  1. Just got done reading quite a bit about them. Yes, Rallye was the name of the black hood model. Yes, they were competition for the Capri (I owned one of those!) and they outhandled it, but the Capri won the power race. These cars continued in Europe until 1988! The updated ones are something like a Chevy Monza in appearance. The ones sold here were very similar to the GT, not the Kadett.
  2. We see things much the same way. Sedans are compromise cars by definition, coupes never should be.
  3. I'm not sure, but the one in the pic I posted is called a "K". I have a vague memory of a special name for them, but I can't remember more.
  4. I liked it too, except that the one I drove had almost no brakes at all.
  5. See above.
  6. That's the one!
  7. Wow! That eliminates all the desireable ones. I don't know what to say.
  8. No and No.
  9. I'm thinking of an Opel that I once drove, and its not a GT nor a Kadett. What is it?
  10. Agreed, no GTO badges on a sedan - ever!
  11. Wiseguy! No, but I have owned a Holden - sort of. :AH-HA_wink:
  12. Thanks Z, too bad you couldn't make it it would have been great to have you there. As for the Corvette show, I've never had a reason to go to that one. But who knows when I might. :AH-HA_wink:
  13. Owned: Chevy Pontiac Oldsmobile GMC Not owned: Buick (close more than once) Caddy Saturn Oakland Lasalle Geo Edit: And... Hummer Opel Vauxhall Elmore Marquette Euclid
  14. Well, here I go with what will likely be some unpopular opinions. :AH-HA_wink: - I hate all FWD Caddies with the exception of the last Seville STS and the last Eldorado. The rest are just plain hideous. The current DTS is only slightly less ugly than those weirdly proportioned 80s/90s Devilles which were the lowest point Caddy ever sank to. - Love the Sixteen, Cien, and XLR - Like the SRX - Never liked the CTS with the exception of the V Series which somehow made a car I thought was ugly attractive. I still don't know how that happened. - I like the STS better than the CTS, but not in love with it. -I understand the reason that the Escalades exist, but other than the very first models, I think they peg the gaudy meter. Too bad really, as some of the details are very nice in comparison to their Chevy/GMC counterparts. In any case, they are over-trimmed, over-priced versions of far more sensible Chevies and GMCs. The SUV for those with more money than brains.

  16. Thanks,my friend. The wreck was really nasty, three fatalities and 3 or 4 burned out cars. One car was crushed beneath the tractor of the Semi, which also burned to bits. There were other injuries and a 40+ mile section of the highway was closed for more than 8 hours. Glad we got an early start, or we would have spent our day there instead of the show.
  17. Don't worry about him, he has sold himself cheaply. That's his loss not yours.
  18. Any licensed driver can do it.

  20. Final group. After choosing "Miss Carlisle" they moved on to the burnout contest. There was also a rock climbimg area at the top of the hill where various Jeeps and a Blazer crawled all over a pile of boulders. One of them rolled with a very loud crash - we lost B&B for quite some time at this attraction. There was also automotive music coming from the Dyno all day long. On to the burnouts! Monza! What we saw after his "practice" Monza again. He eventually blew the right rear tire apart. 4th gen. He broke something as this car was smoking from the exhaust later on. A '67 takes its turn. A respectable job by this mid-2nd gen. This second gen was a full-on race car and he couldn't keep the car from trying to launch, if he had been able to, he would have been an easy winner. The winner! Along with the '67 owner this guy was a crowd favorite. Man does he have a clean-up job ahead of him! On our way back to the truck, I had to get a pic of this 41k original-mile '75 M/C for sale. That's all folks!
  21. One more group after this one. Vintage GMC with a huge, early V6! Very rare 1970 Monte Carlo SS 454. Goats on a hill. Late day view of a portion of the showfield. The grandstand view of the main stage as they prepared to choose "Miss Carlisle". Ask B&B about "JJ".
  22. Broadening the scope: You don't want this in your rear view mirror. I love that GM didn't scrap these demo cars, a few of them escorted the Concept Camaro at it's public Ren Cen debut. Spirit of America edition Caprice. Very nice '57 Sedan Delivery. It's 265 smallblock with dual quads and "batwing" air cleaner. Yup, it was a factory option! The Heavy Chevy pilot car! The '70 Camaro Pilot car was also present (sorry, no pic). The only '58 Sedan Delivery I have ever seen.
  23. to continue: Very tastefully done first gen Camaro. The Saturn Display. The GMMG Supercars were on display under one tent with HP ratings from 380 to the 630 on this Dick Harrel editon. The GMMG lineup. The front of the Dick Harrel car. Remember the Sunoco show car GM did in 2003? GMMG bought the molds from GM to create these monsters. Spec label. A slightly tamer? GMMG product.
