Fantastic month for FCA. Promaster doing okay, but not like the transit. Still lags behind even the older GM vans. Jeep is now the crown jewel in the FCA lineup. Dodge doing pretty good, but they really need a mid-size to replace that Avenger. Chrysler brand alone is within firing range of exceeding the entire VW brand sales.

It's mind boggling that the Lambda's 7 years in and surpassed by the competition in multiple ways, continue to sell in such fantastic numbers. With the Enclave having an average transaction price north of $50k, they's sold 2.5 billion dollars worth of revenue in Buick Enclaves this year. I don't blame GM for not replacing them now if they can get that kinda money for a 7 year old vehicle with a light refresh. I see they are clearing out the leftover Malibus post haste.... that's probably the "strong increase in rental demand" I cannot explain SRX unless the refreshed interior is really winning people over, but oh well, Cadillac needs those sales. CTS doesn't deserve this. I also don't understand the Theta CUV sales, unless that is also rental fleets.... but they're saying retail sales are up... so.. what do I know? Truck incentives down, but truck sales up, good place to be. You can see the Buick lineup aging out right before your eyes. -

Less compete and more overlap. I think the Continental will be more the luxury cruiser than the CT6's autobahn bruiser. That isn't a judgement of which is good or bad... I tend to prefer the luxury cruisers myself.

I really don't find any of the brands to be "the enemy". At worst, there are brands that just bore me... I don't have the energy to work up the passion to consider a boring brand "the enemy". So here are the most interesting cars from brands on my boring brand list. BMW 7-series - In a brand completely bereft of original styling or modern design and resting on a reputation it no longer deserves, I gravitate to the top of the range. If one must drive a car from this boring brand, it might as well be the best one they offer. Honda Accord Hybrid - I like the technical wizardry in the powertrain. Kia K900 - It's big, it's fluffy, and it's sufficiently fast. Hyundai Genesis - Ditto K900 Mini-Cooper - Do I have to? It's not even a real car. They turn into complete rattle traps after 30k miles. I don't understand why other people even like them.

Yeah, but the Equus is a heavy and flabby (read: flexy) chassis with no handling prowess. Clearly I haven't driven a CT6 yet, but handling isn't one of those areas GM generally falls down on lately, especially at Cadillac... and with such a lightweight chassis + Magnetic Ride Control + 4-wheel steering, I think the handling on this thing is going to be phenomenal. -
Well the 2.0T is a necessity because of displacement taxes in China. They have to offer a 2.0T there. They actually offer an XTS 2.0T in China as well, that one isn't sold here obviously, though I'm not sure where it is built.

Well, as I mentioned in other threads, the 4-cylinder was designed for the China market. They're building them in Michigan so if it already will meet all federal regs, what's the harm of letting a few 4-cylinders wander off to US dealers also? Cadillac expects the bulk of the sales to be the V6 model and V6TT model coming in second. If they don't get enough sales of the 4-cylinder, they can cancel it in the US and just send them to China.

Because it is unlikely to be the only car on this platform. There is still the CT8 which we know about, and that leaves a CT7 for us to wonder about. And then there is also Buick with the strong desire to create an Avenir level product and a Riviera level product. Edit: Can you imagine.... shortening this down a bit to make a Buick Riviera Grand Touring Coupe? Long flowing sexy lines without the hard nose aggression of the Germans or Cadillac. Soft and swoopy with a hint of the boat tail...it'd weigh in around 3500lbs in base Turbo-4 RWD form and it could be optioned up into the low $60s with a detuned 3.0TT..... </imagining>

Erm, I don't think either of them are the base wheels, both of those look bigger than 18s to me. I took those pictures at the reveal event in NY last spring.... I doubt they put 18s on the show cars. Per Cadillac friend - 18s are standard, 19s and 20s are available a la carte or with other packages. -

Sure... you don't get the tech of a 7-series... why would you want something that behind the times? If the 7-series had an LCD rear view mirror, 360 camera with record function (for accident and security purposes), the coming super cruise, if it had 4-wheel steering, or magnetic ride control, or the lightest chassis for its size... then maybe the 7-series would be right up there with Cadillac on the tech level.... but hey, if all it takes is a Samsung 7 Inch tablet for the back seat to entertain you, I'm sure the Cadillac dealer would make a special trip to Costco to pick one up for you.

As always with you, one spec is the only important feature until something else is the only important feature. The CT6 is lighter than a 5-series or CTS and has 4-wheel steering. And yes, the CT6 has a nicer interior than the CTS.

XTS will stick around for a little while longer as it is one of the first existing products to get Super Cruise (along with CTS) The E-Class will be much smaller on the inside than the CT6.

From my friend at Cadillac, when I was at the CT6 reveal event in NY last year: Me: So what cars are the primary targets for the CT6 to compete with? Him: You tell me, what car do you think it competes with? Me: Well, are you aiming for the S-Class? Him: No, people who want the biggest, heaviest, isolation tank are just going to go buy an S-Class anyway. This car is for people who actually enjoy driving, want the luxury, and want the space. Reflecting on that conversation: It sounds like the CT6 is aiming more at being a 6-series 4-door with actual space, or a CLS400 with actual space, or an A7 with actual space. Or a Lexus LS that can handle like a GS.

Cadillac is creating their own niche with this car. Yes it is the top sedan in the range, but this is not their S-Class fighter (still, *sigh*, I know) This is a 7-series sized car that will handle and perform like a 5-series (or better)
