Apparently the three known hostages have been released and the police are currently negotiating by phone with the suspect. The guy is described to be in his mid-40s, history of mental illness, and told his kid this morning "watch the news."

Agreed. I'm not big on coffee (even with cream and sugar in it, it's too bitter for my tastes) but I tried some coffee over in Italy and it actually wasn't too bad. I also had cappuccino over there a lot and it's much better than the crap we have here. Although when I was a kid, there was a Texaco station in town that actually made pretty good cappuccino...but that place has long closed.

A Nikon digital camera with 7.1 megapixels and 12x optical zoom...I cracked the LCD on my old HP Photosmart. That's pretty much all I really want.

We passed through Wilmington maybe 5 or so years ago and all I remember was crossing a big bridge. In fact, I think that's all I remember of the state of Delaware too.

I don't doubt that or deny that the earth is warming, but I don't understand why science is being skewed to suit political and social agendas...what is the ulterior motive? That's why I added the "hysteria" to the title. I find it disturbing that the UN is cherry-picking what it wants to display and portraying it as undisputed scientific fact. And the guy revealing these findings isn't just some hack...he was the UK's climate adviser under Margaret Thatcher.

I wish I could go, but Detroit is too far of a drive and I always have classes going on. It sucks here because all the good auto shows are so far away (Det, NY, LA).

The thing I don't understand about Hyundai is how they can come out with some great concepts (that RWD Tiburon coupe thing...I forget the name) and then take three steps backward by taking the back 1/2 of a 5-series, the front 1/2 of an LS, gluing it together and calling it a luxury sedan. This is as bad as some of the Chinese knock-offs. Hyundai has come a long way, but they will never been seen more than a cheap brand that people settle for when they put stuff like this out.

I run into that sometimes on the skywalk when I'm on lunch, especially when you pass the same ones everyday. Also, there's a girl at the skywalk pizzeria that always notices me when I walk in to order.

I had something similar happen at our Thanksgiving. My mom's side of the family is very rural so most of them drive Chevy and Dodge trucks, but a couple of my cousins (who are huge into Dodge) and who I would never have expected to hear this said "Those Toyota Tundras don't sound like too bad of a truck." I mean, these guys are your typical good old boys who watch NASCAR and work in the fields. One of my other cousins stepped in and started talking about how bad of gas mileage the Tundra gets compared to Chevy, then I pointed out the camshaft / tailgate stuff. I'm starting to wonder if people just see the 381 hp / big grille and automatically assume it's better. One of my uncles who is a huge GM pusher (especially Chevy vehicles) doesn't like the new CTS...he's gotta be crazy or something.

I think it's a pretty broad category...you have gearheads, design enthusiasts, people that are more into the future tech / trend side of things, etc. Anybody that oogles over any aspect of the car is considered an enthusiast in my book.

I really like the headlights and the overall car in general. I wonder how well all those creases and details would translate to a production model, though. The only thing that seems unnecessary are the "hood gills."

Ahh, I see what you guys are talking about now.

This can be found on older cars from the 80s and 90s...it's on my Lumina, although not quite as evident as today's cars (there's no beltline crease, but the greenhouse is lower than the fender line). I always thought Luminas would look better if the belt line continued uninterrupted, but it does give you more visibility out of the greenhouse I guess. You can see it on older Mustangs, but it seems to work on them IMO. I really don't think there is much value to it other than it being another runaway styling trend that every automaker seems to copy...just like triangular taillights were all the rage 2 years ago

I got a DVD/VCR player combo a couple years ago for Christmas and went to use it today only to find out that the DVD eject motor doesn't work. I've probably only used it 15-20 times since I've owned it because I watch a lot of movies on my laptop. It was some no-name brand called "Go Video" and my sister got the same one and had the exact same thing happen about a year ago. Country of manufacture: South Korea. Meanwhile, our 1982 RCA VCR back home still works to this day.
