If nothing else, the editorial points out what cannot be permitted to happen here. The situations are quite different, and I believe that our own domestics do "get it", so I expect far different results. But, the piece does point out the importance of keeping the industry in place and prosperous.

This author needs an update. Also, one major difference is that the UK market is tiny by comparison forcing their carmakers to rely on exports. Apples and oranges.

To a point. Yes, GM is late to the party. No, I don't think that Camaro will be a failure. As for T/A, even if Firebird returns someday (unlikely), you will not see the T/A name back.

Too bad, that. Often pro athletes are a terrible example for kids to follow. It's like a social fallacy, an illusion we all subscribe to for no logical reason, a collective exercise in wishful thinking that these guys are always the all-American golden boys who belong on a pedestal. Reality says otherwise. Their talents and abilities on the field of play should be admired, the rest is just BS.

Sorry for the thread hijack, Schuby! The Ebay car is the last of only 20 1LE cars built in '99, the last year of the 1LE as an RPO. In 2000, there were no 1LEs built, then in '01 and '02 the 1LE was available only on Firehawks and Camaro SSs as an SLP-only option. All 1LEs are rare.

Actually, the count may even be lower than that. The car on Ebay was the last Factory 1LE Formula ever built. My '02 Hawk was the last SLP- installed 1LE F-body ever built.

Very cool! And it's got the CV8-R wheels! I love those wheels. As for the market here, yes I think they would do well. But I'm a bit biased. :AH-HA_wink:
