  1. Hello? GM? Anybody awake in there?
  2. I would certainly agree with that.
  3. I'd be happy w/ dark gray or dark brown paint, window tint, steelies w/ DDs, and no emblems...I'd rather have the grille frame blacked out also. I'd like to have a tan cloth or leather interior, no weird police seats. Then spend some extra $$$ to upgrade the engine to get at least 400-450hp. Sounds to me like you have a plan. Time to buy one?
  4. Hmmm, there they are in the steel...
  5. What are the odds of finding two at the same price and the same time. Strike while the iron is hot.
  6. Searched their site - only found an empty page entitled 2011 Caprice Police Patrol Vehicle. Zero information.
  7. Always like to hear about a new coupe going into production - even if it is just a Cruze.
  8. Taurus is such an awful car, I can't imagine having to spend an 8 hour shift in one.
  9. City car, hmmm. Check for suspension condition if it's been banging around in Philly very long. But yeah, for a G, that's a good buy.
  10. Umm, no. They offerred to sell me a new tire, it has nothing to do with any business model.
  11. Nah, some ambulance chaser made a big score because some bufoon hurt himself after 15 beers rolling his lawn tractor down a hill after having one of these chains repair a tire. I stood there watching a tech plug the hole in a car tire as an "assistant manager" told me about their new corporate policy that due to liability concerns they will no longer fix tractor tires. F-ing stupid. Ruined my day. So much for getting the job done before the heat and humidity return. Which was the reason I decided to work on my only day off in the first place.
  12. Thanks to "liability issues" both Pep Boys and Tires Plus refuse to fix tractor tires. So, I'm screwed out of a good weather day to get the blasted fields cut. Boy, am I pissed.
  13. Nice break from the heat for sure.
  14. Proximity breeds contempt.
  15. This whole thread comfirms for me the desireability of not having neighbors at all. Distance, and good fences. Ideally, I'd like to be where I can't see the neighbors' houses from my own. Lacking that, a few hundred feet make everything so much better.
  16. Cool!
  17. I never really saw the HHR as retro...
  18. The HHR is unique and interesting - two qualities absent from recent GM introductions. They really should continue building it.
  19. I sweep up about 50lbs. of the mortar several times each year - yeah, it's that bad. It is constantly leaving a mini-beach all around the perimeter. The contractor that rebuilt the barn after the fire didn't even re-point the stone. The only new mortar was where he had to patch a section of wall. If it were mine...
  20. Boy do I wish!
  21. Well Cort, it's a start anyway. Sure wish I could find a cheap parts car (don't laugh too loud now). I did find out that the door glass is different for coupes and convertibles - not good. I also found a nearly complete interior from a '78 that is very close to the right color for $375 - considering buying it since that is less than bare seat frames would cost me.
  22. Interesting. I've always heard the term "shoebox" associated with '55-'57 Chevys. I've used it in a generalized sense to indicate that basic body shape and proportions. For the most part, it isn't my favorite automotive style - even though I love the simple beauty of a '55 Chevy. I hear you on the sheetmetal issue, but this car was clean and all one color. Maybe the guy just liked the Gran Turismo script. Hope I see it again.
  23. We've already been there...
  24. OK, so they weren't the longest or the widest - I think you likely got my meaning. Non- "shoebox" was unusual for fifties cars (and I like it). This one I saw had that big "pseudo-grille" bit of trim on the trunk. It was definitely an earlier car. Wonder why someone would do that. Has to be a story there.
  25. I think ventillation is the key. Drylok would probably run away screaming from those old walls with the crumbling mortar. Probabaly take 20 gallons or more to tame it slightly. But yeah, it has gutters (copper), they are even oversize. I'm guessing that they need to be cleaned - but that's higher than any ladder I have (and higher than I want to climb to be honest). I'm going to have to think this one through...
