‘55 Chevy in the parking lot at Marblehead Lighthouse on Lake Erie. Also saw a sharp purple '57 Bel Air 2dr ht on the road, a gorgeous red '64 Bonneville convertible top down rolling along, a white w/ blue stripes '04-05 Ford GT, and a very clean red w/ red interior '87-89 Mustang GT convertible.

I miss going to coffeehouses. There was a really good one in downtown Ann Arbor and one in Colorado Springs that I spent a lot of time in my 20s-early 30s inhabiting. The Ann Arbor one I would hang out at with other PhD students to study and talk, and the one in Colorado Springs I hung out at with several friends I worked with at 3 different companies, we spent a lot of time coding and planning there back in the dot.com era...

Audi News: Audi to Show off 2 Door Auto BEV Love at Pebble Beach
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Audi
Looks like it’s built for a driver and passenger under 5 ft tall. Exaggeratedly low roofline. -
Mediocrity.

As much as I dislike the c-pillar trim, the CT5-V seems like a tasty package, esp. w/ the manual. The last hurrah of V8 RWD manual sports sedans... Poor old Jeep...at least in AZ my old one didn't have to deal with rust. I've seen a few WJs around here with some serious rust around the wheel arches, still on the road after 2 decades...

I'm sure there are more than a few rich Tesla fanboys that would buy a $1m Cybertruck. Tesla fandom is a cult, Elon can do no wrong in their eyes.

Saw a weird crash scene this evening. On I-77 southbound saw a late model BMW 5-Series up close against the left median lane divider. Flashers on, no signs of damage, but all the side curtain airbags had popped. Driver was sitting on the divider on the phone. Came back past about 3 hours later, and it was sitting in the same spot on a rollback wrecker, and drivers side looked fine, no sign of damage, but the curtain air bags popped. Faulty airbag sensors?

Item: 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Duramax

Fascinating, didn’t realize anything had a locking steering column 80+ years ago. -

I’d read about push button start from olden days, and manual chokes and other such features, but never drove anything with such features. IIRC, first modern car with a push button start I drove was a rental 2011 Cadillac STS. Up until then, everything I’d driven had a key. I remember driving cars that had two keys—one for the ignition and one for doors and rear. Ford was still doing that in the late 80s. -

It's been very uncommon until the last 10-15 years, though..I'd never encountered it before something in a rental car a decade ago probably.. and I've been driving since '86. -

Yes, that's been my experience w/ my Jeep. First keyless start vehicle I've had, and can't imagine going back to twisting a key. -
Is the 2 Door Muscle car era coming to an End?
Robert Hall replied to G. David Felt's topic in Opinion
It is sad, I remember when there were many 2dr coupes, hatchbacks, 2dr sedans and convertibles on the market...not that long ago....30 years ago when I was in my early 20s. 2 doors used to be very popular w/ young drivers and single drivers of all ages. I mostly drove 2drs until I was 30. I wouldn't mind having another 2dr again, the impracticality of long doors make them irritating (couldn't use one w/ my current garage). -
Despite 4 years of Spanish between high school and college, I don’t know much Spanish-language slang. I did learn ‘pendejo’ and uses of ‘chingas’ from Cuban friends in high school, though.

Or 'DETH' like Jack Deth in 'Trancers'... As far as adolescent license plates, 'DEF0K8R' would be cool to have....(defecator--as in 'the one who poos'). Always thought 'Defecator' would have been a cool muscle car name, like Eliminator.

I've never gone for a personalized plate because people remember them...better to keep a low profile with an anonymous number. Though I still have thought 'NO CUBE' would be a cool plate...

On Tour - 2019 Buick Regal TourX
Robert Hall replied to regfootball's topic in Member's Rides Showcase
^ happens to me often...if I see an empty parking space next to another GC, I take it..and I often find other people doing the same with me. Though probably less common with Tour Xes because they were so low volume. -
Must be some local cultural reference....8 BREAD would vaguely make sense, as in 'I ate a sandwich' or 'I ate toast'.

Speaking of California plates and plate frames, I could get an 'Orange Coast Costa Mesa' dealer frame for my Jeep, as that is where it was originally sold. I've seen a few neat old ones from that dealer, chrome w/ raised letters and not the usual plastic.

What makes those Camaro renders so bad is they are based on the previous generation from a decade ago…. I suspect they will do an EV crossover like the Mach E instead.
-
True that, doesn’t hurt that they are really handsome trucks also, esp w/ the Denali chrome.

I observed a random or not so random pattern today. Beautiful sunny 72F today, so the yard services were out in force...my yard service, the guy across the street's service, and one down the street...3 different companies. All have black double cab 2016-2018 GMC Sierra pickups towing their trailers. All w/ chrome wheels. At least one is a Denali. So I guess black Sierras are the pickup of choice of suburban Cleveland yard service proprietors. (admittedly a small sample size of one street). On the next street over, I spotted another yard service w/ a red 14-15 Silverado...

My favorite of the '72-79 BOF Ford & Mercury midsize models...the '72 Gran Torino Sport..love that roofline and the big grille and bumper. Interesting how much the styling had changed by the end of the run of that generation. Squint and you can see the windshield is still the same (as was the dash and other interior bits). the outside was squared off for '77 when the Torino became the LTD II.
