  1. Very promising pics. I think the production version will be a real stunner.
  2. Yep. The only thing I don't like about the Flex is that it sits so low to the ground, reminding of you of it's minivan roots. The Lambdas have a taller, more conventional SUV stance, though still clearly being a crossover.
  3. It's a beautiful car. I'd love to have it here. my only concern though, would be that it's design and styling a still somewhat related to the G8, with which it'd share showroom space. It could possibly hurt sales, if comparisons are closely drawn, IMO. Ofcourse, in China, this car is alone, and therefore totally unique. That said, I'd have absolutely no problems driving this Park Avenue. And I love that they brought back this name. It's fitting for a flagship. The pics of it are awesome. I especially like it in black in the first pic of the gallery, and the wheels are SICK. The interior is where this car truly stands out, and it's amazing to see what Buick is capable of. This car needs to come here. With an interior like that, this car could truly claim to be a value alternative to the LS460, without sacrificing luxury, quiet ride, or performance.
  4. (sigh), I'm not really impressed with these cars. I keep telling myself these are just stop gaps until the "real" Buicks debut. My hope is that they refine the grills on the next gen cars; the Lucerne's seem very pointy, and the LaX's is to big. The Enclave's fit it perfectly. I don't like that the Lucerne's V8 makes less, etc. etc. Honestly, I'm not really disappointed. I'll only be disappointed if a these issuses I have aren't corrected with the next gen vehicles...
  5. You make it sound like VW and Caddy's brands are equal. VW was NEVER a luxury brand, and theycome out of the blue with a $70K fullsize flagship. That should have never happened, and VW should not have tried to elevate the brand. That's what Audi was for. CADDY IS THE LUXURY BRAND FOR GM. It will never be the "Standard of the World" if it doesn't have a full size flagship every bit (if not better) than the S-Class and 7-Series. Period. Entering this segment isn't one to many; it's necessary for this luxury brand. Don't question whether Caddy should make the car... it's needed. Just hope they get it right (like the CTS).
  6. Precisely. Whether the car is called STS or DTS, a replacement is needed to fill the segment between the CTS and the FLS. A car that replaces the current DTS (in spirit) is not needed. FWD, floating, isolated Caddy's need to go away after this DTS.
  7. It's goregous. I thought it was Epsilon based, and basically a cousin to the G6 coupe. But if it's RWD, I guess it's based on the shortened Zeta platform that the next Camaro's riding on... very cool. Can't help but wonder though, such a wonderful and diverse platform could probably house a Velite.
  8. Buick should use two engines in it's cars; the 3.6L DOHC V6, and a slightly detuned version (of whatever Caddy's output would be) of the new V8 being developed. I then that an turbo engine option should be given for the entire lineup... that would be very cool.
  9. A base of 45K and loaded at 60K isn't enough for what the article's implying. We're talking about an S-Class/7-Series rival. That means having an interior, powertrain, and tech to atleast match them on all fronts. As I said before, this needs to be a no excuses luxury sedan. A car such as this would cost atleast as much as the LS460, and that car starts north of $60K. Let the next gen STS play it's position as a 5-Series/E-Class compeititor and fill the aforementioned price range.
  10. Replacing the FWD DTS with a a "long, long, long" RWD Zeta based DTS is a great idea. With the proper content, materials, and equipment, it can easily be a true flagship and S/7 competitor. An eight cylinder engine with around 400HP, and a possible optional engine will all help to establish Caddy as a serious player in that segment this time around. Ofcourse, this is the brand's pinnacle of lux, so it has to be no excuses lux and excess, as in it's competitors.
  11. It's a beautiful, seductive coupe. Very nice.
  12. Okay... I'm very disappointed by this news. This is a poor move. First off, a three sedan lineup is not oversaturation for Buick. Even with the B-P-G network, which was a HUGE mistake, IMO. GM let Buick languish to where it was a move that looked good, but Buick should have never been allowed to wither on the vine. It should have three sedans, a coupe, and two f@#kin' SUVs. (sigh) Anyway, given that sadly shruken status of a once proud and coveted marque, it can still flourish. But it won't with these stupid ass decisions. The Statesman should replace the Lucerne. In my perfect world, Buick would have a Commodore variant also, positioned between the next gen Lacrosse (EPII) and the Lucerne (Statesman). Sure, Pontiac's G8 is essentially a reskin, and that's fine, because it's a great looking car. Any other brand to get one based off of the platform though (Chevy's Impala, etc.) should look completely different, both in and out. It's worth the extra dollars to make the car look completely different, as opposed to a new front and rear end grafted onto the same car. I'm sick of going to other forums and reading that Buick should go the way of Olds. However, this is the straw that breaks the back for me. This is a damn shame.
  13. I think the blog was true. Here's an article from autoweek. No RWD for Buick? Dealers fear such a vehicle would steal from Lucerne By RICK KRANZ | AUTOMOTIVE NEWS AutoWeek | Updated: 02/20/07, 10:45 am et CHICAGO - While Chevrolet and Pontiac will offer rear-drive cars, the Buick dealer council basically said, "Thanks - but no, thanks." But GM Vice Chairman Bob Lutz has left the door open if the group wants to reconsider. Lutz said U.S. dealers were offered a Buick based on the long-wheelbase Holden Statesman that will be sold in China next year. "It was firmly in the U.S. product program" until the car was shown to Buick dealers, Lutz said. The issue? Both the front-drive Lucerne sedan and the rwd Buick sedan are about the same size, and both offer V-6 and V-8 engines. The dealers thought the rwd car would cannibalize Lucerne sales, Lutz said. "They were worried that it wasn't going to be 'plus' business, and we had to worry about the substitution rate," he said. "So for excellent business reasons, we elected not to do it." But Lutz quickly added that "the future is open on that." With a Buick already being built for China, he said, "Once that vehicle exists, it would be a little hard to see why you wouldn't use it for the whole market." http://www.autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/arti...E/70220007/1528
  14. Funny. I thought the same thing... :AH-HA_wink:
  15. I don't think the plastic bumpers work either. It's a cost cutting measure that all (as has been shown) automakers use. A monochromatic Enclave is definitely a nicer looking vehicle, IMO.
  16. I want that Buick fob too! I stared at it for 5 minutes, just looking at it. Also, the steering wheel shown with the Buick emblem in the first pic with many steering wheels should be the brand's wheel. It's classy, and looks rich; perfect for Buick! The article was a great read (had to do it twice). This attention to detail is just what GM needs to continue to address. The black tie controls are a good stop gap, having the console buttons seperated and spread all over is worth the time and money; it's the number one issue GM needs to work on. All to often, I hear critics (of both GM and Ford) mention the interchangable corporate radio and climate controls that fit neatly into a standard black square.
  17. RWD is more of a Buick thing. AWD is more of a Saturn thing, IMO.

    Two for One

Agreed. The LaCrosse will beon Epsilon II. It'll be squarely aimed at the ES350. The Lucerne replacement should be int he form of the SWB Holden, sharing the platform with the G8 and next gen Impala. My only hope is that these cars aren't heavily revised enough to look different from one another. I really hope that they spend the money to make the Buick cars completely unique. I'd love to see the LWB Zeta come in the version of a flaship Buick; a value alternative to the LS460. Throw in a Velite coupe and maybe a small crossover off the next Theta and along with the Enclave, you've got a hell of a lux lineup.
  19. No. There isn't room for the new Malibu, new RWD Chevy sedan flagship above it, and the current FWD Impala.
  20. I really like the small details Chevy did to the car... they really took there time. I love the Chevy logo on the headlamp projector. Also, the molded lips above the tailpipes in the rear lower fascia... these are the things GM's designers would have overlooked in the past.
  21. IMO, it makes sense to leave the G6 a seperate car. That said, the G8 should have a V6, with a V8 option.
  22. I really like the front of the car. The rear is okay, and I'm sure it'll grow on me. The interior is show-car nice, I know, but I really like it. All in all, I'd rock it if they don't tone it way down.
  23. It's a great looking crossover, inside and out. The interior is beautiful, especially for it's class; the exterior loos like the baby brother to the Murano (and having a familar Nissan face) without being a clone. I think Nissan may have a hit with this one.
  24. It'll be priced with the 3-Series. I also predict it'll murder the 3...
