  1. My idea of Good may be different than your idea of good. the US ideal of "good" is likely different than that of a communist state. So what makes good, good? who is to say that either of us are right? maybe we are both right, but then if we are both right then there is no "right" answer meaning we can never improve society because ethics is relative. whats your ideas? ::edit:: for the purposes of this thread don't list anything from the Bible of "proof" of good, feel free to argue the same points as those from the bible, but you will need to come up with another way to argue them. citing the bible just tends to devolve into some flaming thread.
  2. Assuming you have zero care about its negative effects on resale value (who wants to buy a badly modified vehicle?) And your not worried that your potentially shoddy handiwork could potentially harm you in a wreck (bolts come loose etc) then i would say go for it! but if you do go for it, PLEASE think out your design and make sure you take all the risks into consideration while doing it. I wouldn't want to see you get hurt just so you can rest your arm on something.
  3. Mini-Cooper is FR is it not?
  4. You know, i got to thinking, since it looks like were hitting our "Peak" temperatures given my previously posted image, that means that within the next few thousands years or so we will start sinking into another cold period... which is, of course, far worse for humans and most other life forms than a warm climate...
  5. WTF... i got a CTS V brochure for free, and thats probably a rarer brochure than the 'vette.... what a rip.
  6. yes but the early half of the world was very very very very hot with tons of CO2 due to large amounts of volcanic activity. An environment which is not very similar to todays Earth. Unfortunately, due to the earth recycling itself, we cant get soil/rock samples from the very beginning of the Earth.
  7. well the idea of investing money into building a VR seems rather silly considering that small cars are going to be using either very small 4s or 3 cyls. small cars are fuel economy oriented not performance. Cost-wise its not very practical. The only application i can see for this, is to help make room for a turbo or something on a small car.
  8. what ever bank angle that gives me that picture of course
  9. The began keeping records of this in the 70s... not much of a recorded history. Prior to the Little Ice Age it was believed that a navigable route existed. as you can see, dramatic climate changes in the past few million years are quite common. although what i want to know is who invested all this time looking at soil samples to get this data? Now im not saying that Humans play no part in this. I am quite sure that we can help exacerbate/retard trends... but just that... trends. So the Trillion dollar question is, is what humans can contribute to changing climates worth the huge expense of doing so? is a few trillion dollars worth a few tenths of a degree when its obvious that these crazy patterns have existed for at least a million years?
  10. I believe the future of the US will hold the "i dont give a damn about anything mentality" oughta be interesting to see how US global policy will be affected by this sentiment.
  11. Well the idea is that subcompacts are FWD Therefore the engines are mounted longitudinally. ---------hood OOOO ---------cabin makes more sense than ---------hood OO OO ---------cabin now for RWD applications... its a bit different... although I4 are still small anyways.
  12. The point is you can get this "hybrid" system for like 1k over normal rather than 3-4k
  13. Bigotry is far more widespread than you may think, most Americans are just afraid of being labeled as intolerants... Their true views still shine through the masks they wear though. I remember reading one case about racism. There were 3 groups of white people, the non-racist, the ones who said they weren't racist (basically racists in denial to be PC), and racists. Individuals in these groups were paired up with black people to solve some problem. Unsurprisingly the non-racists worked the best with them and had the fastest finishing time. Then, oddly, the racists had the 2nd best while the ones claiming they weren't racist (but really were) had by far the slowest time to completion. I thought this was a really odd study, and it sorta surprised me, i don't remember the reason they gave for the racists working faster, but i think it had something to do with basically saying that "yeah I'm a racist... and we got a job to do so lets do it" whereas the ones who claimed they weren't were subliminally giving racist intents which dampened their efforts. Even more unfortunately is the 2nd group is a quite large group. Anywho... amongst a lot of the hard-core religious types, homophobia is still quite alive.
  14. The idea that GMC should be killed off is preposterous. GMC is essentially just another level of trims of chevy models. You know, new grill, some extra badges... more std equipment... it doesnt exactly cost GM much money to have GMC hang around, and it brings in some decent profit. Plus there are people who would buy a GMC but would never buy a chevy and visa versa. So whats the idea behind killing GMC?
  15. lmao that video is great
  16. I love 50s educational films.
  17. Oh nevermind, the new engine makes 8 more torque which brings peak hp down to 6000rpm. Still, for 10 years of development thats rather pathetic.
  18. SO i was browsing through Volvo's website lookin at that cool new C30... well i decided to look at the S40... the 2.4L I5 NA engine that it has in it makes the EXACT SAME power as my nearly old 2.4L I5 NA engine. Now THATS PROGRESS! 10 years later its the same exact engine. The only difference is that the S40 gets a bit better mileage than my car, and im assuming thats because the S40 is smaller/lighter and has a 5spd hooked up to it instead of my 4spd.
  19. a small 3.5L turbo V8 might be fun too.
  20. Necro-posters!!! That being said, i would rather have a small 1.4L I4 that revvs to 9k rpm with twin turbos so it has decent low end grunt + great high end grunt... you know best of both worlds, good daily drive ability and fun to string out too.
  21. Then there was that 7 page thread that was made in a matter of hours. Then Nick and myself deleted all our replies in it, making the conversation seem like you all were idiots.
  22. So uhm, lets say i have a 4.1L engine, but i decide to take it down to 3.9L and proceed to increase the redline and generally make the car less fuel efficient... that means i can pay lower taxes on it?
  23. NOSFerrari2006! Remember that day Northstar blew up at me
  24. Well i did say "American neon ricers welcome also"
  25. why would u waste money customizing a aveo?
