  1. The CVT in my 1959 Buick works like new.
  2. Robert Frost
  3. Don't much care for SAAB myself but if they stop hemorrhaging GM's money I will have no problem with them. I do think that their "beauty of FWD" defense is lame... at least in the 1970s & 1980s they made cool stuff that still had longitudinaly mounted motors like the old 900s.
  4. I've also seen speeds of north 140 mph. The highest speed I've ever gotten pulled over for was 99mph. That was in my 4.1 liter DOHC V8 powered 1997 Infiniti Q45 and the cop told me I had good reflexes. XP was in the passanger seat taking a photo of the dash displaying a solid 120+ mph when he started screaming Cop! COP!! COP!!!! Because I pulled over before he even had a chance to turn his lights on he was very forgiving. Wicked polite and respectful on both sides. There's only a few cars I've gone over 140mph in: 1999 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 6-speed (Jet Black, T-top) 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra 5-speed (not SpeedingPenguin's but one EXACTLY like it) my very own 1968 Chevrolet Camaro (drive a 35 year old Camaro w/ over 185,000 miles at 140 & you will know what 200mph feels like in a new car) I've also hit the electronic speed limiter in several cars... 1997 Cadillac STS (more times than I can count on both hands) 2000 VW Jetta 1.8T 1997 Infiniti Q45 2002 Pontiac Grand Am GT1 1999 Cadillac STS More BRAND new Chevrolet/Pontiac cars/trucks than I care to admit (used to sell them brand new) I've also been in the passanger seat of a 1990 VW Corrado G60 with about $10,000 of suspension & motor work when my friend Mike was driving it at between 75-130mph on back roads & through a lake-side road that bends & dips through rows of trees. That scared the $hit out of me, one mistake & we would have been nothing but a oil/blood stain on one of the trees.
  5. Mercury (as in marine)
  6. It's on. We will be leaving around noon on Tuesday the the 12th. The B-59 still has a few issues that need to be solved, radial tires are STILL not present but they should be on the car tomorrow. As far as the cooling issues the saga continues. I work well under pressure.
  7. Scrap the Patriot Act. RIGHT NOW. It is one of the most UN-patriotic acts in the 231 year history of this country.
  8. My financial situation IS in the process of getting complicated but if I can not afford to buy an occassional $412 beater wagon than I will be pretty much f%$*ed. So far I've been semi-successful at keeping things on an even keel with Marcia. I keep reminding her that if not for me for Sofia's sake we need to be reasonable.
  9. Subtle is an understatement.
  10. The Tundra sucks, plain & simple. There's no getting around that bed bouncing like a piece of amethist in a tumbler.
  11. Congrats! Pearl White is ubber cool, but it would take more than that to make up for FWD & an automatic trans. if it was up to me...
  12. That sucks. Why colaborate with the Chinese?
  13. The Redneck solution to your problem is to turn up the radio. Either way it will not effect safety or reliability.
  14. Scumbag
  15. Talk about over saturating the marketplace.
  16. It even looks like an ugly Bull Frog. French people should not be alowed to make cars. At least not post-WWII.
  17. Looking good. Paint her up in Yellow Pearl. I had a lot of fun in my 3rd gen. Firebird. My 350 was carburated & bought as a truck crate motor brand new out of a GM dealer after the car was saved from the jnukyard with a blown 305. By the time I sold it it had about 195K miles on the body & about half that on the 350 crate.
  18. Yes, I was going to PM or call you about that. The title and all everything else will be on their way to you ASAP.
  19. The night I hung a new muffler on the Super 88 with XP's help we decided to take a random roadtrip to Boston with it. On the way back right by my house a Possum ran out and stopped in the middle of the road, I put him in the center of the car, being too late to stop... that way he was right in between the wheels... But as we passed over him he heard a solid, gut wrenching THUD as the exhaust hanger crushed his craneum. Then also last fall on a warm afternoon I did my best to avoid a black squirell that ran out in front of the Datsun, but he ran right under my passanger tire anyway. The Roadmonster has killed a giant buff frog. I never run over anything on purpose, I do not need the bad karma.
  20. Now that I have broken my "nothing newer than a 1979" rule & bought a 1994 B-body I think owning a new 5th generation Camaro is inevitable...
  21. $29K in 1990??? Insane. I'm pretty sure I would have bought a 1989 Turbo Trans Am or a GMC Typhoon instead. XP is right, too much $$$... his reserve is probably enough to buy a pre-war Olds.
  22. Fly: Got your check out of my mailbox a few hours ago. Thank You. The car will be safe & sound meantime... looking forward to meeting you when you come to pick it up. Now you are the 2nd C&G member to buy a car from me. XP's got my Banana Boat.
  23. More exciting than watching paint dry.... esp. the Premio.
  24. I agree about the awsome & legendary B-17.
