  1. That's why I won't commit the crime - the punishment is too harsh. :AH-HA_wink: Heading out to see the wagon in the morning, and I'm bringing the trailer!
  2. Protectionism isn't required, but fair trade practices are. The Government has fallen down on the job.
  3. I know this is a bit off-topic, but I once had a car with a 273 and it would be best described as anemic. I can't imagine swapping one in on purpose. I had a 340 too, now that one would work but I suspect be a bit harder to come by.
  4. So, the Volt. The existence of this car makes me wonder why all previous attempts at this sort of vehicle were so ugly. Obviously they don't have to be, the Volt proves that. But what could have motivated those earlier designers to carefully avoid anything resembling a pleasing style. After all, looks sell cars even if they are technological wonders.
  5. I was also glad to hear that GM intends to keep us all updated on the progress as the Volt moves toward production. Smart move, I think. I know I will enjoy hearing about both progress and process.
  6. "Oh the times, they are a-changin'..." :AH-HA_wink:
  7. None of which has anything to do with the topic at hand. The Prius had no bearing on my comments whatsoever. That car is yesterday's news and has nothing to do with the value of the Volt Concept or the fact that GM is pushing this technology forward with production intent. I am simply applauding GM's work in this area and determination to make it happen. What does that have to do with the prius? I'm positive and you are negative it's really as simple as that. Incidentally, I find it odd that you feel the need to attack me on this when I never mentioned you in my posts. I really don't care what you think on most topics nor do I care about the Prius. I only care about what GM is doing on this and I'm pleased so far. The naysayers have tried to doom this car from the start, but GM isn't listening to them and is moving ahead with the Volt. That's enough to please me quite a bit right now.
  8. Which means its been done so the parts are out there. As to which Mopar crate to use, I'm out of my element there. This project will need Mopar fans for support.
  9. Excuse me, oh rude one. But my opinion will continue to be expressed as I choose. Nothing in my post can be construed as that of an "ignorant hick" you just can't stand to have your doomsday spoiled. As to what I drove today, it was my Silverado. You know, the one built in Michigan. Every new car I have ever purchased has been GM, so stifle yourself on that front - you know better.
  10. Keep it all Mopar - it will make for a more viable project.
  11. The Volt is a major step forward and GM should be applauded for driving the technology toward production. The import-humping apologists have gotten it wrong on this one, very wrong. Much to my delight.
  12. The P.A. is just the latest proof that the greatest threat to our freedom is our own government.
  13. No need to close this thread, it will die on its own.
  14. Are you here for a reason, GXT?
  15. Good decisions.
  16. Don't buy a "used" car from that guy!
  17. I'm pretty sure I'll be dragging a '77 wagon home real soon. It will be getting the Camino's current drivetrain and giving-up its headers and tru dual exhaust (with cats) to the Camino. It will then be sold to help finance the crate motor for the project. This wagon is VERY clean, with an amazingly good interior, nothing but small surface rust areas, garage kept almost all of its life, still has factory paint. It also has a full set of original Rally wheels, if I decide to use them.
  18. That car is too nice- Cort would kill me!
  19. WoW,Ocn! What a well thought-out recipe! Much of it is in the works already. I have a FULL suspension rebuild ready to happen using all polygraphite bushings, new gas shocks, upgrade F/R sway bars, and I'm doing both front and rear suspension. The crate motor may well be an EFI unit which will require other mods to the fuel system and tank. As to limitations on time and budget: Yup they are there, but I am planning to divest myself of quite a bit of the current fleet and other items. For time, I want to see just how quickly I can pull this one off - so expect things to happen fast. I can barely see the parts car under all the boxes of new stuff!
  20. Thanks FOG, loved every sarcastic jab of it. Glad you're still here!
  21. Hawt is what we are after here,Ocn. :AH-HA_wink: Right now I'm still open to suggestion, but once I'm sure I'm gonna run with the decision.
  22. I've always liked that wheel. It was standard issue for the '71-'72 SS Chevelles and El Caminos as well as early '70s Z28s. Not sure I want it for this project - but who knows? Maybe it would win the chop contest.
  23. Too many to list, although late-model F-body cars and GTOs are a raging bargain at current prices.
  24. The Patriot Act has the original patriots redlining in their graves.
