  1. Good name! This reminds me to get my Promaster preview done.
  2. It still amazes me that I can get around town at all with a 0-60 nearly double that of the Corolla. But like most people, I don't do full throttle acceleration after every stop sign, stop light, or yield. I expect that most people buying a plug-in EV aren't either.
  3. The Verano Turbo does have suspension re-working. It wouldn't take much more to make it into a GS. We've already been told flat out that there will not be an AWD Verano due to the rear suspension setup.
  4. Acura's biggest problem is Benz.. not Buick.. not Lexus. Why would you buy an ILX when for just a little more money or pretty much the same lease payment you could get a CLA? I can pick up an RDX for $399 a month or a GLX for $399 a month.... and that's way before we get to RLX v. E-Class comparisons. Forget all of SMK's unimportant numbers/fetures that he likes to get stuck on and think of it from a badge snob's perspective. The CLA doesn't even have to be a good, much less great, car to beat Acura in this segment. It simply has to start reliably for the first 36 months of ownership till the lease is up. Acura is peddling mildly re-worked Civics and CR-Vs with broughmy leather. Even the Cadillacs that SMK likes to knock on (SRX and XTS) feel like Cadillacs when you sit in them and drive them. People don't sit in an XTS and say "this feels like an Impala" The ILX and RDX feel like Hondas. Acura simply cannot compete with Benz or Cadillac or Lexus in this area for that reason alone. Horsepower doesn't matter, quality barely matters, FWD/RWD/AWD doesn't matter....
  5. The GTR is already at $106k and the new track versions will probably be pushing the price up some.
  6. If one is spending $119k base on a car like this, they can afford 91 octane. But at the same time, I think Chevy could (and should) charge more if there is room for it.
  7. First step is admitting you have a problem.
  8. I like it.
  9. Happy Birthday Rivman!
  10. Great ideas Dwight, some probably a bit too expensive for Verano, but Regal or Lacrosse maybe. Still, a bump in power output that we already know the 2.0T is capable of wouldn't hurt either.
  11. It was actually a standard RWD transmission (A THM400 in fact) turned 180 degrees and chopped off just aft of the torque converter. The torque converter stays with the engine and drives the transmission via a nylon cog/steel chain setup that requires no idler pulley. The FWD version, called THM425, shared lots of internal components with its RWD brother.
  12. 290 would be no problem
  13. the Verano Turbo is already pretty close to GS material. Some upmarket seats, suspension control, and maybe a bit more boost would be all it really needs.
  14. Spotted this in the neighborhood we were staying in for the holiday.
  15. On Craigslist no less? Didn't they try to sell this on Ebay a couple years ago?
  16. I love the CTS coupe, so I'm really hoping for something close to that in look, yet with up-to-date Cadillac looks.
  17. The later Pentastar powered GCs do pretty good on Mpgs. I was getting 25 zipping around Texas in a rwd one.
  18. SMK, remember, Genesis is its own brand in Korea, that's why they wouldn't use the same styling cues.
  19. I don't really consider the Corvette to be a muscle car either. The Challenger/Charger/300C SRTs are muscle cars. Arguably, the Taurus SHO, Chevy SS, and CTS-V are muscle cars. .... but 2 seat GT roadsters have never really held the term "muscle car"
  20. These aren't really muscle cars though are they?
  21. sure it has the powertrain, but it already feels a decade old
  22. November 26th, 2013 Drew Dowdell Managing Editor - CheersandGears.com It is a couple of days before the Thanksgiving holiday here in the U.S. and most of the northern and eastern parts of the country are bracing for a major snow storm to hit. In spite of the pending holiday and the forecast of 4" of snow in Pittsburgh, it is still a work day for Hyundai engineers. A reader spotted this 2015 Hyundai Genesis stopping for a lunch break in downtown Pittsburgh on the same day Hyundai unveiled the details and pictures for the Korean marketplace. Based on the Hyundai HCD-14 Concept we saw in January at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, Hyundai is wasting no time bringing this to market. Click image to enlarge While the Korean market Genesis offers a selection of 4 engines, buyers in the US will likely continue to choose between mildly revised versions of the familiar 3.8 litre V6 and the 5.0 litre V8. Both engines are mated to 8-speed automatic transmissions pushing power to the rear wheels or through a new all-wheel-drive system Hyundai has dubbed HTrac. As one expects with the redesign of a high end luxury sedan, the Korean market Genesis comes with a host of new safety features and technology including: higher use of high-strength steel, emergency steering support, blind spot detection, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic alert, haptic steering warning system, and parking assist. We can expect most, if not all of those features to make it to the U.S. market model. The American debut will likely be in January at the Detroit Auto Show. In the meantime Hyundai Engineers, have a Happy Thanksgiving playing in the snow! Hyundai's press release for the Korean market Genesis can be viewed here. Hat Tip to Eric View full article
