That's what I was just thinking. Only bad part is the GP's slightly cheaper interior materials and cramped interior space. Other than that, the GP really does fill more of the "performance" category. Then again, the SS isn't meant to have as much of an edge to it, just the same power and a little bit more calm ride & handling feel.

Wow, I like it :AH-HA_wink: One of those was always on "my list", but it would have had to have been an "odd duck" like yours, since I wouldn't want the Supercharged engine (call me odd...), and virtually all of them were built with it. But for $2 grand--WOW!

I think it looks nice overall, but that face suffers from "GM bloated face syndrome" just like the Lucerne...not exactly ugly, but very oddly proportioned and fat looking. The GMC should be sharper and crisper than the Chevy, not the other way B)
-
Looks like the GMC gets a split fake wood/fake aluminum...while the Chevy just gets either all fake wood or all fake aluminum. Not much else is different inside.

A few pics off CarDomain: The LS looks pretty good, except for the missing side trim...but that could be stuck on pretty easily, I guess, if you wanted. Still think I'd for for a 1LT though, so I could still get a cloth interior but also a wider range of options like our '04 LS has.

It's a beautiful car and built like a tank, but still an "odd" duckling that very, very few people even know exists. For the quality and styling, the price is incredible and I'd buy one, but I'm not sure if I'd fit...

Here's a new '07 "regular" Yukon on Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2007-GMC-Yu...1QQcmdZViewItem

Oh, that's not bad then. Did they use "soft" cloth like in the old/current gen trucks or switch to stiff, thin stuff like the Equinox?

GM Says Full-Size Sales Exceeded Expectations
caddycruiser replied to Variance's topic in General Motors
I never said they weren't selling, I just said that if you do some checking and ask some dealers in different places, it's not like there's waiting lists or MSRP+ pricing going on...a good deal of them are still sitting idle, and a general consensus among a lot of buyers is that they're too expensive at this point, since there's no incentives yet. Check this thread to see what I mean: http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...=60entry83768 -
On that note, you wouldn't happen to have any LS model pics, would you? Any real difference other than the black handles and mirrors?
-
Well, I guess that does make sense, but I still think they're overpriced. Everything you said seems highly accurate, but the days of seeing $10-15k off Suburbans and Tahoes still perturbs me a bit....
-
Just like I expected...the 4.8 will be kept around just so they can say that they have a starting price under $xxxxx <_< Doesn't matter that the power and even economy doesn't match the typical 5.3, just "have to have" it around... Like I said, there's nothing on an '07 LS 2wd to mandate a pricetag from $34k and up...nothing, except, for unnecessarily building in a bit of a discount "bubble" so that you can cater to the people who won't buy without seeing a significant chunk of price removed...even if it does just mean all you're doing is an invoice deal. The MSRP and invoice should be a lot closer (i.e., instead of $3k or more, cut that down to $1-1.5k), and both should be lower in the first place. We've yet to ever buy a new car that wasn't offered to us at invoice or lower without even asking (and before rebates), as that's pretty much the figure that most dealers have adapted to selling at anymore. You work at a dealer--do YOU think this little idea of a significantly lower MSRP/invoice would work or no? There would definately be some overlap with the pathetic Trailblazer and Envoy, but hopefully a replacement for those things will have a lower pricetag too, and that overlap will shrink. Plus, it's not like it would hurt already pretty slim margins...if you sell at invoice or close to it most of the time anyway, there's no big deal. I'm just sick and tired of GM saying they're changing their pricing dramatically, and only half-assing it...

Though the old/current gen were always very good trucks, I'd venture to say one of the #1 reasons for their sales numbers were that people could ALWAYS get a good deal on one. That's the main reason why so many buyers end up being repeat buyers, like the older couple at church who has bought a new Tahoe every year for the past 5 years...started out with 2 LT's, and are now on their 3rd Z71 in a row, each a different color. That's why, when I was waiting to see the pricing, I ASSUMED GM would really try and get the MSRP's down to levels a LOT closer to what people were always used to paying after the loads of discounts. Not saying they need to have no room whatsoever for haggling, but there's no way in hell a 2wd Tahoe LS should still be starting not much under the $34k mark...that's just ludicrous for what you get. $29k as an absolute base, I could see, but not mid $30's. A nice truck, but not THAT nice. They still haven't been out for that long, but I'm assuming some pretty hefty rebates will be right around the corner, as they get the rest of the line rolled out and on the lots. I'm really wondering what made them say this, when it really wasn't true: Mr. LaNeve declined to say how much GM would lower prices compared to Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp. and other car makers, but he said the sticker prices would be "aggressive." The first indicator of how low GM tends to go will be in the pricing for the new Chevrolet Tahoe, which will be announced next week during the Detroit auto show. Oh yeah, really aggressive cuts there... ^_^

GM Says Full-Size Sales Exceeded Expectations
caddycruiser replied to Variance's topic in General Motors
They're already coming off as too expensive, just like the last gen's were, and I'd like to know where in the U.S., exactly, the demand is so great. Some Tahoes are moving, but not that many...especially not with that kind of a pricetag, sans incentives. -
They're talking about just the screen being there still. A lot of cars, like those mentioned, rather than having 2 completely different sets of center stack parts, just use the same screen for Nav and non-Nav cars, the latter just not having the Nav funtion, and instead just having things like a clock readout, temp, etc.

I KNOW. The most shocking part to me was how NO one else in the class even had the slightest bit of reaction to the comment. It was, like I said, a 50/50 split between those who claimed to own an import and those who didn't, but STILL. That was the first time I ever saw the "perception" in real life action. The professor seemed to get it, and even had a bit of a smile after that comment, but still didn't really say anything towards it not being really true.
-
They advertise it, but I really don't think it has one bit of effect. People buy Toyota, Hondas, Hyundais, etc., because, real or fake, the perception is that they're higher quality through and through over the domestics. Saying that some fellow Americans put it together doesn't hurt, but it also doesn't seem to boost anything.
-
Yeah, why should they? If people are buying them regardless, you don't need to hang yourself and start offering extra good deals...at least with rebates that is. Honestly, I don't see a prolem with a low % rate offer though...that's actually a good thing, and something the likes of the mostly no rebate Honda/Acura/Lexus do pretty consistently, but don't always advertise. Low rates are a good "seal the deal" thing, after you're satisfied with the price. Just do a good rate and nothing else, and that wouldn't be so bad.
-
Though it isn't cheap, the Escalade has always been the one GM SUV model that never really needed much of any discounts to move...people who want and can afford one, are going to buy one, regardless. At least now, with the stunning difference in refinement and build quality, the sticker will actually seem a lot more fitting. Expensive, but that's what a Caddy is supposed to be :AH-HA_wink: On the other hand, I still think the Tahoe and Yukon could drop a grand or two...

Honda Announces Pricing for Redesigned 2006 Accord
caddycruiser replied to Variance's topic in Honda
Though I still think the Accord Hybrid is a pretty nice ride, and the extra electric power combined with the gas engine makes it quite quick, but strangely enough, even the first year '05 models didn't seem to sell all that quickly...you can still find, randomly, NEW leftover '05 Hybrid models on dealer lots and Ebay. A nice design, but not one that seems to have much of a following. -
Well, I should have clarified...no Chevy EXCEPT for the Vette. That car is just in a completely different league, and well worth it...mostly.
-
I completely agree, and have said that NUMEROUS times. At the top end, a Tahoe LTZ with everything and the kitchen sink should be at $45k (no Chevy should be in the $50k+ range, regardless of how nice it is), and the "typical" should be in the $35-40k range. They'll be at those points and lower when the discounting begins, but until then, the MSRP's are still too high.
-
Well, yeah, true, but trucks have come a LONG way in recent times, and most can now rival various luxury cars. I'm not saying the GM ute's aren't terrific, but they still shouldn't always build in such a big "discount bubble" into the MSRP's. Yeah, lately others like Ford and Dodge have had the same problem, but when was the last time you EVER saw a rebate go over even the $2k mark for something like a Seqouia? Didn't think so...
-
I feel ya, BIG TIME...but, you can still compare that to a current '05 or '06 where the typical LT 4wd model stickers at no LOWER than $48-49k. Of course there is always more than a $10k discount on those, but it's still ridiculous. I priced out a few "for fun" in the past couple weeks, and the final MSRP's are a couple grand lower than before, but still too high. So, I think, it won't be long before there's some pretty heavy discounting, as soon as the initial "gotta have the 1st one" factor wears off a bit.

Anyone else notice the GMT-900 (or at least almost identical...) steering wheel in that thing? B)
