  1. 1) Go to a G8 board and read about the actual owners who went from a BMW to the G8 - These guys are happy campers. 2) Don't put words in my mouth, at no time did I use the word "flocking". 3) The G8 was never intended to sell 10k per month in a good economy - in fact, they can't even build that many! 4) Rebates are a way of life right now (just ask Toyota). 5) The G8's sales are increasing in the worst economy in 75 years! 5) Again, don't put words in my mouth - I never said that the G8 was going to "save" Pontiac. But a full lineup with equal quality could. 6) As for saving GM, that won't happen with or without the G8 if they don't learn how to manage what they have and make decisions that aren't suicidal once per week.
  2. Are you kidding? BMW is far from niche, and quite well entrenched in the market. The G8 is doing absolutely great considering this environment and its recent introduction.
  3. If the G8 were a Bucik, it would already have been cancelled due to poor sales. As a Pontiac, it is outselling both Buick sedans - combined. Anyway, congats to my favorite Chrysler product!
  4. The G8 itself is the good news. For a car like that to be up in this economy is simply amazing, and to expect such a new model to compete saleswise with BMW's decades of worship is absurd on its face. Did you see the long list of other GM product it is outselling? And get this, quite a few 5s have been traded-in on new G8s, so that should tell you something about what BMW owners with brains are buying.

  6. Agreed. I have owned many of them and still have one right now.
  7. Did you guys even read the thread? Sheesh! The G8 is one of GM's few bright spots, and its sales are actually increasing! Oh forget it. Like Z said, enjoy your Toyotas. You guys love this decline too much for me.
  8. Shh! Don't tell PCS!
  9. The mismatched whitewalls are a nice touch.
  10. My favortite factoid is that the G8 outsold all of Saturn last month. :rotflmao:
  11. Read and learn: http://www.camaroz28.com/forums/showthread.php?t=671345 DISCLAIMER: May endanger sacred cows and conventional wisdom.
  12. That only Liliputians should work on anything with a Lotus badge.
  13. But that's logical thinking, Civic, not something teenage boys have as a strong suit. Add bad evironmental factors to that hormonal swamp, throw in a dash of persecution, and season with an overload of emotion and magical thinking, and you have the makings of this sort of disaster. I think we breed this sort of outcome via the way we "educate" children.

  15. There almost has to be a brain chemical at work here, these things are always done by teenage boys. Makes you wonder.
  16. Note to GM management: Copy the quoted post and write it (by hand) 10,000 times until you understand the importance of it.
  17. Had a busy day myself, today. Among the many tasks was the removal of the engine from a Lotus. With all of this British car smell all over me, I wonder if my wagon will want to let me it drive when I next find the time. My dogs are already pissed that I'm gone so much, they got used to having me around most days during the majority of the Winter.
  18. Japanese cars have never been original.
  19. Cutlass and it's sub models were the biggest meat and potatoes product Olds ever had. That includes the "hero models" like the 442 and H/O. It was a recipe that worked exceptionally well, and one that GM would do well to remember.
  20. Start posting them up, Roger! It's no fun if all of the posts are mine.
  21. The 68-72 Buick A-bodies just never did it for me, I do respect them but they run dead last in my order of brand preference in 68-72 GM A-bodies. I really prefer Buicks that define the brand better: unabashed yachts like the '71 Riv, or Turboed V6 stormers like the GN family. To me, both of those represent a clear Buick bloodline. The GS/GSX cars were a bit too much of a "me too" thing from my perspective. I'd take a Chevelle SS, Olds 442, or GTO over the Buick version any day.
  22. I was hoping I wouldn't have to be the one to bring up the 400s. I have no doubt in my mind that those trucks embody the single greatest advance in domestic trucks - ever.
  23. I was hoping you'd chime in with the technical aspect Balthazar, thanks!
