  1. I know, but we're talking US market here. There are no Pontiacs for sale in the Middle East, so there's no confusion between Chevy and Pontiac styling. In the US there would be confusion as the front end is the same as the G8.
  2. Wasn't that sentence in the 'Highlander'movie? *sings*KUMBAYYYYAAAAAA Pontiac, KUMBAYYYYAAAAAA !!!
  3. There's more than a way to get rid of a brand... Letting it die a slow and painful death is probably cheaper than announcing a shutdown of the brand.

    Bulge!

Don't know why, but I loved the fuel pump pictures!
  5. solution 'Suicide Solution' = Ozzy Osbourne song
  6. My :twocents: It is a Commodore Ute, which means that in the US it should be marketed as part of BPG (because of the G8): GMC is a natural choice for that, as Pontiac and Ute don't seem to go well together. The only way I'd see a Chevrolet badge would be if the front end got a complete restyling, which would probably be too expensive in light of a low US sales target.
  7. I hope Ford doesn't tone it down too much.
  8. I actually like how this thing looks! The 1970's gauge cluster should go away, though... EDIT - Won't this be a little porky for the VW 2.0L turbodiesel?
  9. You seem to be in full tick-tock mode, PCS As much as I love all of GM's brands, I can see this Chevrolet-OtherDivision-Cadillac as GM's business model, with OtherDivision being any of the brands in the current portfolio: Buick for China, Holden for Australia, and so on... Maybe markets such as Europe/US/China you can have two or three badges that fall into the OtherDivision bracket, with extremely focused product and marketing... There would still be tricky issues though: my beloved Saab has a small, but global presence, and I think it would be be a very, very interesting global brand between a globalized Chevy and a globalized Cadillac, but I don't know what will happen to it. Maybe Saab is part of the "tick-tock group" as well, as I don't see GM selling it to other manufacturers and the Wallenberg family is apparently not interested in buying it back...
  10. But wouldn't they still sink the company? Literally?

  12. aha, back in Cali!response to thread: application
  13. I voted 'Other'. The weather I experience in Sweden is what I like: around 20 degrees Celsius and some wind.
  14. The STS looks pretty irrelevant to me as well now that the '08 CTS is here, unless one has an urge for a non-V-Series V8 engine. And that can be taken care of easily if either the Northstar or the NG V8 engine can fit the engine bay.I agree that completing the CTS range should be the priority while the NG DTS/STS is being worked on.
  15. That applies to almost every GM model, from the Aveo to the STS... I have confidence GM can deliver the goods, but it will take time, commitment and loads of investment in product to get there. Management-wise it's quite an interesting challenge!
  16. The C7 can still be be mid-engined and have the engine in front of the passenger compartment. Maybe the rumor of a mid-engine Corvette is 'Mercedes SLR' instead of 'Ferrari F430'.
  17. Because they don't have enough money. They have to pay health care, pensions, and restrucutring costs, and their auto operations (think NA here) are not where they should be in terms of generating money. Also, remember the old 'not putting all eggs in one basket' expression. If GM invested all of its R&D in one concept/idea only, then they would deserve to go out of business.Re the article: 60K in the first year? I can easily build a business case for a $500,000 Cadillac. I'll just budget enough sales to make it feasible on paper
  18. ranch
  19. Ahhh.... pictures.... My mobile started acting up this morning and all my Göteborg and Saab Car Museum (in Trollhättan) pictures are gone... my first reaction was but then I went online to get a few pictures of beautiful Domkyrkan church to use as my avatar on MSN Messenger. [\finish venting] EDIT - those Skodas look awful!
  20. :rotflmao: that's genius!
  21. One must be careful these days
  22. Do shorts count? They're similar to pants after all
  23. I'm picking up this vibe GM will ask (politely, of course) that these pictures be removed
  24. Well, Chevrolet already builds something that offers value and still is a great car. It's called the Corvette. Cost issues aside, why not extend that philosophy to all Chevrolet models and get rid of all the overlap in the middle of the market once and for all?
