    Toyota

Watching them crash and burn is one thing, but realizing the scope of their alleged cover-up makes me feel for the families whom have lost a loved one because Toyota may have been scared of losing their shirt after 2008.
  2. The intention of your comment was so juvenile, I gave you one point.
  3. Really, if this same image were of someone significantly less attractive by society's standard, would this even be an issue?

    cliffside!!!

Heh, sorry, thought this one was known more. Waste from local landfills and wash-up from the ocean has contained plastic bags (mostly grocery and garbage bags) which drifts down streams into communities in India and African nations. Cattle simply grazing along the water line end up consuming the plastic. It has led to choking and intestinal blockage which ends up being fatal. Anyhow, even if plastic bags I receive don't likely end up in the throat of a bull somewhere out east, I certainly understand the benefits of them disappearing altogether and choose not to receive them with my purchases.

    cliffside!!!

I would sum it all up by saying if what humans have contributed to climate change is cause for concern, it should be recognized that it is not entirely irreversible; however, why do people consider acting now for the sake of the future such a terrible thing when throughout history humanity always acts too late? The benefits in the development of technology to combat climate change reach far beyond their intended purpose. Automobiles derive significantly more power with less fuel. The power of wind is being harnessed more than ever for highly efficient electricity. People are recognizing the major benefits of reduced waste and identifying hazardous products before casting them into landfills which are now better-utilizing methane gases formerly cast into the atmosphere. Quite frankly, I've observed that most arguments against climate change tend to have motivation behind them based purely on the perceived inconvenience it causes. Since trash was brought up, when a community in a third-world nation that highly depends upon cattle for their survival ends up losing cattle due to choking on a plastic garbage bag dumped into the ocean by a neighboring well-to-do nation, and that nation chooses to ban plastic garbage bags altogether, which side is most inconvenienced depending upon whether that ban goes through or not?
  6. Plastic-on-plastic is certainly not an uncommon design characteristic by any means.
  7. It would surprise me more if it weren't a manual. Regardless, it seems more than reasonable that her other foot hit the gas like she was stomping grapes.
  8. My first inclination is to assume that she forgot a few steps when she chose to exit the car, then stepped on the gas for leverage to get her butt out of the driver's seat before rocketing off when she took her foot off the clutch. This just doesn't speak to me as though it has anything to do with Toyota's unintended acceleration issue. I mean, who the hell has their car running in gear when they open their door?
  9. Toxic at that. New car smell gives me a headache. I prefer the smell of a freshly vacuumed 2 year old car.
  10. That's just pathetic. It also may not be entirely accurate across the board of all dealerships; however, based on all the reading I've done, more time has been spent on reporting the news of the blame-game than what Toyota has been announcing and implementing to rectify the situation. I'm just glad I have a nice, simple cable between my foot and the throttle-body.
  11. It has nothing to do with the accents for me. It has more to do with the amateurish style of the advertisement. Typically, endorsements sound like a natural thought coming from a prominent figure. These guys all sound like a first-grader reading from a chalk board. Bad writing and bad acting. I can't believe anyone even paid someone to put this together.
  12. The type of thinking against words in dictionaries makes me believe that the dark corners are full of people closing their eyes and plugging their ears to the every day world, living in the stone-ages of society. Kids won't be hearing the phrase, 'oral sex' on the playground. They'll be hearing, 'blow job', or 'doggie-style'; the kind of phrases that aren't found in a dictionary. Maybe if parents would focus their efforts on teaching safe-sex, things like what they find in the dictionary would be helpful to educate them. Stupid parents. While I'm glad the books have been re-shelved, there is little doubt that 'the good fight' will not end.
  13. Not just that. There is a complete lack of sensationalizing the story while sticking to the facts and examples. Imagine if FOX did this story...
  14. Heh, thanks. 7 months now. I think he has more hair than I do!
  15. The only thing missing was Forrest Gump. Anyway, my son has something to add:
  16. If the info is correct, the major shortcoming that Apple will have to address for the next iPad or software is to enable multi-tasking capability (iPad can only have one application open at a time). Maybe this was designed this way in order to require a iPod/Phone/Touch to listen to music while puttering around the net.
  17. It is interesting how these so-called analysts paint a picture that resembles something like a fight for the canvas between Warhol and Picasso. In the end, when if comes to facts, nobody knows what they're trying to tell us. On one side are the comments about how damaging this issue will be for Toyota's quality and safety reputation. We know that Toyota was essentially forced into halting production and issuing such a massive recall. That didn't seem to phase this guy from reporting his own truth: I really find it quite amazing how these analysts view this issue. It's like Toyota messed up and soured their latest batch of Kool-aid, so the analysts jump in to provide the sweetener. It's tough to imagine these guys would be commenting on the 'silver lining' if it were any other automobile manufacturer. Quote Source
  18. This recent recall was being identified by the media as "unrelated" to the most mat and pedal issues.
  19. 1. Both (but usually 12 oz. of regular at wakeup and decaf when ever I might have another through the day) 2. Medium roast most times. Sometimes we indulge in a chocolate-raspberry flavored grind that makes you want to orgasm. 3. Most times, one a day. Maybe three 12 oz. mugs total once a week, or so. 4. Never black - my bitter taste sense is quite sensitive. 5. No. 6. Usually flavored creamer (Irish Cream, French Vanilla, Caramel Vanilla, Southern Butter Pecan, a few others... or just Baileys when I'm relaxing at home. 7. One teaspoon to tablespoon - depending upon grind and what flavored creamer I'm interested in since some taste a lot sweeter than others. If we buy a cup from Starbucks or Tim Hortons, it's usually something extravagant for taste. I always request only half-shot sweeteners because their fully-sweetened crap nearly makes me gag (literally).
  20. How interesting that Pat Robertson, a devout Christian, would be so critical of such an event. I wonder what his impressions would be of the group of Canadian teens and chaperones who went to Haiti to assist with humanitarian efforts just before the earthquake? They are from a local Christian group. Thankfully, the update is that they have finally been retrieved and delivered to the airport and awaiting the next Canadian transport back to Montreal. News Coverage
  21. If that isn't a great motivator, I don't know what is!
  22. If that isn't bad enough, news reports reveal that the typical e-mail and web donation scam sites surfaced merely a day after the initial earthquake. People, and Pat Robertson, are scum.
  23. Reading further on BBC, you start to get a sense of the damage and lack of resources: Additional information in point form: - The Haitian Government requested a suspension of civilian flights in and out of Haiti due to lack of space for planes on the ground and a lack of fuel to enable them to leave - Desperate for heavy lifting equipment, many survivors still trapped under rubble are losing their lives because ground crews are unable to reach them by hand - Images of the simple shanty villages reveals a landscape that looks more like a typical landfill of construction debris with very few people able to sort through the rubble to find survivors - Unlike a hurricane, this quake has left an already unstable water supply completely non-existent - Facilities, such as morgues, are gathering bodies in the thousands with there being no current plan available for burial (estimates are broad with current death rates numbering between 30,000 to 50,000 and rising - Disaster leadership is minimal as an already fragile government body is unable to direct its small amount of resources ... reading on of the desperation was heart-wrenching.
  24. This hit closer to home here as the boyfriend of my niece was en-route to Haiti with a small group conducting a mission service. Their plane touched down in a version of hell and they had no way to contact Canadian authorities or family. All anyone could do was watch, wait and hope for good news. Thankfully, everything for them is okay as they will now be conducting relief efforts. Depending upon how you look at it, considering their reason for going in the first place, they were either in the wrong place at the wrong time; or the right place at the right time.
