  1. It's all yours, Z. I'd rather deal with the snow.
  2. One big reason why I'd like to move there.
  3. And as an added bonus, we have a bumper crop of bugs this year.
  4. We got all of our rain early on, then that insane stretch of heat/humidity. Had a breif spell of decent weather, and now the H&H is building again. Very dry now, thunderheads build-in but don't want to produce. Standard SE PA summer: hot and $h!ty with continued hot and $h!ty, and a chance of thunderstorms.
  5. Calm down Hyper, I was joking with you. See the smiley?
  6. I look forward to the day when GM builds some cars Hyper doesn't have to make excuses for.
  7. I remember when it first hit TV in the seventies. Got my attention.
  8. Dare I mention knob and tube?
  9. Dash gropers don't buy Corvettes - advantage GM.
  10. Aluminum wiring is bad news indeed - not a viable solution.
  11. Happy belated, Mr. Dart.
  12. Words fail...
  13. Just look at my project threads for the answer.
  14. Thanks Man! One of the best aspects of the day was that three generations of my family were all hangin' out in the driveway while this went on. Just like we did when I was a kid. Lots of remembering my dad today while we hung out where he did and did what he used to do.
  15. So it looks like my nephew wants to edit and tweak the video, so that may take a few more days. Anyway, my uncle, and I ran through the usual checklist and found that the ignition coil was shot after I rigged-up a fuel supply from a 5 Gal. gas can, replaced the burnt-out fusible link, and cobbled the pass. side exhaust back into place. So off I went to Pep Boys to grab a new coil - it took longer to get it than install it. A few squirts of starting fluid later and we had fire in the hole! After 30 plus years of sitting that old 350 fired up and ran. Not as big of a smoke-show as I was expecting, considering how much mystery oil I had squirted into each cylinder. But boy! Did it ever blow a pile of rust out of the exhausts! It's not running quite up to snuff yet, but it seems like nothing but a tuneup and carb rebuild will be required to get it there (and a vacuum advance). Each time I fire it up, it runs just a bit better than the last time. So, it was on to the transmission. Simple deal here - just added fluid and the car moved under its own power! Damn, but that felt good! That is, until I tried to stop. Pedal suddenly went to the floor. But the surprise is that we managed to get just enough pedal back by filling the reservoir and doing a quick bleed on the front brakes. That was enough to allow me to drive it back into the garage - instead of pushing. Today was a damn good day!
  16. We have ignition! Details and video later.
  17. Today may be the day. I'm going to go mess around with the Vette, and maybe try for ignition.
  18. If you say so A version of an existing car (though impressive) Concept Under-delivers Currently vaporware
  19. Haven't been able to find the B-I-Y weight yet.
  20. Well, 1) I think that they took their collective eye off of the ball in the nineties. 2) The government needs to reexamine its role in this and reform what needs to be reformed. 3) A greater focus on domestic Alt fuels that can service the existing fleet should be a priority. 4) That the manufacturers push for such fuels to get the Feds off of their backs. That's just for starters. There is no reason that we can't get results like this if we make a mission out of it.
  21. I'm assuming the number comes from somewhat mixed driving with a heavy emphasis on highway. But I'd have to ask.
  22. Interesting, but it skirts the issue a bit. I just thought of a place we could start. GMPP offers the current Camaro as a body-in-white, that should have a shipping weight attached to it. Driveline parts could be determined the same way, and so on. Point taken,Zo6.
  23. That just doubly pisses me off.
  24. High strength and lightweight materials have reduced the weight where they have been used and not much room is left in those areas. So, it has to be in the electrical/safety/amenities where the problem lies.
