best thing about them is they cant weather the northern winter :D

Yep and that arrangement was first heard on Savatage's Dead Winters Dead, Cris Caffery was guitarist in Savatage at that time and is guitarist in TSO.

Were there any others to pull off a reliable high mileage and sucessful diesel other than VW ? Ours had 26_,000 miles at retirement and the engine was not the problem

Trinacriabob review of rental LaCrosse test drive
razoredge replied to trinacriabob's topic in Buick
Just a driving tip for those who care..... tune up on your left and right side mirror skills and backing, lane changes, parking or any other rearward visibility issues will no longer be an issue. I never look over my shoulders anymore, havent in years, since I had to learn how to use mirrors that is. The styling of the GP has grown on me quite a bit, Im surprised myself, its the black only plastic interior thats depressing. It wouldnt take much for Buick to improve the Lacrosse but I dont think we will see it. -
I dont think that generation liked Sinatra because they were jumping on a bandwagon, that was their music and it passed down as well. Like myself now that can listen to big band swing and old Jazz and enjoy it and understand what the draw to it was, then turn the page and listen to intense Progressive Metal

Its not my nose Id like to stick a crayon up and its not a crayon Id like to stick. All I can think is "they call these the advanced, highly skilled, highly educated people? "

Oh I got ya :AH-HA_wink: I noticed some people did leave after an hour or so . They must have been throwoff by the "Orchestra" or perhaps heard a few of the popular Christmas classics and didnt understand. Still and all there was an amazing mix of people in the crowd and on stage, and it was a very loud and involved crowd but there is a larger demographic of "rockers" now, more every decade, I myself forget how old I am and still rock and roll. So many of the younger people there must have looked at me as an old fart  Frogger - Trans Siberian was spawned from Savatage, amongst of the first heavy metal bands from the early 80's. There is a big difference between "Pop" metal which is your "big hair" bands and "Heavy" Metal. Your "big" hair bands were like Poison and Motley Crew where they sang about girls, sex and partying every song after song after song and got mainstream air play. Your Metal bands got more into social and political issues and while they had long hair, they did not have "big" hair. They were/are serious musicians and spend more than 5 minutes writting the next song. Anyhow Savatage did an album in 95 , Dead Winters Dead, which was about a Christmas in war devastated Sarajevo. This is an opera of sorts. In this recording they used excerpts from Mozart and Beethoven and much orchestration.....this was the beginning of what became the Trans Siberian Orchestra. As for "cheesy" and "80's style" guitar solos, Ill have to let that go on account the ignorance and clueless factor. Go put on you favorite Backstreetboys CD

I had a taste of all three and see many benefits of all. Im always a facinated "watcher" or "looker" so urban areas really spark my interest, I had a gas on my own at 17 for a summer in Boston. Grew up in a small town surburban environment. Now I have been a hardcore hillbilly (except for that destructive shotgun business) for 25 years. 40 minutes gets us into the "city" but thats rare. No money here for entertainment lifestyle. I did enjoy my time working in city and living here, it made me appreaciate the country more then when I never left, I forgot why I loved it in the first place. Work and physical/skill challenges has always been my sick form of entertainment. How about winter camping in Adirondac wilderness with a dog team ? Twilight silent sliding through the wooded trails behind a team you raised and trained, wanna talk about majic. How about building your own house from the tree to the house ? No lumber here has traveled over 20 miles nor has been touched by other hands. Theres little I can think of I have not done. Nothing typical here. We will see the "country" fade drastically in the next 20 years. As the cityites with all their money move into the country and drive up real estate, promote subdivision and drive up property tax's they also bring their city ideas and next thing you know they are on the town boards making zoning laws to rid the country of the country........go figure ?

actually I have no idea what kind of bulb you are talking about. It almost sounds like an automotive style bulb, if thats the case, pull the breakers and run for your life.
-
Sorry Capriceman I thought you were making joke about the lightbulb topic we had going. You are serious ? Just go buy a new bulb if your serious, balasts can make a difference but I have changed ballasts before and found it was just the bulbs.

It appears I have won a popularity contest. So no one has DOD V6's ? and everyone thinks its worth it ? No one knows anything about engines ? No one has an opinion ? Everyone hates me ? Gee Wiz :(

We need the government to do their job and look out for the vast population it owes its existance to. Not the few by contrast that are benefiting. Just listen and obsorb serve and protect Hey who cares so long as there is 300,000 minimum wage jobs created.......it all sounds good.......dont it ?

Yes you are correct. I never questioned the purpose of GM targeting the younger people, it will take at least two generations to turn the opinion of the majority of youth around. As your TV program shows, status quo is everything......which it is....its an all polluting ignorance of prejudice placed against all that is not status quo by the politically correct and highly "cultured" crowd Imagine that !

OC, Im not sure but Im afraid you may have misunderstood my post. I literally meant I was glad you made the point, as you stated "CANNOT generalize about the performance, flexibility, or economy of a vehicle simply based upon the stated horsepower and torque figures" This is also always used against GM as well and shows the bias the media uses. If its a Japanese car its OK and will be ignored, if its a GM is will be riddin and shoved in everyones face until all are convinced not to buy a GM. Reg - and so many fail to get the job done B) you know what Im talkin 'bout siegen - I cant help ya, your not seeing the point. I did not contridict myself, you just do not understand what I was saying. First I could care less about above 5000 unless Im having a testosterone moment, Im pretty sure I have more of those than most adults. I seriously doubt many cars ever see 5000 rpm. I have spent so much time on the roads and the only time I see anyone wind out their engine is usually a teenager or the muturity challenged adult such as myself, even then we are very very rare. So theres for.... what you need above 5000. Now - torque ? Torque matters little once the HP gets to work, which is what you have at high RPM's. So I think we simply have a Japanese publicity stunt to demyth the fact that they are high RPM HP makers with no balls. I mean its OK to bash the GM's because they got tons of balls but shift at 5500-6000 rpm's. So whats the problem with pointing out the fact that the Japanese have lots of...... zing at rpms never used in daily driving ? I have made my living at the handgrips of a 6 hp hand held engine spinning 13,000 all day long so please dont think Im clueless about powerbands. I have a 90 hp diesel log skidder that peaks at 2000 rpm's and could drag 15 of your civics backwards while they puffed clouds of blue smoke off their tiny little tires. I know about torque, gear ratios, inertia, HP, powerbands and RPM's. Simply put, I think alot of the buzz around these "hitec" engines is that they need to be buzzing to show the "tec" and GM is not as "behind" in the tec as so many try to claim, just more practical as to the reality of how a engine is drivin in dayly commutes and its not at Watkins Glen. We all know RPM's and power bands evolve around the camshaft timing...right ? We could put aftermarket cams in our GMs and have the equivalent to your hitec high performancd riceroni. We would sacrifice low RPM torque for high RPM HP......nothing new there. Unfortunantly the media tests drives and gives results on drivetrain performance as if they are race cars. Do they ever talk about the ability to walk away from a intersection by simply pressing the pedal about a 1/2 inch ? like we all do everytime ? No one drives around spinnin 5000 rpms, sorry.

Well guys, none of this is hard to figure out. You have the Korean and Japanese economy < then you have ours It not hard to improve quickly when you have pheasant or slave labor. Just look at how "great" the south used to be. We all greatly appreaciate the vast American public for supporting these economies
-
Wow, Im impressed. When I heard last year that they were really going to spend and push Onstar, I was negitive about it. I never figured people would need or use it. I never realized how helpless the public was. I have a feeling some of the doorlocks were test calls, just for shits and giggles....at least I hope so. I also hope the service calls were gasoline or flat tire related...otherwise that means theres a vehical reliability issue. I do see the good side for the emergency stuff like accidents and air bags (stupid things). Well this is good news for GM and the public as I can now see.
-
Its not world ending or anything in a car, but its a general rule of thumb to never throw a moving vehical in neutral. A stalled engine (not that its typical) will give you no power steering and no power brakes, its a horrible feeling let me tell ya. This is why trucks were switched to air brakes. Guys would mess up and stall loaded trucks on hills, with vacume hydro brakes you have this extremely hard brake pedal that does absolutely nothing. I have had it happen, if your first reaction it the wrong one, your in serious trouble.

Wonder why the Chrysler 4dr hardtops look good to me while GM's and others just look wrong ? Must have come from early influence. OMG - Mr. Ex at his most elaborate I know a guy that has a NYer wagon similar to this Imperial

Thanks Ven! Just wanted to clarify for those that dont know - Actually it is mostly Classical and classicly imposed Metal. Not much Rock in there at all, rock is actually Blues and Country based. That stuff is heavily influenced by old European classics, some of it is reproductions or I guess you could call it "covered" classical. They did one old one tonight that was writtin by a Monk Classically influenced Metal should never be confused with "Rock", sorry thats from a musicians prospective.
