I remember Pontiac ads being fun...though being cars and not motor cycles I thought 'get on your Pontiac and ride' was a bit odd. Cougar ads stuck in my head growing up.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6vMpg1-V1cg There is one from '85-86 with the Cougar and the old song 'Ain't No Mountain High Enough' but I can't find it. I remember liking 'The Boss in Back' '82 Mustang GT ad.. And the '87 Mustang GT ad is for the car that stole my heart as a teenager...really want to get mine back..

I think one advantage Rivian has is they don't have the crazy Elon factor.- 25 replies

Note that it says 'While we in the US get the gasoline version of the SQ5..' in the last sentence. The gas version should be a good competitor for the XT5-V. Oh, wait, there is no XT5-V..

I'm really hoping Chevy builds a crossover coupe version of the C8...mid engined 2 seat crossover coupe, that would be a game changer...

I like the driver-centric angling of that Cadillac concept dash, kind of retro early 70s feel to me. I like the new A8, esp. the taillight treatment. -

They could spell it 'El Mirage' like the town in Arizona. Eldorado would be the best name for it, IMO. Beautiful concept..I'd love to see them build a big RWD, 2dr hardtop. If M-B and Bentley can build 2dr hardtops, GM can too... -

Not common, though. -
Collecting diecast cars of all scales have been a hobby for decades, though I've cut back a lot, as well as model car kits (mostly 1/24th & 1/25th scale). I haven't built one in ages, but still buy them occasionally..need to get back into building. One new hobby I've started since moving back to NE Ohio is visiting Great Lakes lighthouses and starting a collection of lighthouse miniatures..not sure why, but I'm fascinated by the lakes, lake freighters and shipping, etc. Things I didn't see in the dry dusty desert void..

As far as the C8 goes, it will be interesting to see what the base price of it is... Boxster/Cayman range or more like R8 or NSX range? -

The Audi interior dfelt posted is the A8, I believe. I like the hidden dash vents. Nothing retro I see, other than a horizontal dash w/ raised gauge pod, which many past Audis had. -
I should have visited the Skywalk before I left AZ...completely forgot about it..the last year I was there I was too busy planning my escape. Maybe in 10 years I'll take a vacay out there and see more of the Southwest..

I'd definitely go for a full size SUV for a road trip w/ kiddos. I used to rent Tahoes and Yukons for long weekends and drive from Phoenix to LA or San Diego and back.. great road trip vehicles...

Oddly, of the 6 cars I rented in Cleveland in '16-17, 4 of them had out of state plates...Florida, New York, Tennessee and PA IIRC..
-
Could be..;) As an aside, though they already have the AWD GT, I'd really like to see a Challenger Trailhawk...with the same ground clearance as a Grand Cherokee Trailhawk, same tires, skid plates, Quadra Trac II, etc...that would be a rad 'crossover coupe'. Likewise for GM fans, a Camaro ZR2 w/ the off road chops of the Colorado ZR2 would be cool..

Mercedez Benz News Curtains for the Mercedes-Benz SLC
Robert Hall replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Mercedes-Benz
Back in '07-08 had a coworker that had a first gen one in a typical '90s teal. Another coworker had a dark green BMW Z3 roadster (later replaced w/ a black Boxster S). Oddly, both of them drove them year round in Denver... -
The thing I always found with rental cars is the brakes seemed very grabby and everything seemed clean and new. Working power windows was a nice feature. Then I got back into my old Jeep and not so much. But back then the rental cars were relatively new w/ low mileage (under 5k usually) and my old Jeep was much older and worn... I haven't driven a rental car in almost 2 years since moving to Ohio...the last rentals I drove were here in Cleveland in 2016-2017 from the airport on visits here when I was house shopping then after I closed on the house and was working on the move...IIRC, Ford Focus, VW Passat, Nissan Altima, Chevy Malibu, Ford Escape, Toyota Camry.

Yes, as always, the West Coast is ahead of everywhere else..always on the leading edge.

Since I ditched cable, I pretty much stream everything to my Fire TV w/ Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, etc. I use a USB key for my music collection to play in my Jeep, though I do use Sirius XM often and CDs in there also.
-
Maybe, but I'm not buying one, but then again, I'm not buying an EV anytime soon either...I figure I'll be driving another 30 years maybe, I don't see ICE vehicles disappearing in the next 30 years.

Yeah, stuff gets obsolete after a few years, have to get new stuff to replace the old stuff...the cycle of life. Though some formats remain useful longer..I still have and use CDs though I have most everything in MP3s also. And I still have Blu Rays though I mostly stream video content...

I'd assume in the future chargers will just be another piece of standard infrastructure in home construction, integrated into the electrical stuff..

I really can't imagine GM doing that..they prefer FWD/transverse crossovers on shared platforms across 4 brands. The volume appliances is where they are. -
Heated with the turn signal repeater...too bad it wasn't the power folding type. Looks like I can get one off eBay for around $100-120. I replaced the passenger mirror on my old Jeep after hitting a highway orange barrel with it 15 years ago. It only cracked the non-chromed part (black) of the outer lower housing and took out a chunk..a little black electrical tape or duct tape and it will be fine for now.. Everything still works.

Backing out of my garage this afternoon I smashed my passenger side mirror on the garage door frame...damn narrow ass garage.
