  1. I had a Scion xD behind me today, the first one I've seen. At first I was like "what the hell...is that a new xA?" because I hadn't seen many pictures of it. It's an awkward looking little car. The hood line gap was so wide that I thought the hood was popped, but after checking pictures that's how it is. The front end is ugly, and overall it's not a very remarkable car...it looks worse in person than these pictures. I think even the xA looked better. The old xA for comparison

    Not a recall?!!

How much do you want to bet Toyota is calling this a "warranty enhancement" so that they don't claim 2007's "automaker with the most recalls" award. Last I heard, they were right behind VW as recall king.

    Not a recall?!!

So wait, if you have more than 100,000 miles or a Sienna older than five years you're out of luck? What a bunch of cheap bastards. If it's a defect, you recall ALL potential models affected, not picking and choosing at your own will. I would be outraged if I were a Sienna owner who had this problem and had 101,000 on the odometer. Toyota caring about customers? Bull$h!.

  5. Somewhat here too. Like Bob said, it's mostly papers, drawings, brochures, etc. I still have drawings of cities I did as a kid. Nowadays, it's car magazines that I really don't need to keep all but I like looking back at them and seeing how much has changed. Oh, and lots of studio models that I should probably throw but I spent so much money on that I can't get myself to do it yet. My grandparents in Chicago are the kings of pack-rats though...their basement and garage are completely full of anything and everything from the 60s - 80s. My grandpa hasn't parked a car in the garage since about 1970; there are literally paths through piles of stuff that are six feet high. Over the last couple years, my parents have been helping them throw away the stuff they really don't need. The basement is mostly cleared out and the garage is next.

  8. I've also wondered if Daimler was trying to sabotage Chrysler in later years in order to get rid of them. Many of the production cars and concepts like the Imperial are just hideous / tasteless compared to concepts and production Chryslers from the 90s. The Sebring was like a bad joke when it debuted. While I do like the Charger we have now, if given a choice between the concept and the production, there is no question I would pick the concept. The production one is too trucky, like most Dodge cars these days. The Challenger is a breath of fresh air for the Dodge brand, even though it's really just recycled air. I'd love to see the next Charger emulate the concept, the Avenger stop looking like a mini-Charger, and a true Dodge small car and roadster. The Imperial (if they ever build one) should not look like a Bentley knock-off. The 300C is nice but could use some refinement...Sebring needs a clean slate.
  9. Once again, Toyota cuts corners. One of the posts talked about how a Tundra owner who weighs 180 lbs could feel the tailgate flex when he stood by himself on it, while another said that him and two other 200 lb buddies would sit on the back of their Chevy tailgate and everything was fine. If the tailgate can't even take the weight of an ATV or some plywood, how is the rest of the truck going to fare after 200,000 miles? I foresee junkyards full of 2007 Tundras in the near future. Toyota already knew about this problem on the 2005 Tacoma and yet they didn't resolve it. This truck is turning out to be a major embarrassment.
  10. Also, that Dodge truck concept is nothing compared to this trainwreck
  11. I like the Compass concept except for the rear window. The Imperial never grew on me (too tall, too chunky, too Bentley) and the Super 8 could have been cool if it would have been toned down some, especially in the front. Worst concept to production execution ever: Airflite to Sebring

  15. I'll see what I can do this weekend. I think I'm going to update it and put the GMC, Hummer, and Saab logos on since I forgot them.
  16. Cool, I think I might try...I have a couple pretty good pics of the Lumina.
  17. I wanted to spruce up my desktop a little bit, so I made a GM wallpaper that is an optimistic look at where the company has been and where it's headed. It's sized for my monitor, which is widescreen (1280x1060 I think) but could probably be used on regular monitor dimensions if the "stretch to fit" option isn't selected. ~800x600 Full size image: http://img86.imageshack.us/img86/9645/gmbackground2vd8.jpg

  20. Sorry to hear about all this Sixty8...hope things work out for you and Julie.
  21. Happy belated birthday too, WMJ...hope you had a good one!
  22. It looks like it held pretty true to the concept.
  23. Has anybody ever played this game before? My dad's always been interested in aviation and first bought Flight Sim 4 when I was a kid, back when it was in 16 colors and only four buildings were shown for the Chicago skyline. It had an add-on program where you could build your own airports and landscapes, so I built my hometown and most of Western Iowa. Then we upgraded to Flight Sim 5 around '95, and this was huge because it now had 256 colors, texture map scenery, and thousands of airports around the US. New York and Chicago had 3D buildings, but I think that was it. Then we bought Flight Sim 95 (for Windows 95), which was another big leap because it now had 3D terrain, more realistic clouds and weather, and more cities and airports from around the world. Flight Sim 98 was pretty much just an evolution of 95...I can't really remember much about it other than it had better textures for cities and mountains. Flight Sim 2000 got more detailed with cities, adding helicopters to the aircraft list (they even had a heliport on top of the world trade center). Las Vegas was added and lit up at night. The last flight sim we bought was 2002 since I was graduating from high school the next year and the price kept going higher, especially for the Professional Edition. The main things I remember about 2002 are the better weather and 3D buildings that are generated over the entire landscape to make it feel much more realistic. Flight Sim 4 Flight Sim X

    Crossings

What's the name of that bridge? Is there some topographical reason they built it like that rather than just a straight bridge?
