Car Carriers

25 posts in this topic

I have this thing about car carriers, ever since I was little. I have a small collection of photos, but they seem hard to find.

If you have any to share, I'd appreciate it.

I guess the bumpers were bolted on at the dealership as part of PDI in those days. Interesting!

It is a bit of a mystery.....why partially completed cars on a carrier?

Maybe from one factory building to another?

Great pictures...reminds me now of the huge and fully decked out (like a live-in cabin inside) closed carrier transport that came to pick up our Chevelle we sold in 2003. Just as fascinating, the regular daily car carriers you always see.

You have a Chevelle? Sweet what year? What motors/trans? What color? What trim? Caddycruiser you got it made a family full of BOF RWD cars a new G6 Coupe coming and the best looking new Malibu an LT2 with those sweet rims.

The name for those kind of trucks are usually "Peteabegos" or "Kenabegos" or they are called "Condo Cabs" too.

Well, HAD one...dad sold it to buy the '93 Fleetwood when he realized his true lack of time to fix something up to. Oh what a line of cars there has been through this household...

Back to the car haulers!

It's a perfect picture, spoiled only by the fact that there's an Avalon on the carrier along with the Corvair, Trans Am, 1965 Impala, C3 Corvette, and Old Cadillac.

Is that a Comet up there that looks like its trunklid is open? Cool crop of pics so far. I have not seen a Colt Woodie wagon since... who knows? :scratchchin:
