  1. I saw it!! I saw it!! Just got back from seeing the Transformers movie.....OMFG, it was awesome. To hear that voice, to see those characters again, well, it turned me into a 10 year old again. I couldn't help it, I got goosebumps all over when Optimus Prime first spoke.....needless to say that the movie action was wonderful. Sure, it was "normal" Michael Bay action, lots of shakey hand-cam work, lots of explosions and action. Good thing is you can take the family to see the movie if you want to, there's maybe only a couple of times any form of foul language is used, and typically it won't be much more than a damn or a $h!....nothing horrible. If you haven't seen it, I won't spoil anything for you, which means I honestly can't say a whole lot about the movie except for see it yourself. The end makes for a great cliff hanger for more movies. And Bumblebee as a Camaro (be it his '75 Gen-II version, or his NEW body), was FREAKING GREAT!!!! But yeah, I'm all giddy and excited, and dammit I'm going to see it again so I can drool and be a kid one more time, or more...who knows, all depends on what kind of paycheck the great payroll gods at CarQuest give me this week.

  4. Nope GM uses Exxon/Mobil oil in all of their engines from the factory, in high performance models (Vette, XLR, etc) they use Mobil1.
  5. what Camino said, and as far as I know, at least part number wise, the cranks are different (already had someone try to do this), so I dunno if it'll work or not.
  6. well, yeah we have a CQ full-synthetic oil. down here it runs about 3.80 a quart as compared to valvoline full dyn at about 6.00 a quart. GM stock oil is mobil (not mobil1, just the regular stuff)

  9. Actually the ratio deals more with the steering gear box moreso than the pump. Typically a GM pick-up pump will fit another without much trouble. The difference comes from whether or not the vehicle you're stealing the pump from has Hydro-Boost (pump will have two return lines), or not. If yours doesn't, and the useable pump doesn't, you're in business.

  17. I'll put it this way, at CQ we only sell two brands of filters, K&N and Wix (albeit in a CarQuest box) and we don't have anyone coming back and complaning.
  18. I'd go with JB weld and call it a day. Exhaust manifold cracks aren't serious, as everyone else has said on here, and if its not a BIG crack, just JB it and call it a day.
  19. 2001 Chevrolet Impala LS 9C1, 130,000 miles, only problem I've had was both front ABS wheel speed sensors went bad (not really a HUGE issue, more of a nuisance since the ABS light comes on, the car drives and stops fine, just the ABS system is deactivated). I've kept the oil changed, tires rotated and balanced, transmission filter was changed at 80,000 miles, tune up performed at 103,000 miles, coolant flushed and filled at 115,000 miles (it was 4 years old, had never had it done, figured might as well), has had one set of brakes all the way around. Its a reliable, sometimes, even a little bit fun, form of transportation to and from work. I haven't had a problem occur with the car that I couldn't fix, or even trace down withour more than a good service manual and some common sense.
  20. Easiest way to do it, look on the oil bottle itself, there should be some information that tells you where the oil is bottled at. Then look at say a Quaker State bottle. If the places are the same, more likely than not, you've got the same product in the bottle. For instance, Valvoline is owned by Ashland Corp, in Kentucky. All their oil is bottled there, our CarQuest brand motor oil is also bottled in Kentucky (actually same address and all) and whenever we have price changes come out, it states in the letter that the prices are set by Valvoline...so our private-label oil is Valvoline, just without the extra cost associated with the name brand and without the pretty white bottle.
  21. Possibly an issue with the fuel filter also, for no more tha $15 for the filter, it'd be a good investment even if its NOT the problem. Also with 120,000 miles on the engine, its likely that it has possibly seen its first tune up, so you might be able to get away without doing it. Although, I've regularly seen the AC Delco Platinum plugs that are in that engine go for almost 150,000 before they start seriously fouling out on you. If it were me, without any prior service history for the car, I'd start with the basics, fuel, air, and oil filters, followed by plugs and COP boots, after that probably a transmission filter and fluid change wouldn't be a bad idea. From there you could move into more serious procedures and checks if the problem persists.
  22. Sounds kinda like the inner boot on the CV axle going bad. Easy check, jack up that one side, look at the axle boots, if they're busted, ripped, torn, or otherwise not in one compete piece, then you're in for trouble, replace the axle.

Again, I say go for it Z, just like GMTG74 said, I had a crush on a girl all through high school, never said anything to her, always thought that she was going to laugh in my face, I was always good friends with her, always a confidant, someone she could talk to about whatever, but I always did like her. I just didn't have the courage to at the time. Hindsight being 20/20, I should have because I still have the "what ifs" about it. But I can't say that I'm sad about the situation but I definitely should have opened my mouth. Anyway, just tell her! (My wife even agrees with me on this one, tis better to tell her than torture yourself).
