This is the night I bought the car... it was garaged while a Volvo 240 wagon, 2000-something Ford Taurus & an early 1990s Crown Vic. stayed outside.
-
Yeah, noticed it the other day. Saturn is finally coming into its own...

Chrysler Imperial one step closer to production
Sixty8panther replied to Drew Dowdell's topic in Chrysler
I agree.... a highly RETRO 50s or 60s style Imperial would be fantastic! -
Beige/Tan/Sandrift Not clean & simple like silver but can't bring itself to commit to gold. Plain, boring & uninspired.

Great point... the Datsun is almost as ugly. That blackout trim is horrific. The car looks awful with all those stickers and lack of chrome. Sorry to be a tick in the mud. Now a nice, regular 2dr with all the chrome I consider to be a cool car. Boxy styling & monochromatic trim with no chrome looks ugly as sin to me.

Yup, the spedo is kind of cool, the door panels are very classy IMHO.

Yeah, sorry. -
Not a big fan... between the blackout trim & boxy styling it is not a good looking car to me.

the dirtier the fliter the MORE dirt it is catching... therefore the BETTER it is working.

... and you thought GM had some bad crash test results?
Sixty8panther replied to the_yellow_dart's topic in The Lounge
But then again the test of the VW Beetle (classic) versus a "modern" Golf proves just how futile progress is at times. =In any case the VW microbus was an ancient & unsafe design from the get-go in the 1960s.... the closest thing to it would be a Toyota Wunderwagon.... -

Well that was quick. The LeSabre is sold... I have a gentleman's agrement with a member of this very forum who has decided to buy it for a low-low-LOW price with the promise that the car will never see a demolition derby & it will NOT be a Donk-Box-Bubble. It is up to the buyer weather they want to speak up. I bought the Roadmaster Estate for $412.00 Seriously. It needs some serious work but is drivable. I'm keeping that one long term... you'll see plenty of photos soon enough. I have not taken any photos yet, beleive it or not. it's baby blue with the gawd-awful wood sides. By the time I get another transmission in the car or get my trans. serviced it will probably be flat black.

The car is on Craigslist as of a few min. ago: ~~~~~~~~~~~ Maybe you want a mint 1970 Buick Grand Sport GSX Stage-II 455 ragtop w/ a 4-speed in Saturn Yellow? But you're on more of a 1986 Buick Century budget? Hot-diggaty do I have the car for YOU! You're looking at a rock solid 1976 Buick LeSabre four door HARDTOP with the 7.4 liter 455 iron v8. So it may not be as quick & as fast as a 1987 Buick Grand National with the 3.8 liter TURBO but it will absolutely NOT dissapoint as a fun, cheap, super easy to work on "family muscle car". I bought this car after I fell in LOVE with it a few weeks ago... it has been my daily driver for a few weeks now but an unexpected job change leaves me in a position where I NEED a truck. I need the money and the space in my driveway for a rollback flatbed since I am changing careers and rethinking my life all together. I have three other cars so this one is just a toy for me at this point. This car absolutely MUST be sold by June 10th, so make an offer today before it's outta here. Here's the basics: 1. Super SOLID... 99% less rust than a typical New England 1970s car! 2. Only 74,000 miles (original milage) 3. Originally from Nebraska... hence the lack of rust (#1.) 4. Nice reliable 455, 1976 was a good year for 455 blocks 5. Body On Frame construction, they DO NOT make 'em like this any more! 6. Bronze exterior paint, tan top & tan interior 7. I think GM called this color "Monkey $#it Brown" 8. Brand NEW tires, big wide 235-75-R15 blackwall radials 9. Some small tears & rips in the driver's seat 10. "Dissapearing B-pillar" roof, frameless glass 11. Yes it IS a hardtop... just like you uncle's 1959 Cadillac deVille 12. Headliner, rug, door panels etc. in good shape 13. I replaced the V-belt for the alternator & H20 pump 14. All glass is in great shape, no breaks or chips 15. Lights, safety euip... it all works 16. AM radio with crappy speakers only works every other thursday 17. Only one hubcap has curb damage 18. Brake job just done, recent new alternator 19. Just installed a new hood ornament w/ a heavy duty retaining spring 20. New trunklid emblem and repainted air cleaner cover 21. Anteana built into the windshield (like on my 1979 Citation) 22. All stainless rocker panel trim present 23. Nice clean Rotchester Carb. It likes to suck down the 87 octane 24. Still gets better fuel economy than a lot of big modern SUVs 25. 100% rust free trunk, inside & out spackle paint like new 26. Original bumper jack & tire iron included 27. Rear seat is MINT, I can not deny or confirm any fornication 28. A few dents & dings add to it's character... 29. The right front fender is off an Electra 30. You get ONE free extra porthole, for a total of seven (see #29.) 31. Just like all the cool classics the high beams are on the floor 32. Super swank door panels with the tri-shields 33. Original foor mats, those alone are worth $3 at a yard sale 34. Also has one of coolest accessories of the 1970s: Crotch Vents 35. Remote Trunk Release, in glovebox (this 'aint not Piece of $hit Ford) 36. Manual Windows, they never break like power ones. 37. Assuming you want to keep the original paint it IS in good shape 38. This car would look great painted in flat black like a classic Hot Rod 39. I can paint it flat black for you at no additional cost, your choice 40. Former owner was a Justice of the Peace, Balla!!! 41. It gets somewhere between 4 and 37 miles to the gallon 42. You do NOT need to do an emissions test since it's a classic 43. You can get cheap insurance since it's a classic 44. You can get Antique plates (see #42.) 45. New dome light & rear view mirror just installed 46. Huge 18-wheeler style Honda-crushing bumers front & rear 47. Officialy it's a 6 passanger, but it will seat about 9 semi-comfortably 48. There's room for a shovel, big bag of lyme & about 5 bodies in the trunk 49. It has Buick's standard "USS Enterprise" suspension package 50. Inspection sticker (100% pass) good until December of 2007 All those annoying things that make a cheap used car a moneypit are NOT present on this car. The fuel tank does NOT leak, the brakes are perfect and stop great the transmission shifts smoothly & without any drama while the legendary 455 motor purrrs like a kitten. Will consider interesting trades... (pre 1979 cars/trucks) Cash talks, cashier's check will be okay too. Call Silvester -------- cell: 978 621 6795 --------

Anyone have experience with B-Body Eighty-Eights?
Sixty8panther replied to Flybrian's topic in The Lounge
That's right. More details to follow. -
the geniuses at Hond-Accura will manage to make the production version even more awkward & ugly. So much for the mid-engined layout I guess. Did I ever tell you guys I went to high school with a kid who designs for Honda now? I beleive he works in Ohio but it might be California...

Sixty8panther replied to Flybrian's topic in The Lounge
That sucks. I bought a B-body yesterday for no good reason other than "impulse buy". -
Slight change of plans... possibly. I now own THREE Buicks and I might be taking the newest one to OK.

I'm using them for the first time in almost half a decade. Someday when things settle down perhaps Julie & I will have a reason to NOT use them if you get my drift. I never wanted Sofia to be an only child, too bad Marcia & I never had a second, & now it's water over the damn I guess but if the situation is right in the future I would not be opposed to giving Sofia a sibling w/ Jiulie. -
It's def. a 1st gen. Tiburon... that was apparet as soon as I saw it from the side. The fact that it is uglier than testicles that ran through a wood-chipper is enough to make the mechanicals irrelevant. F-
