  1. For the mid engine car, absolutely, should be geared towards HP... But I'd like to see a torquer version, lower top rpm but thicker torque band that starts lower, for use in the Escalade and possibly the CT6.
  2. Sure, it can be a new Omega (won't that be confusing...). Power it with the 1.6 diesel, 2.0t, and 3.6 in Europe. Add a 3.0t for US and AU.
  3. Sure, if you spin it to 18,000 rpm, but you still have no torque. And no one is getting 500hp from 4 liters unless there is some forced breathing going on, so as soon as you do that you have additional complications and weight. A 6.2 liter will have awesome torque off the line while a turbo 4 liter is still waiting to spool up.
  4. The CT6 already is slated to have a twin-turbo dohc V8 of around 4 to 5 liters. I doubt getting it to 6.2 without a turbo would be that hard.
  5. That works out to $29.00 or less per Buick sold in China in just 2016..... Plus GM sells a lot more than just Buicks in China. It's barely even a slap on the wrist.
  6. Fine... I'll take an Alpha based Buick mid-size Sedan with a formal roofline. I'll get the scale out of China and Holden. I'm sure the Chinese elite would eat it up.
  7. Just because everyone else is doing it doesn't mean GM has to. I like their pushrod V8s, I have no problem with them offering both. Pushrod has some distinct advantages over DOHC for packaging. Yes, DOHC may get more horsepower per liter, but pushrod can stuff a lot more liters in there.... and with GM's technology of being able to shut off cylinders, they can get a lot of the efficiency of those smaller displacement engines as well. This DOHC 6.2 sounds like it will be great, but that doesn't change the fact that anywhere this engine fits, a S/C pushrod 7.5 - 8 liter would also fit.
  8. I think Cadillac today has the resources to do an XLR right, but I think they have the wits about them to realize they have other fish to fry first. That said, as long as the other stuff is already in the pipeline, starting today for an early 2020+ release wouldn't be bad.
  9. As you know being the "ultimate" in performance for a given class isn't a priority for me. It simply has to be sufficiently satisfying as long as I like the rest of the car. I've driven the S90 twice now and loved it. @Paolino, you would really enjoy the ride of the S90, it is the cloud-like ride you've been missing. About the Chinese, they're essentially the bank account and little else. The Swedes make all of the design decisions for their cars.
  10. This would make an awesome CT6-V engine, or a retuned model for the Escalade
  11. An odd comparison to make given the price spread. The Volvo is a fantastic sedan, I take it over and Benz and the CTS or XTS. So I suppose it is rather complimentary that they are comparing the LAX to it.
  12. As long as you're okay. She did her job.
  13. Well that's just the average. Who stands out as especially bad?
  14. Lines that don't look like they were drawn by an ADHD 5 year old (side eye toward the lexus front ends and BMW side slash marks) Real rooflines again. Everything is a bubble. The closest I can get to a formal roofline these days is a Chrysler 300.
  15. The CT6 is not the best selling vehicle on the road today. The massive difference in volume between the F-150 and the CT6 is why we're not that concerned about the Cadillac. Cadillac will likely just flatbed a damaged CT6 to the nearest available repair shop the same way Tesla does. If cadillac were moving 300k CT6s a year, then yes, that would be a cause for concern. As far as the weight savings on the F-150... all it did was make a heavy truck into an average weight truck. It brought down the weight to within what the competition was doing. I will say that Chevy's commercial was effective, at least on my mother. She called and asked about that because I think she is thinking about a new King Ranch soon and she does put heavy stuff that could pierce the bed back there. I told her to just make sure she gets a bed liner insert and not to worry about it.... but she didn't seem convinced. I guess we'll see what happens. My dad has been an F-series driver for 45 years... I can't see him changing things.
  16. For people who can afford $72k for a car, it probably is a really sweet deal to get 707 horsepower.
  17. What's your most feared driver stereotype? I don't mean just people who annoy you on the road, I mean people you avoid because you think they'll do damage to you or your vehicle. For me, it is women of a certain age in mini-vans. The typical subject is about 104 lbs, has the seat pushed as far forward as possible, wears giant Jackie O sunglasses, and is an assistant manager somewhere. She only has two modes of driving; slow and erratic in the left lane while arguing on the phone or Michael Schumacher with a bad case of diarrhea and searching an unfamiliar place for a toilet. So how about it? Who out there makes you fear driving?
  18. Where else are you going to get 707 horsepower for that price?
  19. that will change as time goes on and the tech is rolled out to more cars. The Tesla was/is like that too and that doesn't seem to be limiting things.
  20. In the first one I feel like there will be a middle age man voice over telling me all of the fascinating attributes of the sporty new-for-1984, import beating, Mercury Topaz. The second one, with a slightly higher BPM and more synthetic snare has all the makings of an instructional video on the 1982 Pontiac LeMans Bonneville G, a car that brings you the combination of classic lines, sporty styling, and Driving Excitement from its 3.8 liter V6 and 3-speed automatic. Available in only 4-door sedan or 5-door station wagon layout.
  21. The sad thing is I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or serious....
  22. Let me know. I'd like to stop by if you get it.
