  1. Meh, why not? Many Californians are from somewhere else.
  2. Back on topic: I see this as a case of very unfortunate timing considering the appeal that the expanded CTS lineup could have in Europe.
  3. Coupe or sedan determined by volume? Absurd. The rest of the definition is era-sensitive and mostly splitting hairs at this point in time. For practical purposes, a coupe has 2-doors and a sedan 4.
  4. Ironic. That was the exact scenario that I thought I was creating. Sadly, not to be.
  5. Well, I do think that the boom in SUVs was absurd, but I have no problem with such vehicles existing. There are too many of them now, but that will change. As for CUVs, I find all of them unappealing but not moreso than minivans. All CUVs, and most SUVs would have been wagons if I had been able to make that choice. I love the Suburban, and the Bronco, and other such old legends that predate the term "SUV", and see the mainstreaming of this type of vehicle as unfortunate, but I don't feel that they impacted the coupe market in the way that force-fed sedans have.
  6. A black X6. Freakin' huge looking vehicle.
  7. Yes, two males.
  8. Why would you think that?
  9. When you stop and think about it, the GTO, Solstice, and G8, have laid a very solid foundation for the niche brand GM says that it wants Pontiac to be. The owners of these cars are very happy and are looking for more offerings in the same vein. Sounds like the basis for a focused brand to me.
  10. Such a simple concept...
  11. That's certainly part of the problem, and since the two can't be together my time with each is cut in half. I should know mid-week if there will be a new home for one of them.
  12. Actually, the research I've done shows that the littermate problem is gender nuetral except that the females tend to be worse. I will never adopt littermates again, and strongly advise against it.
  13. In my experience only internet morons that know little to nothing about the GTO mention the Cavalier in discussions about the GTO. They universally admit to never driving one, or even riding in one. Also, the GTO is an outstanding car with a loyal following, which is more than can be said for the Cavalier and the GP. GMs mistake was not having a new GTO ready to build on the foundation that the 04-06 built.
  14. Both dogs are trained in the basics. It really isn't an issue of training. Either one is dramatically better in the absense of the other one. Anyway, an older couple came to meet them today with an eye toward adopting one of them. I hate it, but it's the right thing to do.
  15. It just makes a ton more sense to build coupes and sedans (along with wagons etc.) on the same platform. Why this basic lesson has been lost lately perplexes me. Recent coupes have been stand-alone and more expensive. They then are expected to set the world on fire in sales - that's just stupid. Adding a coupe or wagon to an exisitng platform is the most cost-effective way to make such froms available and maximizes choice within a nameplate. Such practices should be the norm rather than a rarity. The sales numbers for any nameplate using this approach will be higher and the customer base broader. The sedan-only trend is pure foolishness. Penny smart and pound foolish.
  16. All well and good if the dollars and cents driive your automotive choices. I'd rather have a car that makes me happy when I drive it. It is highly doubtful that fuel economy will ever be a primary factor in a new car purchase for me.
  17. That is one tired old saw, PCS. There may be a resmblence in the basic shape, but that's where it ends. Much like the Vega resembled a small Camaro. It only amounts to a great big "So what?" Besides, this thread is about the G8.
  18. Nice job on the review, Satty. Believe it or not, I'm actually glad to see the slanted H stepping up their game. It is obvious that this car is no Excel or Accent.
  19. I'm sure. Go for it guys.
  20. The culprit: I wonder if he was planning to eat the tire.
  21. Dirty work indeed! Looking forward to the review.
  22. Arkus met me at the door again this evening when I returned home from work. This time, he not only escaped his crate, he dismembered it. I have no idea how to contain him now. Clearly, no crate can hold him. Fortunately, Zora was safely locked in my bedroom so no violence this time. Unless you count the crate. Arkus broke half a dozen welds and twisted the reinforcement rods like pretzels. After making a hole big enough, he pushed the heavy pressboard "floor" I just installed out of the crate far enough to again escape through the small openings in the bottom. All of the chains and huge C-clamps are still in place, and the crate is still chained to the cast-iron radiator. Unbelieveable. I guess I'll have to put him in the barn for the night.
  23. Just to clarify, my statement includes the CTS-V.
