  1. What kind of a looser installs an (vocal) alarm on a 1966 classic? That's retarded... just install a ignition cutoff switch like normal people & put on a "club". They're silly looking but effective!
  2. Funny stuff. So speeding on admitedly bald tires, in the snow is what you call smart maintenance? http://www.cheersandgears.com/forums/index...15074&st=20 Not to mention that you've owned a Grand Am for like 2 years and driven it a total of like 6 weeks all in all. C'mon now, no need to get personal, otherwise we can delve into your two dozen "I f*** up my car again" threads. Now as far as your response Siegen: If you're spending $15,000 to build up a motor in an econobox commuter car that will be worth somewhere between a fraction of that in the end cause it's a hacked up FWD drag car then you either have too much expendable income or you need a math & economics lesson. If I had $15,000 to spend on a drag car I'd buy a 1969 Camaro with a decent SBC or if I was a pu$$y about it like most kids today and classic cars scared me I'd just buy a used 4.6 Mustang 5-speed.
  3. Not very original... more handsome than the old one though.
  4. Holy Cow! Thanks for the links. I don't think the Cutty pump will do however... I might be wrong however. The guy who rebuilds them said on the phone that the full size & intermediates do not share pumps at all.... still that's not written in stone. The gasket you posted seems to be (almost certain) the engine-to-pump gasket which seals the oil but not fuel. My pump failed internally so it's gushing fuel all over the road. Dangerous for sure. XP and I had the fire extinguisher at ready on the way back. we drove like 128 out of the 130 miles the trip was roudtrip.... then about 3 miles way from my house is when the pressure became too weak for the car to run. The carb is bone dry but the frame, exhausts & oil pan were covered with gasoline.
  5. Satty: I've seen planty of Hondas run 11 second 1/4 mile times...... . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .......ONCE! Then it's back to the junkyard for another motor & trans back to garrett for another 500psi turbo and back to J.C. whitney for anohter $800 NOS kit. I challenge anyone wiht a Honda that has $5000 (TOTAL) invested in it, w/ 183,000 miles & running junkyard tires to run a 13.9 @ 102mph with Natrual aspiration..... fair is fair. 16 valves versus 16 valves. BRING IT! Now as far as you B.V. your experience with one beat up Blazer makes you hate them all.... no offense but your family seems to beat the piss out of their vehicles and not do so well in the routine maintenance dept. $h! I'd imagine you or one of your family members would probably be able to manage separating a B-body's nose from it's frame in 30 sec. flat, you have bad luck and you're hard on your vehicles. Everything you do behind the wheel has its consequences. You may think that it doesn't but there's always a link between even the most seemingly unrelated breakage/failed component & the abuse the car/truck endured prior to it, a day before or maybe a decade before. I'm hard on some of my vehicles at times... but then I'm not bitching about a squeaky ball joint on a Blazer or a worn out set of brake pads after only 30K miles. No disrespect, just calling it like I see it.
  6. I know the Henry J was the Ford escort of its day, but just from a stylistic standpoint I love it. I'll buy a rotted one someday & throw it on a S10 frame with 350 SBc power & a 12 bolt rear, wheelie bars 7 M/T drag radials. moving right along:
  7. Camino: My Grandfather (mother's side) was a seaoned hunter, hiker & nature expert back in Slovakia. This man knew all kinds of crazy trails through the middle of nowhere... One time we hiked out to the ruins of a castle out in Western Slovakia for a couple miles away from the nearest dirt road. It was some old fortress/castle those damn turks/huns had destroyed back in the 14th century and it never got rebuilt. Centuries later though most of the destroyed/burned structure is still there. On that one hike alone we saw a Lynx up in a tree just staring at us, not a care in the world... a deer family including a little Bambi lookalike, a bunch of birds, salamanders & even some wild boars from quite a distance. I love those memories btu I don't ever recall having a mountain lion sighting.
  8. What a stunning but unorthodox Dual cowl Phaeton. 1983 Cadillac C!marron concept car (also a d.c.p.)
  9. That's the funniest thing you've EVER posted B.V.
  10. bitting tongue....
  11. I say there will three V8s... maybe not in the 1st model year, but eventually.
  12. No... it's a long story but basically the company that used to make them told me to #%$@! myself unless I wanted a generic electric pump. I do not beleive in cutting inot 42 year old wiring to put in a stupid electric fuel pump on a 1964 car. So this means I have to drive down to south Boston and drop off the pump, then wait for it to be rebuilt. It's only a $90 cost at MOST to rebuild it, probably $70, but at this point it's more an issue of time. As far as the '59.... yes it's a 2dr post but many times a 2 door post is still easier to unload than a 4 door hardtop. It seems there's a thousand flat tops out there, perhaps I'll trade it for a flat top (4dr hardtop) to someone on BUICK-59.com who wants a more sporty car. This LeSabre would be the perfect car for some nutcase who wants a ridgid drag car. I feel like I'm selling out 10% but then again going for my dream 90%. Now that I have driven my Super 88 almost 2500 miles I'm ready for the 1950s, the timing is crapy but this is the first time a 1959 Buick has been available locally and even this one is 2 hours away. I drove to N.J. in the fall of 2005 and looked at one with Balthazar, then in Spring of 2006 I looked at the one up in Maine & a few months ago there was a 2dr HT in the weeds behind a guy's house in NH... it was pretty much a parts car and the guy wanted $2800. Then let's not forget the one that was sold before I even called, and although it did not sound much nicer than this LeSabre it was twice the money, non-running. (just out of "storage")
  13. Dude... "most people do not care about drivewheels, remember...?" And who says Buick can't have Three sedans?!
  14. Porsche 356 LeMans race car (shares front wheel skirts with the upside down bathtub)
  15. KnightFan: You know I saw that coming.... I KNEW someone would point out the other two E-bodys from the 1980s. I'll say OKAY to all three, if only for the fact that their motors were positioned in the most balanced, conveniant and logical way possible. A FWD car with a lengthwise mounted motor is like a murdering convict who opens up the throat of a child molester with a shank made from a toothbrush, there's some redeming quality there.
  16. Not a huge fan of Dice... but O&A making fun of Dice... now THAT's FUNNY!!! It's Dice on Ice... "first I'm ovah hea' den I do a littl' loop-de-loo & BAM! I'm ovah dere wa-bam, it's MAgik... "
  17. I've outrun a few animals in my day.... but I would NOT want to be in that scenario. On the other hand I have a sick fascination with Snakes. I'd love to survive s snake bite & then have a big taxidermied rattlesnake up on my mantle for a conversation piece... but if it was THE actual snake. Also, I'm not a fan of the water. Sharks are small part of the reason I'm not all about owning a boat & swiming out in the ocean. It's not out of fear so much as respect.
  18. Habla
  19. I hope we get at least TWO Zetas per division. In a perfect world Chevy, Buick & Pontiac would all get FOUR (two 2-doors & two 4-doors) So this is the way I see it. I'm just saying best case scenario.... I'm not holding my breath. SMALL 2-door hardtop: - Buick Regal or Skylark (optional G.N. package) - Chevrolet Camaro - Pontiac Firebird BIG 2-door hardtop: - Buick Riviera - Chevrolet Monte Carlo - Pontiac Tempest/GTO SWB 4-door sedans: - Buick Invicta - Chevrolet Chevelle - Pontiac Grand Prix (f*ck the G8 moniker) LWB 4-door sedans: - Buick Electra - Chevrolet Impala (or Caprice Classic) - Pontiac Catalina That's in a perfect world. :AH-HA_wink:
  20. Back in June of 2006 when I bought this car I did NOT think this day would come so soon. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1964-Oldsmo...1QQcmdZViewItem If a member of C&G buys it (on eBay) I'll donate 5% of the gross profit to this forum.
  21. Fly: What do you despise so much about the Henry J? 1962 rambler American
  22. stone
  23. Wow... I love it. A+++ I can't beleive we went 9 posts before someone noticed the new Pontiac Logo. It's been a half cetury since the Pontiac logo was reworked as the Arrowhead.
