    Audi Gets Q2 and Q4 Trademarks From FCA

      Q2 and Q4 Are Now Under Audi's Control

    Audi can now use Q2 and Q4 for future models thanks a new deal with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.

     

    Audi CEO Rupert Stadler tells Autoblog that the German automaker has done a trademark swap to get their hands on Q2 and Q4. It is unknown what FCA got out of the deal.

     

    "We tried to get it years ago and they said 'No, never,' but there is never 'never' in business. ... This year I went back to them with a proposal and we talked and there were some negotiations and then we agreed to it," said Stadler.

     

    Q2 was used by FCA to denote vehicles equipped with a limited-slip differential (mostly used on Alfa Romeo vehicles). Q4 denoted vehicles with all-wheel drive (used on Alfa Romeo and Maserati vehicles).

     

    Audi plans to use Q2 and Q4 on upcoming crossovers. The Q2 will be used for a crossover based on the MQB platform and Q4 will be on a coupe-like version of the Q3.

    And the Confusion will continue and go from there for Audi CUV's and Cars. Their naming convention is so confusing that it is amazing anyone can figure it out. Q# for all the auto's and does not really help clarify car, CUV,SUV. I so hate this naming. Idiots in Marketing that cannot seem to come up with a proper way to differentiate between them.

    Article seemed clear enough..the Q1 will be a subcompact CUV, Q2 will be a compact sized CUV, the Q4 will be an X4 competitor.. CUVs for every budget and size niche...following the same patterns of BMW and M-B, fill every niche and niches between niches and within niches...

    You are correct. Q = SUV/CUV for Audi

     

    Okay, I thought so.

     

    I guess I was confused by dfelt's post saying it's confusing. I actually think Audi has one of the clearer naming systems of Q# being all SUV/CUVs and A# being all cars(okay I guess the R8 is an exception).

     

    Alright I just went to their site and the models that confuse things are the R8 and TT as they're kind of their own thing, not actually confusing if you ask me. Buuuuut the one lone bird is the A3 Sportback e-tron. That's listed under their SUVs/Crossovers/Wagons.

      That's kind of my point though. "any major city with federal buildings" and it certainly isn't the case. Again, I'm sure it is the case in some cities, but it isn't a blanket statement that's true.

      Maybe, just maybe, that is because you don't live in a target city or state as designated by the lead moron in D.C. The same mechanisms exist in the Fed building across the street from you as does the one's in Seattle or Portland. Don't let complicity disguise the actually facts.

      Reminds me of the mid 80's Monte Carlo Areo SS that I loved. Would love to have one as a project auto, but doubt I ever will as I would want it electrified. Moved into that next phase of life around grand kids. no time.

      As weird as it sounds, I'd love to have a '77-79 Impala 2dr or Caprice 2dr as a hobby car.  Straight 6 or 305 would be fine...I've just always liked that rear window and the overall shape.   I really need to get back out to the PNW for a vacation...been a long time since I've been out there.

      I wholeheartedly agree.  The '77 had the cleaner vertical bars with the stacked lamps as opposed to the '76's diamond hatch grill. Back then, there were a lot of options and not everything was put into strict and limited packages. It would have been nice to get the plush up-level interior, the gauge package, and a tilt wheel, yet not put on too many of the electric gizmos. On the exterior, those spirograph wheels are actually wheel covers, hence susceptible to sticky fingers. But they look mighty fine. Then, you'd need dual body colored sport mirrors to go with all that.  Pass on a vinyl roof. Now here's where I might be crazy.  I would just get the basic standard engine.  It was the 250 cubic inch inline 6 by Chevrolet.  Those have a 7 main bearing crank and they are in it for the long haul.  They purr differently than does a V8, but they were definitely smoother than the V6 (by Buick) of that day.  So that's a package that features the looks inside and out, but also has a simple and reliable DIY setup in the engine bay.  You'll just have to live with 105 horses.  People may honk at you! I'm glad you like this car.  Sometimes I feel like I'm the only person on this forum who carries a big torch for the GM colonnades.  And that my detailed knowledge of them is nerdy! Happy hump day, folks.  It's also Whopper Wednesday.
