  1. The trick is to hold back - just enough.
  2. To expand on my very short response (a little), this approach is entirely wrong-headed, and is an example of a lazy dependence on old answers to the problem. It assumes utter failure in the quest for alternative fuels and advancement of automotive technology. It's like deciding to remain in debt and only pay interest while ignoring the principle. It also ignores all of the more effective measures we could be taking to reduce overall energy consumption other than automotive. It is time to throw off the old thinking and knee-jerk regulation and make a genuine push toward alternative fuels, commercial, industrial, and residential energy efficiency as well as developing oil shale resources with the goal of complete energy independence as the priority. As it is, these fools will all go home crowing about their latest "victory for the American people" while having done nothing which will impact the problem in any meaningful way. All that they will have accomplished will be the injury to our own domestic automakers and the limiting of personal choice with a few new taxes to further rub salt in the wound. Congress is incompetent to lead us into the future.
  3. With only one as an option, it has to be GTO. The last GTO broke the ice and offered the most upscale and sophisticated performance coupe in Pontiac's history as well as the best interior ever in a GM up to that point. As much as I love Firebirds, to do that car instead of GTO would be backsliding. There are many other reasons why Firebird is a bad idea at this time especially one which is a Camaro clone. GTO... ...and hurry!
  4. B&B and I will be leaving here early on Saturday morning, and should hit Carlisle before 10:00 A.M. I may hit the Fall show too.
  5. It could be a 230 or a 250 cubic inch engine, not a lot of power but it will move a half ton around ok. As far as the carb goes try a restoration supply co. like Kanter, they probably have the kit you need. My guess would be that it has a single barrel Rochester carb, and that the float and/or the accelerator pump is bad.
  6. Hang in there, I think GM will have a coupe or two for you soon.
  7. Now that's the way to deal with the problem!
  8. I'm ok with confiscating the cars, but not with crushing them. It is needless grandstanding by local authorities for their own agrandisement.
  9. About friggin time! The end of the Ws can't come quickly enough! Bring on the Zetas!
  10. Look at the counterweights: Are they drilled? Internally-balanced versions should have large diameter holes drilled into the counterweights - empty to lighten them and lead filled to make them heavier. The casting numbers could be the same, but I doubt it. It could be a service part issue (one size fits all) that GM used to save money making replacement parts- they do this all the time. I'm sure that there are other ways to check as well.

    Counterpoint

Good to see the truth being spread by those who know.
  12. It's looking like Saturday for me.
  13. The Camino is waiting for me to finish the wagon, but the color scheme will be GTO Brazen Orange Metallic with a pearl white and a light wood bed with stainless strips.
  14. They're the same, in real life the logo is very faint and hard to see. The "two-tone" is just a rough, aluminum finish vs. a polished one. I am thinking of using one, or both of the colors of the Camino in the "rough" area of the wheels.
  15. Thanks Delta, but I found them. See my post above your last two for the link. Edit: I think they will look better on the Camino than on any of their example cars on that site. Now, all I need is a chop.
  16. Too bad, it's a great event and the car show is absolutely HUGE! The last turn before the start/finish line is the best spot to watch. I'll find out the date and post it.
  17. Found 'em. http://www.introwheels.com/pages/w_exposed_5/vista_5.php
  18. I don't think so, I have looked at their lineup a few times and not seen this wheel. The one FOG posted is close and looks great, but I think it is different as well.
  19. The owner was AWOL.
  20. Long, hot, nasty day yesterday. The crew and I worked until 8:30 PM laying 2500 sq. ft. of sod. We took today off. :AH-HA_wink:
  21. I had a great time a few years ago at the Vintage race in the park in Pittsburgh, maybe I can go again.
  22. Last night at the Wawa I saw a '66 Impala SS convertible. Super clean in red with a white top and original SS hubcaps. It was being driven by a lady who appeared to be in her 60s at least. It pulled out of the lot just as a storm started to hit.
  23. To quote the Fbodfather, " I am bringing two of my orange friends, and one of them is going topless". He posted that on another board.
