I've had Fios for quite a long time now - my area was one of the first to get it. All the copper is still in place but I dumped my landline, so that point is moot.

I never watch movies at home.

    Sounds like a plan.

The numbers escape me, but the provider (Verizon) offers three levels of Fios service. I have the basic one now. I doubt I'd watch shows online, though.

Haven't read a detective novel in a very long time, maybe I'll give them a shot. Thanks for the suggestion. I've been hoping that Caleb Carr might have something new out - love his stuff.

Well, I just finished reading The Trial Of Socrates - so I think something lighter will be up next. As for buying anything to replace TV, I don't think I'll bother. I may upgrade my Fios internet though. I like speed.

    I've been reading instead.

So, my television coughed-up its last about a month ago. I'm considering canceling my FIOS TV service instead of replacing the TV. Sure, there is some stuff I'll miss, but I don't think I'll miss it very much. Why not save a little cash?
  9. I've been seeing this early 70s Eldorado convertible for a month or two now. Pretty damn clean and straight, but in a terrible color ( a blah almost green beige color). The thing is, whoever owns it beats the snot out of it. I've seen an older guy and a young kid wheeling it around like they were in a chase scene in some old 70s movie. They essentially use it as a weapon as they drive, and park it wherever it might fit. Sometimes they leave it running with the top down. The other day, it was sporting a new dent in the rear bumper and decklid. I don't love those cars all that much, but I wanted to rescue this one from a grim future.
  10. So today I installed a new vacuum advance (forgot what a PITA that is to do), a new distributer cap. freed-up the front calipers (but they leak), and installed the new/old tires. Not the satisfying leap forward I was looking for, but progress none the less.
  11. Way too much fear these days. Nicely put, Delta.
  12. Isn't that rat rod nuts? The pics don't show all the crazy details, but should give you that "whoa" reaction.
  13. Yup, always with mouth open and tongue lolling. Arkus acts as an anti-defroster when he rides in the Tahoe - fogs the windows in a heartbeat.
  14. Yup, he's the calm one.
  15. And a shot of the front: http://www.bangshift.com/gallery/geezers-at-maple-grove-2011-gallery.html Check out the writeup, and a link to their gallery for all of the cool stuff that was there this year: http://www.bangshift.com/blog/Nostalgia-Drags-and-Show-Gallery-Geezers-at-the-Grove-2011-Maple-Grove-Raceway.html
  16. Woohoo! They posted the coverage of this year's event! Here's a link to the crazy rat rod I was talking about, with my Uncle and I looking at it! http://www.bangshift.com/gallery/geezers-at-maple-grove-2011-gallery.html Edit: the links to the individual pics don't work, just scroll down through the pics in the gallery and enlarge. Same goes for the front pic of the Rat Rod.
  17. Zora is demanding equal time, so here he is:
  18. Malamutes are sort of the HD version of Siberian Huskies. Much bigger, and with brown eyes, they are the endurance runners where the Huskies are the sprinters.
  19. Arkus is blushing from all of the nice comments. ...or maybe that's just groundhog blood. Thanks guys.
  20. My dad used to do that on less than 2 acres...
  21. Why not? But I think we maybe should let his nose heal first.
  22. Fortunately for me, Malamutes like to use the borders rather than the lawn areas. They usually use the high grass areas that I only mow once per year. Works for me.
  23. I'm so glad I live in a place where I don't have to collect it.
  24. My first Malamute, Lasher, only ever didn't like one person. The guy later turned out to be a real creep. I was shocked that Lash didn't like him - but it was very clear, Lash circled him and growled. He had never done that before, and never did it after. And, a surprising number of people are afraid of Malamutes - despite how friendly they are. I prefer big dogs, but I don't care for ones that bark alot, so Shepherds are out for me. Malamutes bark rarely, but it is a big bark.
  25. Thanks. Good thing too, because he's not all that bright.
