    I was considering the recent MCEs... they really aren't trivial. The interiors are pretty much all new, the exteriors are all new, Regal gained AWD, dropped the base 2.4 and gained the 2.0T as the standard engine.

    If you think about it, the oldest Epsilon II car out there is now the XTS.

    In 2018? I think not. We've already seen the last new Epsilon II cars I think (the Impala and refreshed Buicks).

    Wonder what platform... but as a 2018 model, it may be one that isn't even in existence yet. But still, why wouldn't they use Alpha?

    But is it good enough to be in a Mercedes or BMW? GM often does this "good enough" thinking or cuts corners because they think it is acceptable. But being better than previous Cadillacs isn't the goal, being better than Mercedes and BMW is the goal. I agree with Dwight, 2 versions of the 2.0T would make sense, that is what BMW is doing with the 3-series. Plus the 3-series has a diesel that if a buyer is looking for MPG as a top priority, the ATS is in trouble as the 328d and 2015 C250 Bluetec get 45 mpg. So perhaps 2.0 diesel is in order more so than two versions of a gas turbo four. Well, it is ... about the same as the Nissan Altima 2.5. Is that good enough to be in a Cadiilac? You decide. There's no way the GM 2.5 and Nissan 2.5 are the same NVH!

    Similar conclusion to my review of the 2012 Nissan Maxima - a fine car that is just slightly out of date and a tad expensive for what you get.

    I really wonder about this... I've had the 2.5 in a Malibu and it was fine from a NVH perspective. All of the turbo-4s fielded by this ATS's direct competition I would describe a "gruff"

    Well yea, the replacement for the avenger has to be a Grand Cherokee level of good.

    The 200 shouldn't be a sales leader. I'm guessing (and hoping) that Chrysler is not aiming for Camry or even Fusion like sales volumes for this car... that is Dodge's job. Let it be the smaller, posher, mid-size car that sells on content rather than cheap subsidized leasing. They'll sell fewer of them, but at a higher transaction price and a higher margin.

    The Verano and lower end Regal (maybe even higher end Regal) are going to be the natural competition for this car. I see people online comparing it to the Fusion... but I get the impression that this is a smaller vehicle.... not Fusion sized. Chrysler may be taking a "content over size" tack with this car. It doesn't need to be the largest in the segment, but it needs to be posher inside than a normal mid-size.

    I figured out my mistake. Vauxhall builds LHD Opels for export to Australia and New Zealand.

    Chrysler often gives 2 screen size options. This could be the smaller one. I have to say, I like the look. It moves the car up a lot in the looks department and it's finally not a gaping mouth design.

    Then Vauxhall should go too. They already sell Opel in the UK, no need for both.

    My guess is that it has more to do with production capacity rather than anything else. GM thought they would be pushing a lot of existing buyers to the 285 hp 4.3 liter instead of them all opting for V8s like they have been... and they're betting that soon... any day now... customers will wake up and see the light and buy the V6. .... any day now... edit - It probably also lets them claim that they have a mid-size truck with over 300 horsepower.

    GM is in line to sweep both categories.

    Interesting take. I would say that the CT200H already competes in this space and was actually there before Mercedes was. I doubt most CLAs sell exactly at base price and typically have at least $2k worth of options.

    There was a mis-configuration with the Holden forum where news articles from the front page weren't getting posted. I fixed it the other day, so now all the old articles got dumped into the Holden forum all at once. This was from April 9th
