Cobalt Sedan + MB tail lights + crushed Toyota AA duct taped to the front overhang cow-catcher style = What if the Airflow was resurrected in 2008, 100% parts bin style with an EPIC front "hang-over" (overhang)

Ore-Ida: ewwwww.... I suppose you also love imitation crab meat and that pretend-bacon too

I make a killer french fry myself. It's all about KISS. "Keep It Simple Stupid". 1. Don't use some healthy-balanced-diet-BS oil. CORN 100% straight up. 2. Cut the fries as thick as a no.2 pencil for crispy, as fat as a Sharpie for chewy (i like a 50/50 mix) 3. Keep the skin on, but scrub the potatoes under running water to clean 4. the oil has to be really HOT, like 400* hot. 5. Wait for it to heat up, test by throwing in a small crumb or tater chunk, it should bubble up and sizzle 6. For crispy fries take out the fries only after they turn golden brown.

Differance is.... while it may not appeal to 99% of the sheeple out there in 2008, I work it. It's not some retarded theory I'm putting out there but rather the voice of reason. I, for one, prefer the classics in almost every way... modern CD-players with HD/XM capab. & I-pod jacks can be easily retrofitted into anything including a '23 Model-T so long as it's converted to 12V. Same for seatbelts, cup holders & even an SBC with fuel injection. And when you drive it for 5 years and go to sell it you get most of not all and in some cases MORE than what you paid/invested. I got to drive a 1968 Camaro for 4 years off and on, even as a daily and my ONLY car for a while, and it depreciated less than $250 out of the $5000 I paid, and thing is, my TOTAL cost of maintenance including oil changes was less than $1,000 for those four years. Classics FTW Now how in the hell is anything I just posted CONTRADICTORY to modern science, laws of physics & the logic of nearly 5 billion people who all agree on the concept of a sperecal globe?

Forced induction Duesenbergs had the capability of 160mph, almost 4 decades prior to the advent of radial tires on production cars, amazing to think, when you consider the amount of cars on the road incapable of 40mph, when an SJ Duesy could accomplish 4 times that. The 1980s political correctness of 80 or 85 MPH max was stupid...

You guys missed my point. Here's my logic: Let's take an average Fit.... $16,000 purchase price is about realistic, if anything it's on the low side. MY way of dealing with $3.59/gallon gas? $16,000 - $6,000 = $10,000 $10k buys you almost any gorgeous big full size car from the late '60s right now... so I would find a true hardtop, BIG-cube, RWD, LIVE rear axle boat like a Cadillac and or an Imperial, buy it and you have $6000+ to spend on gas. Assuming horrfic milage, say 7mpg (even a 500-cubic inch [8.2 litre]-powered, 5000lbs. Caddy will do 7) $6000 / $3.50 gallon = 1714 gallons of gas 1714 gallons of gas moves a 7-mpg tank EXACTLY to the decimal point, 12,000 miles down the road. So again, you guys want to insult me about how I'm not living in "reality"? The "reality" is that I could buy one of my dream cars, and drive it 12,000 miles (for free!) before your modern-utopia-approved Honda $h!pile that disgusts me in a dozen ways, is paid for, gas excluded! Explain to me how in the heck any of you, bieng automotive enthusiasts, can justify giving complements to these sardine cans?

Wow... it seems just when you think they have hit rock bottom in terms of styling, Toyota just LOVES to set the bar even lower!

Remembering those that died in the 9/11 attacks
Sixty8panther replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in The Lounge
Yes, it is a sad, dark memory to me. The thing is, as horrific and tragic the 3000 lost lives were, the bigger tragedy is the scars it left on the nation. And in the end the USA will prob. never be the same again. Let me ask you a very deep question: What good is it to protect the USA by taking away civil liberties? The whole reason why the USA kicks a$$ so much is our way of life, our freedoms & peace of mind, and all of that is being sacraficed on the altar of the Patriot Act. Many of our Founding Fathers & 18th century revolutionary war heroes are spinning in their graves, that's for sure. -
hahahaah... "charge stations" would make sense at starbucks, the supermarket & other public places where people spend 1+ hours... also any workplace that wants to look green would do so I would imagine. 6, 7 or 8 hours is a good time frame for a partial, if not complete charge. Either way, you guys are forgeting that we've already discussed & most of us collectivelly agreed that emulating Toyota styling is BAD for GM. I, for one and 100% turned off to this melted blob of midsize sedan. No matter how good the technology without curb appeal I'm NOT interested.

I'm not knocking it... BOF-big-cube-(V8) or diesel power with RWD can't be wrong, esp. with a nearly indestructible shell!
-
66S: That was a horrible insut to the LM2000!!! That vehicle was/is functional and also designed in the late 1970s. This Toyota can't hold a candle to it. ----- DF: Sooooooo.... are you going to share the G.Marq's MPG numbers?
-
Ummmm... they made 69 (as in one less than seventy) ZL-1 Camaros. The rarity of ZL-1 Camaros make Hemi-Cudas look almost pedestrian by comparison. ou sure your neighbor wasn't pulling your leg? Maybe he had an iron-block 427 COPO? That would still be mega cool!
-
The death of political Correctness needs to happen. Now. ...actually like 1998.
-
Hmmmm..... what's her driver anyway? The only way this news could get cooler would be if she drove a CTS-V and had a classic GM car in the garage! Like maybe a '55 Oldsmobile 98 2-door hardtop? or a '67 Chevy Impala 2-door hardtop fastback?

Honestly..... with Amelia about to arrive ANY second, Julie is due Nov. 7th but doctors have said all along that she'll probably be 4-6 weeks early, so I should just keep my ugly, beat-up but reliable and safe RoadmOnster and stop flipping cars for at least the rest of 2008... ....but then again, old habits die hard!

Having been born in Slovakia in 1979 and immigrated here to the USA in 1987 without being able to speak a word of English I can def. agree with that. It's absolutely annoying to have someone assume I do/should speak English. And WHY the F$ do I have to waste (collectively) 20 min. every month pressing "#1 for English"???
-
I just have no room in my heart (or wallet) for these '70s cars.... esp. with millions of '50s & '60s hardtops out there that can be had for the same $.
-
That would be sad.... if this bland-box, shaped like a piece of whale-blubber soap replaced the HHR, which even though it has FWD proportions, is one of the best most unique non-Corvette cars Chevrolet has built in over a decade.
-
I will agree that the NEW Fit makes the old one look like a dog-turd art sculpture. Still, I'd never go with anything other than a MINI-coop if I wanted/needed a car of this size/MPG category.... ...now back to my search for a 440-powered Fuselage Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler or Imperial (4-door hardtop) from the late '60s or early '70s on Craig's
-
NO it does NOT... maybe it's in your cookie but why do you think DF & I both said it was removed...? This is all the link shows for ME. NOw I looked around myself in a search from scratch and found some scam artist with a '71 Hemi-'Cuda "clone" for about 03.75% of it's street value in drug-laced money... "Email only!!!!" of course.
-
I'm still waiting for Dodgefan... I think he took a roadtrip down pikes peek with the #s he quoted me.

Buy a used International-based Brinks truck.
-
Gorgeous... very cool. and YES, it would be much cooler and classier with a MB-CLK style pillarless greenhouse.
-
"flagged for removal" what-was-it!?!? what-was-it!?!? what-was-it!?!? what-was-it!?!? what-was-it!?!? 452-powered Cadillac dual cowl phaeton bodied by Dietrich? (hope springs eternal)

FUTURE PRODUCTS -- GENERAL MOTORS
Sixty8panther replied to Oracle of Delphi's topic in Heritage Marques
Yes. True. I for one say thank you. I'm more than happy to retract an inaccurate statement from time to time based on your incredible experience in all things GM, classic cars, esp. mechanical guts etc... your vast library (which I witnessed back in 2005) and seemingly photogrphic memory of the subject are impressive. You Sir, are a huge asset to this site and I for one would feel as is a HUGE chunk would be missing if you ever left. As I've mentioned a few times in the past, it was my buddy Duffy who implanted the seed of future '59 Buick ownership in my head, so many moons ago.... and your Avatar of the angry canted all seeing Invicta headlights was what made me sit up, take notice and decide to go balls-deep and get one of the coolest of the classic 1950s finned wonders. I look forward to your participation on C&G & you can bet your nicest set of 8-lug Pontiac drums that I will be in New Jersey as soon as humanly possible after the "WQ59B" is done to get a ride in the sickest custom on the east coast, bar none!
