  1. Autoblog: BMW Confirms Plans for Front Wheel Drive Models Inside Line: BMW Front Wheel Drive Prototype Spied Apparently, the i3 is different from those and will be rear-engine, RWD like the Smart fourtwo...the i3 is evolution of the MegaCity concept. From what I've read, the FWD models will be the next gen 1 series 4drs and hatches (and maybe a 0 series below those), while the 2 series coupe and cabrio will be RWD. Sounds like between the i sub-brand, the '0' series, the splitting of the 1 series into 1 and 2, BMW will be adding at least 1/2 dozen or more models in the next few years....and MB will probably add 1/2 dozen or more, filling in the various gaps and creating new niches (how about 2dr coupe CUVs?
  2. I bet the ELR won't look much like the Converj either...
  3. Mercedes (note the spelling) has shown the A-class concept...
  4. Why not? Cadillac has plenty enough 4drs.
  5. I wonder if the new concept car will be a hybrid compact hatchback? Something to compete w/ the Lexus CT...or a V-series version of the tiny 2dr microcar that was shown a while back (a Spark based city car, maybe?)
  6. Lovin' the '76 Coupe de Ville. The '58 is pretty sweet also.
  7. Sounds like they get out of alignment easily. Weak FWD appliances.
  8. +1. I never cared for the headlight & grille treatment on the Yukon..always thought it looked funny. As far as the Chevys, I like the Tahoe/Suburban front end more than the Silverado. Though the Silverado front end works well for a truck.
  9. Cool...the dark green reminds me of an old diecast toy Imperial I have of that era..one thing I've wondered before about the stainless steel roof on models like this (or the Caddy Eldo in the '80s)--is the outer roof skin SS or is it an SS panel overlaying the regular roof skin (like a vinyl top)?
  10. Dover
  11. Infrastructure would have to be in place for me to consider one..must be some here, given the Leafs. It would be a big change for me to consider one...the available electric cars are just too small and cramped and limited for me currently... For $45k, I'd rather have something serious w/ RWD and a V8.
  12. 2011 Volt was only released in 5 markets and AZ was not one of them. The 2012 rollout is supposed to happen in October all over the country. Contrary to that Leaf was released all over the country. No, it's sold here...there are two on the lot at the local Chevy store now, priced at $45,288. I just haven't seen any on the road other than a wrecked one.
  13. Chiropractors are the healing fingers of Jesus all over your back. I highly recommend. +1. I've gone to a chiro periodically since my accident in '94 (hard rear-end collision). That and a massage a couple times a month and an ergonomic chair keeps my back and neck in good working order..
  14. Maybe one of the hundreds of very low volume UK cottage industry supercars that appear and dissapear every month?
  15. Other than a wrecked one on a flatbed, I have yet to see any Volts out in the real world. Yet I see Nissan Leafs (Leaves?) several times a week..
  16. I seem to recall reading somewhere that drag racers used to use Olds diesel blocks to build race engines.
  17. Camry or Corolla, for something different.
  18. On the original theme, my Dad used the excuse he needed a tow car for the family motorhomes (like a dinghy) to buy a '77 Vega, then later an '81 Chevette Scooter (most depressing, stripped down car I've ever ridden in), and later an '84 Escort diesel (which was decent and the car I learned to drive in).
  19. He and his family had gone camping w/ the 'burban and a pop-up trailer, the Eurovan has a pop up roof, a self-contained camper. Last time I talked to him, he was looking at getting a small motorhome and a 4x4 pickup. The 914 was his first Porsche, bought it used in grad school in the 80s, kept it all these years..in really good shape. (Used to be owned by a Brady Bunch cast member also, apparently).
  20. Saw a pair of bodacious, beautiful topless B-bodies today...both in butterscotch w/ white interiors. A '73 Centurion convertible and a '73 88 convertible. Drool.
  21. i long for the days when "nerds" drove turbo diesel Mercedes Benz wagons, BMW 3-series sedans & the REAL nut-job with a pocket protector would have a Volvo or maybe SAAB 900 "5-door" Heh-heh.. Two of the Prius early adoptor's buddies who I also worked with together at three companies are also some of the most hardcore techies I've had they pleasure of working with (they were mentors to me when I was a young code monkey fresh out of grad school) and are car geeks also---one has 6 vintage GTOs, a '96 Cutlass convertible, an '06 GTO, and an '09 G8 GXP...the other has 3 '70s Porsches (914, '76 911, '78 930 Turbo), a VW Eurovan (which replaced his white '89 Suburban when it eventually died), and recently bought a 1996 911 Carrera 4.
  22. 'It was the geekiest car I could find'. - A buddy of mine (who is a long time software engineer/hardcore UNIX guy) when he bought his 1st gen Prius over 10 years ago. He now has a 3rd gen one.
  23. I've always liked the '77-79 B- and C- bodies, esp. the Oldses...crisp and clean. Love those red interiors.
  24. Like most cars partial photoas are not always smart to pass final judgment on. It always best to see them in person as they take on a whole different look in 3D. The CTS coupe looks odd in photos but in person it pops. cts coupe always looks drop dead gorgeous to me in person when i see one. saw a white one the other day, i was just oogling for a long time. my only CTS coupe complaint is how fat the proportioning of the lower body is......hard to fix without dropping the bottom of the glazing or picking up the bottom of the body a couple inches....... I spent a 1/2 hr or so wandering around the local Caddy store lot last night, checking out and sitting in a dark gray CTS coupe, CTS sedan, wagon, DTS sedan..they had a goregous dark red CTS-v coupe rotating on an outside dias, a silver CTS-v sedan in the showroom, and a black CTS-v wagon in the showroom...
