  1. ^^what he said^^ Ahhh, the 4-4-2. One of my favorites! B) #1 - Chevelle SS 454 #2 - Olds 4-4-2 #3 - Buick GSX Now I won't be able to get any work done today! Mike
  2. Don't feel bad, I've felt the same way myself. Then I feel guilty for feeling that way.  My head hurts......
  3. Yeah, it's not the easiest question. I, for instance, work for a public school system. Now, if I were a parent (I'm not), I would not send my kids here. Not a bad school system but I prefer private education. That's my choice. Is it wrong? I hardly think so. At the same time however, one could view a GM worker owning a Honduh, TOYota, etc as being part of the cause of GM's problems. Good point about the import workers owning Domestics. BTW, love that sig pic Sixty8pather! Mike
  4. I agree. I think if GM would consistently improve upon the last model they wouldn't have to change names every two years. For instance, the 95 Cavalier was a huge jump in improvements over the previous generation. Had they continued improving it each year, the Cavalier would still bee a huge seller. And there would be no Cobalt, it would be called the Cavalier. GM should take a lesson from Honduh and TOYota on this one. Yeah, Civic sux but EVERYONE know's who makes it. I mean, I own all GM's and I can't keep track of what model changed to what from year to year. Why isn't the LaCrosse called the Regal (or Century)? Why isn't the new Lucerne called Park Avenue or LeSabre? BRAND RECOGNITION PEOPLE! It's all about the marketing, the imports get this! Okay, back on topic. I like this but agree it shouldn't be two years out! Very nice car and if it's not the Ion, it should be the SL-3 or something like that. Mike
  5. I'm a little late on this one! :) I'll second what rkmdogs said. I got my SS from a Stealership (very aptly named). Got the Buick from the ISSCA forums and the Olds from eBay. Look around, you'll find one. [flame suit on] I love my SS! BUT SS's are really a 9C1 with an appearance package and lowered an inch. Take a look at rkm's Caprice, if there was a white SS it'd be nearly impossible to tell them apart. Good luck! [/flame suit off] Mike
  6. Well, I've been driving the Buick wagon for a year now. Other than routine maintenance (belts, brakes, tires, oil changes, etc) I've put a total of $400 into repairs. That's only a month or two car payment. I like it too but all three of them are maroon, I'd like some variety. :) My favorite is black with grey lower trim. Only available 92 and very rare. I've only seen a pic once. Very nice! Mike
  7. Not quite automatic collectors numbers but they are getting hard to find. 1991 - 7,663 1992 - 4,347 Total - 12,010 Compare this to more than 10,000 each of the Roadmaster and Caprice wagons for the same years and quite a difference. Toronado had similarly low numbers?
  8. You're quite welcome. Lake Mirror sounds awesome! Wish I could sneak away but I've used up my vacation time for the year! Best of luck to both of you with your entry! B) ImpalaFest is coming up soon too. Some day I'd like to make that event. You know Mike Morgan of GOFASST? I've chatted with him a bit, used his idea to make some accessory switches for my SS. Very nice guy. Mike
  9. Yup. $3 or even $4/gallon is still cheaper than a car payment. And I do about 70 miles a day. While not as good as the Alero, my wagon gets better mileage than most SUV's out there. Averaged 22.5MPG on the last tank. B) Mike
  10. rkmdogs, That's a great looking 9C1. Nice work. I'm liking the clear corners. B)
  11. Computer at work, pic of my Roadmaster:
  12. Nope! :( Several b-body nerds (myself included) have pondered turning a simlar model Caprice into a Custom Cruiser Sedan. 88 would be interesting.... Hmmm..... Mike
  13. THANK YOU for saying that! I've thought that for years and cancelled my subscription some time ago for that very reason. Now, back on topic. I am a very big fan of the Impala SS (94-96 models). And other like fans continue to rag on the new SS because it's "not a real SS". Well one could argue that but I think this is the same point brought up above. Comparing the 94/6 SS to the 06 SS is apples to oranges. The current Impala (LS, SS, whatever) targets the Camry/Accord buyer. A great target, in my opinion and I think GM (as long as they can keep the quality up) has got them square in their sights. I had oportunity to watch an 06 SS in action in July at the Impala Nationals. I sat in it as well. Would I buy one? No. But I won't buy an Accord/Camry/500 either, the cars simply aren't my style. I do think that the car was very well built and (although a bit bland) styled directly towards the aforementioned competitors. Should GM take some Taurus-like risks? Yes. Will they? Lets see what happens, probably not. Mike
  14. I agree. Those are some great pics. I'd love to see a real wagon back at GM. Of course, I'm a little biased. http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif C'mon GM!!!
  15. I have to login each time as well, both at home and work. On Firefox here too. I'm also getting protected forum when I try to go to the Chevell Project section.
  16. People have been dropping GM V8's in Miata's for years. A V8 Sky (or Solstice) would be way cool and scary fast! I tell ya, I don't care much for small cars.....but I think I'd have one of these in my driveway! Gorgeous car! Mike
  17. Yeah baby! B) B) ....was wonderin' when someone would get around to posting a Vista Roof! I remember my Mom's '76 Pontiac GrandSafari clamshell. Way nice car, towing package with the 455 V8. Loved that car! No wood on Mom's though! Love my Roadmaster too. The last wagon big enough to actually hold a 4X8 sheet of plywood. Most SUV's can't do that!
  18. I can't really say that I have anything bad to say about the car. It's a little small (why I'm selling) but I knew that before buying. The build quality is quite tight, narrow gaps, nothing rattling, etc. Mechanically, no problems what else is there to say? It would figure that just when GM get's a car right they discontinue it. See also the 91-96 B-Body for examples of this.
  19. Absolutely! More of an addiction than a hobby......but it's a good addiction!
  20. HarleyEarl, you are just a fountain of cool stuff! Do you sit around at night looking this stuff up? j/k http://www.cheersandgears.com/public/style_emoticons//AH-HA_wink.gif That's really cool!
  21. I think, though, that 'pickup' means different things to different people based on current models. Most 'pickups' I see being used for commuter and 'soccer mom' duty are not what I consider a 'pickup.' A truck to me is a utility vehicle, mine seats three (not comfortably) and has an eight foot bed. Popular pickups have four doors, seat 5 or 6 and have a 4 or 5 foot bed. While popular among the 'home depot' crowd, that's useless for me. This type of pickup is really more comparable in usage to an SUV. As in, they're used for hauling people more than cargo, etc. Farm work, construction work, etc require hauling capabilities which simply don't exist in these 'short bed' trucks. So as not to get completely off topic on this....... I think wagons are making a comeback. I'm a bit biased of course. :P The stodgy image (while I like it) of wood siding and lumbering wagons is gone. Modern wagons are sleek, powerful and still can haul the groceries and kids. Now, of course, my wagon may not be sleek but I can still outrun a Magnum. Well except the SRT8! Will SUV's ever go away. No but like the minivan, their roll will change. Mike
  22. Wagons absolutely rock! Love that pic of the Police Caprice! Oh, see sig for my picture posting! :) Mike
  23. I really liked the Alero too. <shameless plug>I have an '02 GLS that I'm selling. </shameless plug> Mainly because I don't fit well in it. I've said many times I'd put the car up agains any accord or crapy...er camry. I thought it a stylish car without being too racy. And incredibly solid too, very well made. Nice car, sad to see it go. :( Mike Since I mentioned selling, is there somewhere on here where we can post For Sale stuff?
  24. Hi, my name is Mike and I love Oldsmobiles. :P I'm on my third now. Selling #2 and trying to get #3 roadworthy. #1 - '89 Cutlass Supreme (okay, a lemon but I liked it anyway) #2 - '02 Alero GLS (selling it to make way for the new wagon) #3 - '91 Custom Cruiser (under reconstructive surgery) GM1, I LOVE that sig pic. Some history? Mike
  25. Back!! Was just able to get back on today. Figures that it'd go down just as I was getting into it! Glad you're back C&G! B)
