  1. Have faith... Wait till I get home, you guys KNOW how I am about photos. So far I have a 512 & 1G memory card FULL of photos from our roadtrip! Met up with a gentleman from Buick-59.com and saw TWO 1959 Buicks in Tulsa, the first one was the first classic car that we saw as we pulled into down town Tulsa. I beleive in fate, I guess my B-59 did not feel up to the trip, or perhaps if we had taken it we would have fared worse in that 10 car pile up we almost got caught up in by Dallas TX. We cheated death that night, and still got to see TWO 1959 Buicks in Tulsa.
  2. Sixty8 again... Ahhh well... it's all good. The 1959 Buick would have gotten about 14 on the highway... give or take. We're getting EXACTLY double that in the Intrepid. Plus the whole Datsun camper sage will alow me to "nose up the 59" to Balthazar's Invicta soon enough. I tried EVERYTHING I possibly could to take the Buick... but in the end when th car still overheated and the waterpump was pissing dexcool like a faucet we had to think of a plan B. In the end it's all working out great. Having a great time, the conversation & sight seeing makes up for the vintage iron feel of the B-59 which is loud as a *#&$% right now since the exhaus lacks ANY muffler... long story. Hello from Virginia... we're about to cross over into Tenn & very shortly after into Georgia. Perhaps it was meant to be, we're rockin' a Mopar to go see a 50 year old Mopar get ecavated & see the light of day for the first time in 50 years. For those who wish to call us my cell # is 978-621-6795. Right now the plan is to head to New Orleans... since we are ahead of schedule all in all.
  3. This is Dodgefan btw So we're still here, the car is finally about ready to go. Basically it's been an ongoing saga with the B-59 and it's water pump. JB Weld didn't work, Teflon Tape didn't work, so in the end we ended up drilling and threading holes for the impeller and the shaft, then after Paul, Jessica and I went to Sears for screws, we threaded them into the shaft to keep the impeller on, and cut the bolt heads off so they wouldn't hit anything. After that the 3 of us (while Sixty8 worked on the car), went on another trip to AutoZone and then Advanced Auto Parts for a belt that would fit the water pump/generator. Sixty8 managed to fit one on by the time we got back but it's good to have a spare. So now the car runs like a champ, but the water pump leaks a bit. That's what adding coolant is for though! Other fun stuff includes a 4th gen Camaro fan (from speedingpenguin) mounted reverse to help keep the engine cool when the car isn't moving. It makes a lotta noise but hey it works...and probably won't be heard over the sound of the car's non-existant exhaust. We have it packed up and sagging already but that's half the fun. It's also got a boom box rigged up for superior sound quality. So...yeah...it's almost 9 and and we're still here! But we'l be leaving soon, so I hope you're ready for a midnight doorbell ing Baltazar. We'll be bringing the laptop, so expect to see a post every now and then. Wish us luck!
  4. Cool. I KNOW on more than one occasion that tired old 190K mile 307 Olds motor in my 1986 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham propelled me past 100mph, but I have no idea just how fast I was going. The needle would go past 85 and then just dip right off the indicator and the car would still be picking up speed. Those old BOF Cadillacs have ridiculous gearing. I think 110 would be a good guess. That is a hell of a lot of weight to propell at that velocity.
  5. My problems do not involve lack of space.... if I was in need to mess with the B-59 right now it would be to install a Duramax Diesel so as to save money on fuel economy, as far as space, Balthazar is right, there is more than enough. Julie was resting her head on my shoulder the other day while I was driving & she was sitting in the dead center of the front bench seat, there was plenty of room to spare. Balthazar: I'm thinking 5, 6 maybe later? Is that cool? I gotta call GM1 too....
  6. Like Tall Paul said.... it's not a matter of IF it's a matter of WHEN. I gotta get him on this forum.
  7. Funny stuff.
  8. Stop looking at the monkey in the cage, you're only instigating.
  9. Masochism is alowing your self worth to be so low that you manage to justify in (your) warped mind driving some piece of $hit sub-compact Toyota or HondAcura.
  10. Very nice. BV's drawing is a great example of a modern hardtop.
  11. I'd love to break that guy's fu$%in' head of & piss down his neck. But violance is not the answer so instead I will think of him every time I fill up my '59 Buick between Boston & Tulsa as I'm getting all of 11.8mpg.
  12. Even though I have very little respect for FWD anything these Impalas/MCs are built like tanks and do well in terms of safety, reliability, durrability & longevity.
  13. Right, is it about resale or styling?
  14. Best Looking Cadillac: new CTS I also like the Escalade, STS & SRX The XLR is cool but has not aged as well as some of the others... Worst Looking: DTS. Those goofy FWD proportions make for a stupid looking profile. Like 99% of modern FWD cars the damn front wheels are set back about 12" more than would look pleasing to the eye. The current Nissan Maxima & Buick Lucerne are two more examples of this bad styling characteristic that plagues FWD cars. Pretty much everything about FWD pisses me off. Speaking of which if we include the EU only BLS than that takes the cake! That car has a disgustingly awkward huge front overhang.
  15. I think 99% of Saturns are crappy econoboxes... except for the Sky. That having been said a friend's family has had three Saturns, two of them went a 1/4 of a million miles. They were both 5-speeds and one would have gone past 250,000 miles if it had not been totalled.
  16. What a sad f**king thread. I guess hope springs eternal... as long as the car is a Toyo-DUR.
  17. Sure, why not? I'll PM you my phone #.
  18. Coral Reef
  19. First up for C&G member visits/stops along the way... The night of the 12th, GM1 & Balthazar. Perhaps a phone call or two is in order.
  20. ONe of my long term goals is to build a Corbra 427 replica with CHEVY big block power.
  21. Read the original article posted in this thread, the lawyer is going with the whole "I was trying to kill aliens" story that his scumbag client made up.
  22. Looks like it's down to just FOUR of us. Myself, my friend "Tall Paul" Dodgefan & Jess his girlfriend. I wish I could have brought along Julie but such is life, right? I'm not sure how much internet time I will get on the road, if at all. If for whatever reason you should feel the need to contact me feel free to send a presonal message to XP715 who can call me or just drop me a line at [email protected]. I'll have Julie check that email periodically for me so that I can stay on top of things & I'll be in touch with her via the phone & text messages.
  23. One day left.... I'll be replying to all your PMs soon, right now I'm in the middle of 74,306,214,538 things so I gotta run. Yes I will make every effort to meet up with as many of you as possible.
  24. Speaking of which Dodgefan I just tried calling you....
  25. What do you call 1,000 dead lawyers at the bottom of the sea? . . . . . . . . .
