  7. I read a really good book a while back on the origins of the English language and how US and British English have evolved over the last 300+ years...really fascinating.

  17. Like a majority of car buyers & leasees- they probably never consider the TCO but are only looking at monthly payments...
  18. As well as the Internet and pants, Al Gore invented the fuel cell.
  19. 1. The Patriot act goes far beyond opening up communication between agencies (which itself is a good thing). 2. Yes, but how many of those are sh*tty McJobs at McDonalds or Wal-Mart? I know in my industry (software) there has been a huge loss of decent paying ($60-120k/yr) development jobs in the last 5 years, due to outsourcing and general economic malaise...
  20. Probably not..I read they weren't going to do a RHD version of this car...
  21. Agreed...live and let live. I have no problem with people having beliefs...I have mine--I'm a secular humanist/functional realist/athiest... I don't believe in a heaven or hell--you are born, you live, you die...make the most of your time on this earth.
  22. I saw an '07 Yukon for the first time yesterday...looks pretty good, but I prefer the Tahoe nose...(I just don't care for vertical headlight arrangements).
  23. The hybrid seems like a reasonable approach for now as it can be built with existing technology and doesn't require changes in usage patterns or infrastructure. There is a gas mileage increase, but more importantly (the point which everyone seems to miss) is that they are cleaner..
  24. Yes...I used to live near Walnut Creek, Ohio, and when people would pronounce it Walnut Crick, I assumed they were hicks or West Virginia transplants (which there were a lot of in Eastern Ohio). Now Walnut Creek, Ca is a very nice place...my company's CEO lives there.
  25. The also have a '67 Camaro convertible and '70 Chevelle SS convertible in the Classics line, new for '06...I found a couple recently, pretty nice--redline tires and spectraflame paint.
