the 38, its way to close to home and the last grain left from Buicks life saving contribution. Edit: for that matter with the 3.5 doing so much better for gas milage that should also have a M90 option. I would expect it could smoke this NA3.9 & the FWD NA3.6 as well.
