  1. You guys missed a great show - there were huge numbers of cars from all eras. Sorry, no pics, my camera decided not to work.
  2. I'll be going shortly (noonish) and I'll have my cell if anyone else is going to be around.
  3. This show is happening right now. I saw a few cars headed there when I went out for my coffee this morning. I really don't have the energy to clean-up a car for it, but I think I'll go see the show anyway. Anyone else going to be there?
  4. I'm doing the copy and paste thing since I can only type this so many times. This response works for the few boards I really frequent so here goes: Thanks for all of the kind words everyone. It's good to have friends (even ones you have never met in person). We are planning "one lap" of my hometown with all of his friends in their collector/antique cars as the local shows and gatherings had come to mean alot to both of my parents over the last few years. My dad really was a "car guy" among other things, and I'm glad we can do something he would really enjoy. -Bob
  5. He had a peaceful passing. See you all in a few days.
  6. The Raider needs to crawl back under his rock.
  7. After repeated attempts, the asian companies still don't understand what a full-size pickup is - let alone know how to build one.
  8. Noce looking Colorado, Ocn.
  9. "Happiness is a warm gun"
  10. Thanks for the laugh,Ocn. Oldsmoboi and others: thanks for the pics
  11. It's an '88 Chevy Crew cab 4x4 ('87 bodystyle) that I've been restoring for years. It has a brand new (2 miles) gm engine and I've had the frame sand blasted and painted. Then it went to the bodyshop and sat for over 2 years. I post some pics eventually.
  12. - Finding out that the bodyshop that was supposed to paint your truck has gone out of business. -Having to have said truck towed home on short notice before the shop's landlord has it removed. -Seeing all the damage done to the truck from sitting outside so long. -Finding out that some of your new parts are missing along with all of the hardware to re-assemble the truck. - Not being able to get the shop owner on the phone. I don't need this crap right now!

This just might be the coolest FWD vehicle on the market.
  14. The cornerstone of GM is most certainly not Buick (except in a vague historical sense). The Cornerstone is Chevrolet.
  15. It's a '99-up LS1 car, the exact year is impossible to tell without very close inspection. Good to see it - thanks for the pic.
  16. Thanks everyone.
  17. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

    End Game

My dad is slipping away minute by minute and taking care of him becomes a bit more difficult each day. My family is on constant call and we have been taking turns dealing with the off-hour care that he needs. It's a truly draining experience and all of us are tired - most of all my dad. The hardest part is how much more difficult it is to communicate with him now and to understand him on the rare occassions when he speaks. He is less present all the time and aware only in a vague way. The experience is even more overwhelming than I had ever thought it would be. This may sound stupid, but I'm not really looking for sympathy with this post. It's more the need to just "put it out there" that motivates me to write this all out . So, I have a request. Please don't comment on this, I know it is hard to resist offering support so if you want to just post a blank acknowlegement - that will be enough. Words fail sometimes, and just knowing that others are there is somehow better. Thanks.
  19. My Uncle, who is 72, spent 9 hours yesterday keeping the vermin away from the funeral. He is a life-long volunteer fireman/fire policeman and firefighters from all over volunteered to help out. There are some good folks around after all.
  20. It would make a great dog hauler. I always wonder how this happens with such plain basic cars.
  21. I like the idea and I always wanted to see that show, but I have to decline this year.
  22. Dodge used to use the Sportsman name on it's full-size vans. (long time ago).
