  1. I hate hood props, lots of Fords have them too.

  3. I've come very close to buying an Avalanche several times, so your nomination makes sense. Now they finally look good.
  4. I don't hate you,BV. I just hate Honda.
  5. No FWD, my friend, no FWD.
  6. Some wild sheetmetal on those boattails, the tooling must've been expensive.
  7. There is at least an 85% chance the next ride will be Pontiac or Chevy.
  8. OK, let's see if I can catch up. Brandon: Yes ,please! Z: That would be pretty cool for budget fun. Dodge: I like the Magnum but the dogs won't fit- so that's out. You must have forgotten that I Hate the Charger. Infiniti? -no thanks. 70 CUDA?!! Hell yes! Mustang : I'd get torn limb from limb I do like them though. BV: TC: umm,no. Capriceman: It depends, but definitely less than a C6. 04 Monte: Yes,Yes,No,No, Oh Yes. WMJ: a definite possible maybe Northie: You've gotten to know me too well. :AH-HA_wink: WMJ V2.0: 1972 and older and you've got my attention ( with a few exceptions '73-up)
  9. Cobalt is out, as I'll never buy a new FWD anything. Corvette is more than I'm likely to spend. But Kappa,... maybe.
  10. Here's a little more background information. A few of the cars not listed(pictured) in the sticky topic "Camino's Old rides Index". I have no pics of these: '71 Impala coupe '73 Plymouth 340 Duster '71 Plymouth Duster '68 Chevy C/10 '68 Nova sedan '70 Chevelle coupe
  11. You guys all know by now that I'm working on cleaning house(selling all my cars). So, having seen many of my old rides and knowing my current ones, what do you think my next one will be or should be? I'm all over the map. New/old, truck/SUV/Car, classic wagon/El Camino, a Zeta variant, even tempted by Kappa. Even I can't guess what it will be. So make your suggestions/predictions now and we'll see who nails it. Even I don't know what the answer will be.
  12. Beautiful! Congrats,man.
  13. I've encountered just about every level of knowlege in car salesmen. My experiences are not the norm though because I already know precisely what I want before I go to the dealer. I also walk in with a printout of the vehicle specs and invoice pricing in my hand. What I have done is develop a relationship with the dealer so we both know how the deal is going to go before it happens. They know me by name and know that I'm going to bring them more sales because they treat me right and don't play games with me. I always know more about current and future product than they do, but they know the nuts and bolts of the transaction and that makes for an easy process. The poll would have to be worded differently for my vote to be of value.
  14. Yes, you can get a co-signed loan in PA. Yes, that BMW will hurt you in repair/maintenance costs. Yes, there will always be another car out there to grab your fancy.(although I understand the obsession with the one you've found. Buy a cheap, low mileage, old American cruiser to beat to death and get a job so you can save some cash for the next prize find you see along the road. Whenever I needed cheap transpo quick, I found some old folks with one-owner Olds sedans. They are usually well-maintained and can be beaten without a ton of repairs and are very reliable. I also was able to re-sell them easily when I moved on to something nicer.
  15. Good, good, good. Absolutely the way to go.
  16. You don't have to be 18 with a co-signer. But, getting a job first might be a good idea.
  17. Who's got the US figures at hand?( Avalon/Impala base prices etc.) I can't make the Canadian pricing connection in my head.
  18. Why not? That fact is a major endorsement of its reliability.
  19. KappaII may be a misnomer anyway, just an internet name for the "new, small RWD" architecture Lutz has said is being worked on. But, I take him at his word that it is coming.
  20. OK, hold the phone, How much does an Avalon cost? 40k Canadian? what's that 32k US or so ? WOW! I would have guessed a base price of 25K or so. I can't imagine spending that much on an Avalon.
  21. I don't have the specs at hand, but the cam was changed in the LS1 for use in the GTO to produce more torque at lower RPMs. Yes, the skip-shift is the same in both cars. The Hawk doesn't like to cruise slowly in a high gear, so I usually use 1-4 when I'm not on a high speed road. In all but the slowest conditions, I can use all 6 gears in the GTO.
  22. Well, that's really too bad. If we are going to see anyhting else (other than a Solstice coupe, perhaps) it would have to be "on the books" very soon. The upside could be that KappaII might be here sooner. I could live with that.
