  1. The thing is, if the Prius were offered in non-hybrid form, it would have the rep of the sort of lousy, quirkily-styled, little econocar that it really is. That's something people have been blind to during its run.
  2. Taking a breather on this sounds like a good idea to me.
  3. Exactly.
  4. 'bout time someone said this.
  5. The market share thing really shouldn't be underestimated - it could be a huge advantage when the market recovers. The question is, would that advantage be worth all of the gov't. involvement/control/compromise as well as the burden of Chrysler's liabilities? Especially if much of the Chrysler workforce (and therefore product line) has to be retained to keep the Feds happy?
  6. The lead time is why they are doomed.
  7. By the time we know what this deal actually looks like, it will be a moot point. That makes it very hard to interpret what the implications may/may not be.
  8. Seeing a G8 GXP would certainly get my attention, but most cars I would simply note and then ignore. Oh I'd say something eventually, but it really wouldn't have much bearing on the relationship. EDIT: Cars figure hugely in my life, but I recognize that such is not the case for many folks.
  9. Hate them. This is one of the worst styling trends of recent cars.
  10. Yeah, that was me! I love the sound of a smallblock through headers in the afternoon. :AH-HA_wink:
  11. Thanks guys. It is great to have the car moving under its own power.

    Hey Ocn

Did you hear me holler this afternoon? :AH-HA_wink:
  13. What's your point?
  14. I said to hell with work for a few days so I could get this done. Reality will soon set back in.
  15. Thanks BP. The empty bracket is for the A/C compressor. I'll be putting the rest of the nose on very soon, I need to clear the floor space in the barn.
  16. WE HAVE IGNITION!!! The Chevelle is now a running and driving beast. After replacing the faulty fuel pump and correcting the firing order (oops!) she fired right up. A little fiddling with the timimg and carb adjustments, toppping -off the trans fluid and power steering fluid, and I was cruising up and down the lane in style. It's a ton of fun to drive a car without fenders and a hood around. Posed her on the lawn for some better pics after rinsing the dust off:
  17. You know it!
  18. These are the really bad ones, I'll take better ones tomorrow.
  19. Here are the pics, unfortunately some of them are pretty bad (I guess we were rushing too much).
  20. There is no chance that I would end up with any such thing.
  21. I've been putting in insanely long days on my project wagon since the end of last week, and tonight I was stopped in my tracks by a freaking fuel pump! Just as well I suppose, at least I'll be asleep before 4:00 A.M. tonight. I'm burnt to a crisp after this marathon, but it felt great to just decide to commit totallly to the project no matter what other concerns tried to enter the picture. Now a realatively simple repair ought to have the car running, and I can slow the pace back down to a more sane level to complete the work that remains to be done. I'm exhausted, but it is a "good" exhausted.
  22. Well, we almost got there... The car is all assembled to the point of running, but the fuel pump leaks badly so the inauguaral firing will have to wait until the local Napa opens in the morning. Bummer. On the upside, I have a ton of pics which I will upload tomorrow.
