Wow, that does stink. My EXACT SAME accident with the Fleetwood took longer than expected, but thankfully it was at the best shop anywhere near by, and my brother even works there. They had to rush right before leaving for Christmas and didn't get to mounting a new wheel & tire, but were so nice otherwise, not a problem at all. The funny part is the fit & finish of the side they worked on is a bit better than the untouched factory side. So...things will work out, but there's no excuse. Shops get loaded down to no end (my brother, sometimes, works from 7:30'ish to almost 8 at night once in a blue moon just to help), yet it should have no bearing on their work if they want that volume to continue. Wishing you luck, especially since my accident had glitches too, but worked out very well in the end.

Hee-hee. As much as I do think it's an awesome little car, it's a "weekend car" like I heard a lady say while looking at the one GXP they have inside last week. I find it intriguing one can be purchased (not leased, as the terms aren't good) for the same as my loaded G6, but couldn't do it. Only if I needed a fun spare. But with 0% for 72 OR $3000 in cash plus any discount laying on them at least for these few days, I think with few people realizing them, there are some Solstice deals to be had this weekend.
-
Unrelated, but hmm development. Guess what my dealer just got in? A base Solstice automatic in Silver with black cloth, a couple small options, and an MSRP EXACTLY the same as the 'ole G6 coupe. Heck, you can even do the 0% or considerable rebate cash on the little roadsters now too, like most GM's. I think that boat has sailed, but maybe I'll drive the little bugger for fun.

GREAT point and one I've pondered...the brand always talked about killing, yet look how many of us have gone for them. Well, actually, on that point it doesn't seem like loyal GM sales to Pontiac are hard, but conquests aren't overly common. Or maybe they are. I'm curious to ask at the dealer. When I stopped by yesterday to drop something, my saleslady was out with another young guy perusing the G6's. She told me he just graduated college TOO and was interested in the G6, probably a GT coupe as well...but also considering a 4-cyl sedan for gas mileage. Wasn't sure yet. If anything, Pontiac seems to get the youngest of buyers.

Yes, that was me, and it was actually my month with a last gen '07 Malibu 2.2L that sparked the whole Malibu interest, and teamed with the look and exciting commercials, made my mother want to trade her Suburban for the Dark Gray beauty you see above. GM really got this car so right in looks, ESPECIALLY the 2LT's and LTZ's, it's a knockout. I love mom's like my own and almost went for one, then I went loopy, and got a platform mate G6 coupe instead. The interior and overall sophisticated look aren't at the same level, but the coupe layout and tuning make it really fun. But yeah...Malibu, oh Malibu, I love you. Funny enough, yesterday out of the blue, I saw 5 and EACH one was a 2LT 4-cyl. Looks great in every color, and the wheels, of course, add to that ritzy aura.

Very true. LOTS of people who just had them because they liked them for daily drivers and such threw them to used lots like the plague, but there's a whole industry and business that NEEDS them. Definitely nowhere near as huge as the truck market used to be in general, but still worthy. Then again, with the coil rear thing, as well engineered as I bet it is, might scare some truck people. Hopefully it's better done than the new minivans that don't have a design problem as much as they seem to have far underspec'd coils out back making them look saggy too quickly and--according to some reviews--just as floppy in feel. I presume the truck won't have such issues, and is certainly more rigorously tested. That said...great power ratings and I still really like the Dodge look and even the interior. If a truck is what you need or you're just loaded and want, worth a look, like anything.

Like I said in my email, the chrome package is REALLY nice and fits beautifully with the "Caddy" WD and Taupe, and then the wheels with it give the GT look vs. the other base wheels. If there's anything I think I might have liked on what I got, it might have been the 18's in chrome if offered, as that's always a perfect touch with the WD. Interested to eventually hear your thoughts on your Aura vs. G6 now, as they're so often wondered about as different versions of EP. We HAVE to do a family picture if we ever meet up for anything

My father has always been oil change man for all of the household cars, and prescribed to 2 schedules religiously. 3k for mom's cars which are used the most and always new, and the same is true for mine generally regardless. Otherwise, it's 6 months or spring and fall for his Roadmaster, Fleetwood, and everything else he's ever had, as they're driven, but not much total. The Roadie has gone, I think, 19-20k total in the last 5 years, for example. Only uses a quality dino oil, and knows the benefits of synthetic, but too pricey to be worth it to him and his uses.

Hah, yeah. I always wondered who got the job of delivering and picking up dealer swap cars, and it was interesting to learn so. They apparently have a couple of older people, guys and gals, who don't want to work typical days but are all up for a nice road trip in new cars when their phone rings. I said I could do that job part-time...sure.

Not to steal his thunder, but BREAKING NEWS: GMTruckGuy74 (aka Roger) and his wife WILL be getting a new G6 as well. We shall have cousins :AH-HA_wink: That's two, who wants to buy a third...in WD of course?

Don't know. It's supposed to be down here by mid-day tomorrow, and though she's off, my saleslady said she'd be in a little after lunch "so I could come check it out", but I'll play that by ear. No rush. As for actual delivery, could be anytime, but we said Monday this morning. That's a whole weekend, but will need prep time for the car and to get all of my papers ready and together. I started placing ads for the Caddy FINALLY at least on some forums and emailing people who were interested. I still have my blank For Sale signs, so maybe it's time to use them as well. Funny enough, when I first stopped by today to do my credit app, she told me 2 guys from out of state were in last night just passing through to look at some things after coming down from Carlisle, and were chatting about buying/wanting a Fleetwood/Brougham after the show, she thought from early 90's. Didn't have their number though, but a random happenstance, for sure. Still going the surprise route with this too, as no one but a couple at work know. At least, so far, good comments from the previous all Ford guy. Not him, but a "hot car" in the pictures I showed him. One of the girls just said "Without that big wing thing, right?" Hah. And that's coming from a Grand Am owner. The Street Package just didn't do much for their eyes. Now I'm just wondering too, how the car might be coming down. A ferry ride would actually be a big shortcut, but I guess it's up to the older lady driving. I'll see it soon enough regardless. Wondering, too, about the outcome with Roger and his wife and their G6 trials if they happened...

Well, HAD one...dad sold it to buy the '93 Fleetwood when he realized his true lack of time to fix something up to. Oh what a line of cars there has been through this household... Back to the car haulers!

I'm having an early 20's crisis...but I ended up with a Pontiac and not an, uh, Audi/Mini/VW, yet just as happily nervous. Maybe that will be the next crisis :AH-HA_wink: That said, congrats, and I like the usual forum mystery of "what is it"!
-
No you haven't...trust me. Check your email in the next couple of hours.

Now I'm seriously in the nervous stage. Excited but nervous. In the way of did I really just do that? And am I really going to have a car payment and higher insurance now...eek. Hopefully once I see it and take a spin, that will help, along with getting the Caddy adopted (but I've talked enough about that). This has been quite the thread guys...and it shall continue
-
Apparently it's coming tomorrow...ah, the best thing about dealer locates. Just like an order, but you get the car in a day or two :AH-HA_wink: Which is good and bad, but still cool.
-
Hah, sure. Come for a visit and ride any day, once its here. OR I could give you the set to a really great Cadillac...
-
I'm not sure of delivery (like I said...no rush), but was just down there again and they made a trade for the car with their own freshly delivered White Diamond/Taupe convertible. I was thinking maybe they'd take the GXP coupe, but nada. The other fun part. Who gets it or brings it down? They have a few retirees working for them who like to drive occasionally, and they arranged for an older lady to drive the convertible up to Jersey and come back down with my coupe. I laughed and said "PERFECT...slow and steady break-in".
-
I know, I know...it's coming, I swear. This is what happens when you start work at 7:30 in the morning get home in the evening and only have a couple of hours to deal with life's matters. It is coming TODAY, by evening/early night. Same for Roger. Pictures, specs, and all. I just don't want to have to put tacky For Sale signs in it...so anyone on a forum I know well gets first grabs. And preferably not TOO far, either, so I can even do a pleasant delivery of the beast with no surprises. When are you headed back to the states (or our favorite tax-free one) anyway?
-
Yes, I know..."coulda". The 2 base V6's they have coming in have MSRP's actually just about $1200 or so more than the G6 coupe I picked. The issue? Financing stinks on them and leases/SmartBuys really are crap, and they were just way too much. A great car, but still even more than I want.
-
Sounds good...and I REALLY like the WD/Taupe leather AND Ecotec combo. That should have a very nice price too...it isn't Malibu in overall polish, but feels just as solid and I thought as quiet. Just depends on if you also like the looks and interior. And thankfully even it's "old" radio got an Aux. jack for 2008, which is a good thing for me--having had that in the Caddy for a while now. It's the most affordable and also most sporty Epsilon now, so a good deal in red lighted glory. On the other thing...we'll continue to converse :AH-HA_wink:
-
Haha, BEST post EVER here Cool enough, the dealer it's coming from actually has pictures on their website: ^^That really made me anxious to even see it. I'm still getting used to the idea of white...but at least it's not Whirlpool white, it's "Caddy white". Hah. The front plate bracket sucks (Jersey...ugh), but I already said to remove that and plug the small holes like they did with my mother's Malibu. Small trade off for the "right" car.
-
Eee...17/26. Odd, because even the Impala 3.5L has a highway rating of 29, but after driving the car and looking at specs, I think it's likely due to the gearing. Uh-oh, not an Ecotec. But I HOPE it can do well driven lightly, which it should.
-
Now that I did it...I'm pulling for you. Cousins, we'll call it :AH-HA_wink:
-
Understandable, and I still think that at times. Well, that, and that I should have driven or tried out more things. That said...I did it. Did the GMAC app, approved, and she just called me back to say she had it all set up and they'll be bring the car over from Jersey. No turning back now. The Caddy is being SO nice today, I feel a bit bad already. Oy. I told her no rush at all, and it might have to sit, as I was thinking...but probably not long. Now. Did I REALLY just go for a G6? Apparently so, and a very nice one, I think. We shall see.
