Oldsmoboi: Are you serious? Who didn't? I thought it was common knowledge like the fact that we all know G.H.Bush (Sr.) was a WWII fighter pilot in the pacific and got shot down in air combat in a Wildcat... (or was it Hellcat?) fighter, it sank into the ocean and he was a sitting duck untill he got picked up... it was 1943 IIRC. If memory serves me correct McCain's captors tortured him, broke his arms & starved him. He was a POW for like 5 or 6 years!? Despite anything I don't like about the guy that kind of torture, suffering & anguish I can not even imgine, AAAAAND then again there's other POWs who say he exagerated his experience, refused to give crredit to the Vietnamese guy (some peasant) who saved his life by preventing McCain from drowning etc...

Sharp looking for a modern FWD "transport-pod" but still, it's "assembled in China"

Geezus, it's official, originality has LEFT the building at HONDA. Fer-Krist's sake, could they have tried any less to copy the Pri-sss? Eample number 5,256,397 of the Japanese, esp. Hon-DUH & Toyopet immitating, NOT innovating.

45-speed record, played on the 33.3 rpm setting, backwards, 27 seconds in: KILL YOUR FAMILY!!! ALL HAIL SATAN, LORD OF DARKNESS, OBAMA!!!

DF: I was kiddign in my previous post but all joking aside the modern LX-MB based Chargers have big shoes to fill as the 60s 440-powered Mopar police cars are the stuff of legend. Yup... that's outright idiotic. Maybe the Metermaid in Liverpool that drives no faster than 25mph & averages 12 miles a typical 8-hour day can live with an Austin Mini but let's get real: Even these MB-based, & relatively durrable (for a unibody) Mopars are showing many signs of premature wear to the chassis, suspension and other hardware, directly related to their much more inferior (we're talking utlity here) unibody design as opposed to the BOF 9C1 Caprices & Crown Vic Interceptors. Still, stylisticaly they're pretty damn intimidating.... though I still think a typical Hemi-powered '09 Charger will piss its pants at the sight of my B-59 @ 90mph!

FWD, unibody, northstar powered cop car? LAME! Now a (9C1-equipt.) LT1 powered '94-'96 Caddy Fleetwood Brougham would -OWN- that squishy, akward deVille for lunch like a BLT, even on a bad opti-spark-day. ------- DF: Shame on you, you call yourself a MOPAR fan?!? The LX-based Charger is wicked cool but it pales in comparison to the classic Mopar cop cars of the 1950s, 1960s and early-1970s! THIS is what I'm talking about: Imagine a mid-1950s Chrysler, Plymouth or Dodge cruiser, you know, with a REAL hemi under-hood, awesome styling, giant gumdrop light and big, chrome spotlights.

Let's face it, the Pacer is not exactly the stuff dreams are made of, unless you're a real nerd or weirdo, HOWEVER, in 2008 America, an era when Accords, Camrys and Fusions are considered to be 'midsize' cars, and a Corolla is a car that people actually ASPIRE to drive how can you NOT give props to the Pacer for being wacky, original & innnovative? I wish more cars were like that today, but these days Honda Elements pass for "cars". AMC always marched to the beat of their own drummer. Most of the time that was cool, but at times it was downright bizzare/ugly. The Pacer is cool, the Gremlin even cooler and the Javelin & AMX are haaaawt. Speaking of which I wonder if I can someday make a comprehensive list of all the HARDTOP Police cars that existed durring the hardtop "era" of 1949-1978. Prob. not many at all, even those years police packages automatically meant the stripped out cheapie POST sedan 4dr. Very true. If these A-bodies were made by FoMoCo the brochre would proclaim them to be: "pillared hardtops"

and as far as that (awkward) annalogy I'm meerly saying 1/2 scale in terms of the displacement & size (mostly concernd with length) I'm sick of many of the dopes & negative-nellys here on the forum implying that IF a V16 would be made the fuel economy would be atrocious. Why? Does a V16 have to displace 10.5 liters and be as long as two 5.3 V8s out of a Chevy Silverado? NO, bull$h! it does. A clean-sheet, mini-displacement (as relative to the cylinder) V16 with the right gearing could do excellent on MPGs... The Sixteen concept was made in 2002 so fuel prices were NOT a big concern. Does a V16 Caillac need 1000 horsepower? Hell no, even a 300hp Northstar is way more than anyone will ever NEED, but in this day & age a 6.0 liter V16 that would put out silky smooth, natrually aspired 500 horsepower on 93 octane with about the length of a BMW V12 would be Automotive heaven.
-
I know Balthy.... but I am not a millionare and therefore something I dream of commissioning in the REAL world, would be a "fusing" of two relatively bread & butter V8s. Now if I could dream up (and FINANCE) something wacky like a V16 based on two pre-war Packard, Pontiac or Buick V8s, that would be much more fittig of the IDEA of a V16. And the way things are buttered together these days basing a new V16 on an existing V8 would natrually be more realistic... not that, if the money was there, it would not make sense to design a ground up V16 motor for Cadillac that would share NOTHING with the more pedestrian V8s. (be it No* or SCB)

I'm a big fan of chrome. LOOOOve brightwork. -
no, no, NO, NO! It was Hill666ry Rod-ham Clinton that started that nonsense, was it not... If I had my way I'd ship 'em all to a big, scummy, dirty "pathalogical lier, theif & sociopath" delinquent home! (all politicians that is)

Lamar: Born 100% Slovakian in 1979, immigrated to USA in 1987. --- SMK: Kill Hummer and Saab, YES! But go anywhere near Buick, Pontiac, Chevrolet or Cadillac & I swear to god I;'ll pull the pin out of this grenade! -
Oh... I thought this was about "Detroit" as in the Automotive Domestic Three. This guy seems like a real scumbag, typical politician.
-
Yup... this election reminds me of what it would be like to be stuck in some podunk airport with only two rental cars left: Either a Peptol-pink Aveo or an aquamarine Honda Fit.

Great song, not sure of the politics behind it but it grew on me instantly when I heard it a couple months ago. Funny thingn is I have not heard it in weeks but it was stuck in my head this AM as I set it as my alarm clock ono my cell phone... it was going on and on in my head this (EARLY) morning untill finally while loading UPS trucks I yelled over to my co-worker to my left: "I can end the world in a HOLOCAUST!" Thought I'd get a blank/worried stare but he just picked it up and started singing it...

White Zombie, Astro-creep:2000 specifically... the song "I, Zombie" just ended & I'm listening to the porn girl moans in the intro to "More HUman Than Human"

well.... untill Bush came along I always thought Republicans were the lesser of the two evils, but Bush sucks as a Rep. & it seems in general the terms "republican" & "democrat" do not mean what they did prior to 2001.

hyperv6: maybe someday you can attend a car show and look over a '57 Pontiac,'57 Chevrolet, '57 Buick,'57 Olds & a '57 Cadillac and THEN you can get back to us about the facts , right now you're coming off like quite the ignorant arm-chair car fan. -
We are an ALL Buick family now...

That's funny, bot funny as in "hahaha" and as in weird. Well, if nothing else this thing is better proportioned than 90% of today's cars, esp. USA spec econoboxes! Almost reminds of a city-car with Chrysler 300 dna. http://img.worldcarfans.com/US/2008/1/28/9...010.Mini12L.jpg -
wow.... must have been tired or sleep deprived, hilborn, of course. You Sir, are a true car enthusiast!

Satty: I agree with 97.5% of what you said. Fact is, that gun laws that are more strict ad make law-abiding citizens jump through hoops are just pain dumb, ESP. when the freekin' majority of the instances where guns are used to aid in or as a part of a criminal act the gun is stolen, unregistered & orsome other combo. of ILLEGAL. As far asguns laws are concered (here's that other 2.5%) Iwholeheartedly beleive that if you have a clean record & are a law abiding citizen, you sould be abe to ow how ever many guns, of any type as you can afford. Cars kill more people than guns, yet if I ever find myself in a financial position to own about 200 classic cars/trucks I will thank YOU, our state & local goverments from teling me how many I can & can't have. ---- Now as far Liberman, McCain is liberal ENOUGH without him. There's a LOT of smoke & mirrors in this election, remember Hillary (and by extenson Billy F.C. & even Liberman) want Obama to lose so that SHE can run again in 2012 and be the knight in shinning armourwho rescues the USA from the clutches of the evill republicans. Amen!!!

So wat, throw in the towel? Do you really think cadillac will return to consistant, healthy profitabiity with a bunch of crap that is mediocre & lame? Fuc%ing put a dune cap on that retard, must be the same dope who tought the DTS should get a few more refresh wham-bam-thank-you-mams and it will keep seling like hotcakes, the new SRX is no better and no less pathetic than the damn C!marron was in 1982... since the Equinox is the 2008 equivelat of a J-body wagon! If I was not a lifelong, diehard GM fan I'd be on Infiniti, BMW & Mercedes forums for years now, never looking back at GM's pathetic attempts at clutcing at market share by STILL, 2 decades after the almighty W-body wrote the book on a 97.5% FWD mega-giant car builder, by throwing more FWD $h!boxes at the consumers and pretending somehow another FWD crapbox will sell THIS time if it wears a Cadillac crest! -

No, of course not. First off I owe you apology for that, I guess you just came off like some of the angi-GM, negative Troll.... we get those from time to time. people who have nothing positive to say get on this forum, pull the pin out of grenade, toss it into a few threadsand then they scram... it bugs the crap out of me. Again, making half-assed product andtrying too sell uninspired cars for the better part of the last 1/4 century is at least partially to blame for how GM got in this mess to begin with! And the SIXTEEN, if replicated in a limited run of say 1600 cars total would, should cost more than $150,000. Probably twice that. In any case the middle eastern sheik who offered $10,000,000 for the concept is a great indication of how priceless such a timeless classic would be. It would sell millions of posters andappear in every damn magazie from Business Week to Kids' ESPN... it would be the face that would lauch a thousand ships, millions of kids would drool at it when it would, no in tless TV shows, rap/rock/country music videos and a whole new generation would be hooked on Cadillacs, instead of Bentley , BMW & other makes that have more curbside appeal to Gen.Y. What al of you are forgeting is the publicity factor. Agreed, I've been on both sides of the fence. I will be the first to say that GM's dealer network is an achile's heel... actually they're practically the enemy in some cases. -- however -- Building amodern day sixteen cylinder ultra-luxury car has little to do with the dealer network, that needs to be fixed regardless... even to sell $38,000 CTS out of their current dealer networkhas its problems. Good for you, congrats on the choice of RWD Cadillac. -
BTW Oldsmoboi: Your signature has a lot of weight to it. If only the typical American had a clue about the reality of the USA in 2008, but these days American Idol & the latest "scandal" involving some stupid worthless resident of hollywood seem to be more relevant to people than paying attention to REAL events. --- My take? McCain (McAmnesty) sucks haaaaardcore and Obama is worse still. I was very optimistic about Obama when I started listening to what & who he supports, but as it turns out the Dems. have managed to pick ANOTHER unelectable candidate. I hope McCain wins, if only because the ubber-liberal Obama scares the heck out of me. My ideal prez.? - HARDLINE republican in terms of PROTECTING individual liberties! - Pro-Small Government, like a TRUE Rep. should be. - More relaxed gun laws for REGISTERED gun owners (you know, the NON-criminals!) - Pro-union, to a realistic degree - Socially liberal.... I'm pro-choice but only to a degree, NOTHING past 1st term. - Not a pu$$y like Gore or Kerry, but someone who will pull us out of Iraq - Progressive, idealistic but not a dope e.g. Keep (manufacturing) jobs in the USA, stop the outsourcing hemoraging In a perfect world: all the qualities mentioned, in a Condolesa Rice package. Smarts, minority is fine as is two X chromosones & a primary focus on the economy. --
