  1. My perfect Riv would be a black '71 boattail w/ no vinyl top, 455, Buick mags, narrow stripe whitewalls. Big, bold, & beautiful. A silver '63-65 would be my second choice.
  2. I had a similar problem with a manually folding, heated power mirror on my Jeep Grand Cherokee..after hitting the mirror on a freeway construction barrel at 50mph it was just hanging by the wires, the plastic base broken. I got a replacement mirror head w/ glass and wiring for about $100 on the internet (some discount mirror supply place)....hooked it up and attached it myself (the most work was getting the interior door panel off).
  3. I've never had an issue w/ the glare of DRLs...then again, I usually always wear sunglasses when driving in the daytime...they polarize the stuff, I guess..
  4. Yes, I know what you mean..I've found in general the Detroit area (and many other places in the Midwest) have a 'best days are behind it', dying feel to them.. it seems their glory days are long past, and they are in the downward spiral. Totally different feel from cities in the west, metro areas I've lived in like Denver and Phoenix have experienced growth booms for the last decade or more and seem fresh and new feeling overall...
  5. Yes, same place in the hierarchy.... the BRX and RDX are targeting the X3...I assume Lexus will have a model in there eventually, below the RX...and Merc is likely going to have an MLK eventually.
  6. Poor design and engineering, it sounds like...
  7. Don't the Tahoe and Yukon share doors and rear quarters as well? And glass?
  8. So Buick is replacing the Ultra designation with 'Super' for the top-of-the-range models? Seems too retro...'Super' just seems so...OLD. (When I think of a Buick Super I think of something from the '40s or early '50s).
  9. You serious?? The decklid doesn't open when the top is down? That's beyond stupid if that is the case... I believe other folding roof cars (Mercs, etc) have some space that can be accessed under the folded roof when the top is down...
  10. Not going to happen. Good daydream, though.
  11. It's just wishful thinking...
  12. Hmmm.....suppose, for the sake of argument, that to spread the costs out, GM does go out on a limb and do 4 RWD sedans off this new platform---a Chevy Impala, Pontiac Grand Prix, Saturn something, and a Buick something...yeah, it's a stretch, but theoretically possible. A large Saturn sedan could be called the Aurora, it fits well with Aura and the space theme of the Saturn name, and would be a link back to Olds which occupied the same place in the hierarchy that Saturn is moving to, or so it seems... Of course, this is all random blather, sunny day daydreaming....given GM's current condition, I wouldn't be surprised if none of these or other possible RWD models (Camaro, GTO, Velite) appear...it could be in five years that GM (at least as far as C/P/S/B are concerned) is still churning out mostly FWD G-bodies, W-bodies, Epsilons, and Deltas...
  13. The Lucerne effectively replaced both... it goes beyond what the PA offered--it has a V8, for example. If Buick was going to have a RWD top-of-the-line sedan anytime soon, it would have already been shown... maybe in 2-3 years..
  14. Hmmm....they already replaced the Park Avenue...the Lucerne replaced it and the Le Sabre.
  15. It can't be any more boring than Steubenville, Ohio or Gnadenhutten, Ohio...(the Ohio towns I spent my youth in or near). Nothing going on there besides clay festivals, basket shops, abandoned factories, abandoned coal mines, a little farming, Amish furniture stores, cheese houses... pretty country side (the backroads around there are hilly and twisty and fun to drive on) but I couldn't imagine living there..the career opportunities are very limited. My mom and brother still live in the Gnadenhutten area.. my brother is into pickup trucks, huntin', fishin', and country music, so he's happy there... ,after a couple days there visiting, I'm bored out of my mind so I have to drive 50 miles to get to traces of my familiar suburbia (Starbucks, Borders, Best Buy, Target, etc)...
  16. Not remotely..vaguely similar roofline, but the GTO is larger and has different proportions...
  17. AWD Previa... I don't know about the GM dustbusters...I haven't seen one in ages.
  18. Charger/Magnum/300 are Chrysler's full size models..the midsizers (Stratus/Sebring) are very much badge-engineered...
  19. I saw a very clean '78 Electra 4dr--dark red w/ white top-- today...don't see those very often. Whitewall tires, Buick mags..
  20. A buddy of mine has one of the AWD ones with 250k miles on it...
  21. I'll admit to reading my g/f's Vanity Fair every month... though it has an image as a chick mag, there is very good writing in there...
  22. Some of the suburbs and surrounding areas are pretty nice, though... I lived out in Ann Arbor for 3 years when I was in grad school....a really nice town, and not just a college town. The lousy winters and economy keeps me from considering moving back there, though.
  23. Growing up in Ohio & Florida, I'd heard of Jack in the Box but never had it until I started visiting Phoenix regularly in the '80s. I had heard of In and Out and Fatburger but never had them until I went to California... we now have Fatburger here in Denver--pretty good. Last time I was in LA (a couple weeks ago), though, I ate at Big Boy on Wilshire. Neat 50s architecture to the building.. they had Big Boys in Ohio when I was a kid, but hadn't eaten in one in maybe 15 years.
  24. The last Caprice was 116 wb and 77 inches wide..it was a whale... I think 116 wb, 74 inches wide, and 200 inches long would be more than large enough for a RWD Caprice revival...
  25. I like the 777 also...it felt more spacious and seemed quieter than a 747... I've flown in both across the pond (British Airways) in coach... I did business class once on a BA 777..that was probably the most comfortable I've been on a big plane before..
