    Death of the V8?

Evok's "death of the V8" remark was more of a "death of the V8 as a mainstream engine" remark. I'd like to see a discussion on his premise of the V8 becoming what it is today in Europe (a top-of-the-line engine) and not a discussion on his ability to choose an article title that pleases everyone.

  9. One time I landed at Newark the guy next to me was almost crapping himself as we encountered some turbulence on the beginning of the descent. I turned to him very calmly, smiled, and said 'don't worry! we won't fall past the ground'. He was silent for the rest of the flight and didn't even wish me a good flight to Florida...

  11. Mine are still a month and a half away. I only have 2 subjects left to finish the curricular part of my Masters: school year 2007-2008 will be devoted to the Final Paper that has to be turned no later than June 30th, 2008.Do you have any sort of Final Paper/Assignment/Thesis, besides you final exams? The same thing is happening to me (studentslivet är hårt! = a student's life is hard! = a vida de um estudante é dura!). Now that I have had a couple of classes of each subject in Trimester 3, I am speeding up my studying so I see myself working weekends and late every day again. It's for a good cause, so... :AH-HA_wink: My exam load isn't that big, but the pressure from work is mounting: I have had some more complex assignments, my boss wants knows that the day I have my Masters I'll be heading out of here, so I am feeling pressured. I am coping with it surprisingly well, though! Feeling like a little kid again since going back to school helps a lot! I had almost forgotten about why I should make an effort in every aspect of my life (there were very rough times in my personal life that have only started getting better last October), but going back to school has brought back the Fire! My main coping strategy is doing 6Km brisk walks each weekend. Also, I'll start heading ot the beach next weekend: good weather is here to stay, it seems Best of luck with the finals, Bob!

  13. Small number, but significant for being positive. Also, GM's CFO conference call quote at the bottom left of the page is significant as to where GM is aiming for, with the contract talks coming up: "We're basically operating the [North American] business at around break-even, certainly in the first quarter. That's not our goal, obviously." -- GM CFO Fritz Henderson

  15. I'm on a different Continent, so I couldn't really consider any of the Lambdas... I have to say that I like what I've seen so far (in pics) of the 3 Lambda vehicles and if (a) the equipment fits your needs and wants perfectly and (b) you can go past the MSRP only thing, then go for it. Also, considering how much $$$ you might save on fuel might be important: A Suburban isn't exactly the most fuel efficient of vehicles.
  16. My thoughts exactly! But it does look good with that Acadia grille, doesn't it?

  21. Maybe. What I don't get is why we never heard anything about GM developing a modular RWD/AWD platform like Audi's new platform (I know the Audi is FWD/AWD, but it has longitudinally mounted engines like RWD cars). The Audi platform will underpin everythin from the A4 to the A8, and the idea might be attratcive from a cost of development and component sharing perspective...
