  1. I would put it out of its misery.
  2. Done! At least I think so...
  3. You can haz! :AH-HA_wink:
  4. I can give it a try, just don't laugh at the results if I fail. :AH-HA_wink: Our "technical staff" are all AWOL at the moment and I'm a poor substitute.
  5. The intention behind raising the gas tax is to force people into small efficient cars, not to fund infrastructure (see the open letter that began this topic). That is nothing but an attempt at social engineering.
  6. I'm glad to see you back, DF. As for news on the site, there is simply no one willing to collect and present it much of the time. Several members we had always relied on to do that no longer do. I've been worried about this and other things at C&G for some time, but the problem is a difficult one to solve when we are all just volunteers with lives that shift and change. For now, if anyone finds something good, please post it! We are all C&G.
  7. People who do this should be prevented from reproducing.
  8. Croc, I think you simply don't understand where I'm coming from on this. I place the importance of our infrastructure nearly on par with national defense. What I don't want to see is the social manipulation intended by this notion of a high gas tax. It is an insanely negative way to govern, and I deeply resent it.
  9. I spent most of the week in my barn, so the GMs I've seen have been my own. Today I got to see alot more of the underside of the Chevelle's dash than I ever wanted to.
  10. We'll be fighting in the streets With our children at our feet And the morals that they worship will be gone And the men who spurred us on Sit in judgement of all wrong They decide and the shotgun sings the song I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around me Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again The change, it had to come We knew it all along We were liberated from the foe, that's all And the world looks just the same And history ain't changed 'Cause the banners, they all flown in the next war I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around me Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again No, no! I'll move myself and my family aside If we happen to be left half alive I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky For I know that the hypnotized never lie Do ya? YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! There's nothing in the street Looks any different to me And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye And the parting on the left Is now the parting on the right And the beards have all grown longer overnight I'll tip my hat to the new constitution Take a bow for the new revolution Smile and grin at the change all around me Pick up my guitar and play Just like yesterday Then I'll get on my knees and pray We don't get fooled again Don't get fooled again No, no! YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! Meet the new boss Same as the old boss
  11. You will now be able to get that new Camaro SS in blue! http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.p...9304&page=3
  12. The deed is done. I voted just before 3:30 PM and there had been almost 1,100 votes cast at my polling place. I believe the polls don't close until 8:00 or 8:30 PM, so turnout appears to be rather high. Just a side note - the voting instructions on the actual ballot are wrong ( don't agree with the machine you stuff them into) so I had to get a second ballot after following the written instructions since I split my ballot. Stupid that they have this wrong, I hope it doesn't become a big issue but you would think they would have checked for such things.
  13. And that is the source of much of our troubles. I favor a much more direct approach, that limits such convolutions.
  14. It came about as an underhanded way to make some voters believe that other voters were paying for the roads - and that's how it should be. It's a scam. An unnecessary level of deception. Infrastructure should be part of the budget coming out of the general fund as a line item, adjusted as required. The gas tax is a wasteful way to get to the same place.
  15. Chuck Norris? That's a new one.
  16. Your premise is deeply flawed. Reliance on gas tax revenue to maintain and improve our infrastructure is a proven failure. You are asking for more of the same. To fix the countless substandard, aging, and inadequate bridges, roads, rail systems, dams and so on will take a far greater commitment of resources - one that is long overdue. In fact, the entire practice of tying the gas tax to infrastructure needs to go away. It doesn't work now , and it won't work in the future. It is typical wasteful inefficient government foolishness that is used as leverage to pit the interests of one level of government against another. The exploration and implementation of alternative fuels, as well as infrastructure maintenance and improvement need to be high priority items not tied to yet another condescending, manipulative, social experiment. We need to get real about this and just fund what needs to be done directly without all of the asinine social engineering politicians are so insultingly fond of.
  17. If you read the above "open letter", it has very different motivations for admonishing the next chief executive to increase the gas tax. Those motivations (and the assumptions behind them) are the issue here. Infrastructure itself is the "separate issue" I'm refering to, we will have to do more on that front damn soon than the gas tax could ever support.
  18. An important, but separate, issue.
  19. All of the rancor and accusation, lies and half truths, posturing and pronouncing are drawing to a close. About 24 hours from now we should have a pretty good idea who will be piloting the Titanic for the next four years. Let's all wish him well - he faces the tallest order of troubles of any new President since FDR. And, let's wish ourselves well while we are at it - it's going to be a tall order for us as well. New horizons without a doubt.
  20. Longtooth, you have a geat deal of skill with the language - I look forward to reading many, many, more such posts from you! Levittown, Fairless Hills, and Neshaminy are all very familiar names to me. I would add some to that list as well, such as Phoenixville, Coatesville, and Reading. Mill towns all, and climbing their way back still.
  21. I've had a similar positive response to 'Ol Newt in his post-governmental days. I have seen him express a level-headedness and logical train of thought on many topics in interviews. His candor and thoughtful responses to questions make the current leadership of both parties look like real hacks. In fact, the word "lucid" comes to mind when thinking of his manner. Not so much the current crop of fumblers.
  22. I think everything is a flip these days, but I expect to enjoy it a little first. And, I haven't forgotten the wheel centers.
  23. Count me in with WMJ and Balthazar. There are better ways to get from A to B.
  24. Paint could be a while (budget issues). I want to get the rear underside done first also. EDIT: Inspection and some shakedown runs will happen first too.
