  1. Indeed, there should have been a higher performance Cruze model way back when. Even just the 1.6T would have been nice.
  2. That's exactly what this truck is for.... people who think they need an 4x4 Truck to bring home 10 bags of mulch from Lowes... (yet my '04 CRV handles at least 16)
  3. "big engine" will be relative I'm sure.
  4. "Full time 4WD, also called permanent 4WD, (not to be confused with:part time 4WD ) is a system that powers all four wheels at all times and it can be used full time on all surfaces including pavement. The additional feature of a differential incorporated into the transfer case makes it possible to use 4WD all the time. 2WD is not available (only part time 4WD offers that option)" http://www.rubicon-trail.com/4WD101/difference_4WD_awd.html The system the "auto" system that Chevy does, my Avalanche had it, leaves the front wheels on partially. In Auto, I could drive it normally. In 4Hi, the front wheels would bind up if I tried to take too tight of a turn. It was more of a "locked front end" when in 4Hi. Ya Rock! That was a great link to explain the differences. Cadillac really needs to clarify the Full Time 4WD. AWD with a 4LO option is what it really is and that is great. I think all of the GM products that have 4wd can be run in "auto 4wd" all the time. It hits you at the gas pump, but you can do it. Most of the time, I ran my Avalanche in 2wd mode because there was no need for more than that.

  6. The Canyon is not AWD, it is 2WD or 4WD like most trucks. There is no difference in the Denali. The Denali trucks and full-size SUVs, and Escalade used to come with active full-time AWD, but they are now 2wd/4wd. See that makes sense but I could have sworn I read something about an AWD system. Ohhhhh well. Thanks! Okay, FOUND IT! Well.. what I was talking about... "Rear drive is standard, but our tester was equipped with the optional full-time four-wheel-drive system. " http://www.motortrend.com/news/2016-gmc-canyon-duramax-diesel-4x4-first-test-review/ I guess when I read "full-time four-wheel-drive system." It made me think AWD. That is a mistake on MotorTrend's part. It is not full time. In this picture, look through the steering wheel on the lower left side. That's the dial that lets you turn the truck to 2wd mode... thus, not "full-time".
  7. So you are thinking this could be a district manager trying to make himself look good for promotion or just to keep his job. Purely hypothesis and speculation... but yes.
  8. From reading the lawsuit, it could be localized.... perhaps one bad apple in the form of a regional manager.
  9. Yet this is only 4x4, not AWD like the Skyhawk. So that is one difference or am I missing something else that is a major difference? Are you having a stroke? Sniffing too much CNG? LOL this is the second funny typo you've made. Skyhawk is a Buick. Trailhawk is a Jeep. The Trailhawk is a 4x4 system is the same as the Limited's and Overland's with Active-Drive II, it just has a locking rear differential. Jeep outlines the differences of all of their 4x4 systems on a single page.
  10. I think there is a hit to capability if they do AWD instead of 4x4. There is also a hit on fuel economy when running AWD all the time, disconnect the drive from the front wheels and get a MPG boost. People in southern states don't need 4x4 like us northerners do, so no point in forcing it on them at additional cost.
  11. Okay, I thought when I was reading one of the new Canyon reviews in the past few weeks that I read something like "active all wheel drive" or "full time all wheel drive" in one of the reviews but I couldn't find it later when I had time. I was confused. I thought it was 2WD or 4WD not an AWD-anything. Anyway anybody could confirm yes or no to this? The Canyon is not AWD, it is 2WD or 4WD like most trucks. There is no difference in the Denali. The Denali trucks and full-size SUVs, and Escalade used to come with active full-time AWD, but they are now 2wd/4wd.
  12. C1XX is the official designation, I don't know if they are calling it Lambda II or not.
  13. This was a person that either could not afford it or was never going to buy the old Acadia anyway. No matter if it stayed the same size or shrunk. Plenty of people wanted the Acadia but never really bought it and when it came time they went with the compact version in this case a Traverse LT. Big difference in price between the Traverse and an Acadia. Time will tell if GM messed up, but my gut tells me no. The people crying over this are the same type of people crying about the lack of 2 door coupes and convertibles in the cheap entry level market but would really never buy them anyway. There is no difference in size between a Traverse and Acadia they are identical.... I think you mean Terrain? The Enclave and Traverse are getting the long wheelbase version of this.
  14. Just stop.. really... the Terrain is being downsized to CRV level. The Enclave and Traverse are still there in the GM porfolio. You can't say that the Acadia was one of the few true 8 passenger vehicles on the market when GM builds 2 other models the same way. The transmissions are the same, the V6 engine is an update of the current model and doesn't come with start/stop, the 4-cylinder will be where the fuel economy gains are.... and the Lambdas struggle to get close to their EPA ratings in the real world. With 700 lbs of weight loss, they should do better than the current models once people get their hands on them. If the Acadia's size bothers you that much, GM will invite you to look at the Enclave or Traverse.
  15. There is nothing about the Continental chassis that Audi isn't doing in some form or another. But they have the longitudinal engine, 8-speed automatic (even though they bought it from ZF rather than make their own), and their C/D segment platforms are a bit more capable than the VW and A4 level stuff. But the A6 and A8 aren't really lighting up the sales chart anyway. The BMW and Mercedes sedans eat up the A6 and A8, and I think in part due to the rwd chassis, 50/50 weight balance, excessive nurburgringing, etc. I find the big Audi sedans to be rather dull and lacking in gravitas... neither of which are the case for the Continental. All-wheel drive systems these days are so advanced that it no longer matters which way the engine is facing. Even my little Encore can send 50% of the torque to the rear wheels when needed.... and I was playing in a snow covered parking lot in Detroit just to try it, I can actually kick the rear end out. I know the XTS can do something like 90% to the rear wheels, so i fully expect the advanced Continental AWD to do the same. I could very well be wrong but can't the new trick system in the RS send up to 100% to an individual wheel? I don't remember for sure and I haven't had my tea yet... but I believe you are right. If not to an individual wheel, at least 100% to the rear wheels.

  17. I'd like to say thank you for running the site. I think this is the best auto discussion forum on the internet. I like Autoblog and Worldcarfans for news, but the comments sections on some of those sites are weak. This site is much more well rounded and covers topics on every brand too, and the auto show coverage and sales ticker numbers are always good. I visit this site multiple times daily, I enjoy discussion, I don't mind some cheerleading, it shows passion for your favorite brand, but we don't need any attacking or trolling. Thank you. I do this because I enjoy it... and like you I enjoy the discussion and camaraderie we generally have around here. I've met a number of our regular members over the years. Everyone has their pet brand and that is fine and encouraged.... but don't try raise up your* own brand by putting down others... particularly if the put-down is based on false premises. *the general "your"
  18. Posting a preference for or against a particular product is fine. You werent being called a cheerleader for noting the Continental traffic ( which I agree was significant), you were called a cheerleader for incorrectly ascribing a cause to the difference between CT6 traffic and Continental traffic. It was bias for Continental because of your made up rationale and I called you on it. Called me on it? BS. You gave me your opinion on it, which I disagreed with. And thus far all the news I am hearing is still focused on the Conti first, and I expect that to continue....even though few at Detroit have seen the CT6. My point again, it does not stand out like the Conti. If I agreed with your opinion, then we'd both be wrong! By your theory, the Pacifica is even more interesting to people than Continental. Chrysler had guards up there kicking everyone but media out. During Monday and Tuesday, most of the people in the Cobo are media or industry.. People who have been to one of the many many displays of the CT6 from the previous 10 months. The CT6 is not new to them, the Continental was less than 6 hours old at that point. When I was there late Tuesday, it was mostly employees and suppliers left at the show and most of which have not seen either product yet, even though the CT6 was revealed prior. That is what I saw and commented on. Anyway, our opinions and your insult aside, what I took issue with recently is that casa gets away with what he got away with. You have deleted my posts for far less. So now I am thinking about going into a few GM autoshow reveal threads, sharing my 'opinion' and flooding them with pics of Ford or Lincoln equivalent products. Let's see you give that an OK. I don't know where you got this impression you seem to have that this is my first time at the rodeo. This site is going to be celebrating its 15th birthday this summer which will be its 9th year under my ownership and 14th with me as a member. I've been running forums in some form or another for over 20 years, going back to the BBS days. You aren't even close to being the first person to threaten to troll my forums.... heck that isn't even your first threat to me. I promise you, I can handle you and I can do a lot worse than ban you if I have to. I've been to each of the Detroit, NYC, and Chicago auto shows every year for the past 8 years as a media member and LA auto show the past 2 years. William has been attending the shows with me for a number of years as well. We have it down to a very efficient science for a 2 man operation. We know how these shows work. So go ahead, try to 'splain how the shows work, I'm here eagerly waiting to take notes from you.
  19. Kind of... on the Grand Cherokee though there are additional off-road capabilities added. On this one, it gets a tiny (and I mean really tiny) increase in ride height. So it's not quite a luxury package then? On the Grand Cherokee it is. On this, well... that's less clear. I would imagine when the new Jeep 3-row crossover comes it will have a lux package on it and be called Overland.
