Rumorpile: What We Know On The Alfa Romeo Giulia

    August 9, 2012

When we last checked in on the Alfa Romeo Giulia, it was being delayed due to the engines not being ready in time. Before this, it was due to design and manufacturing issues.

Now, Autocar has some information on what we can expect with the new Giulia. To be launched sometime in 2014, the Giulia will be a part of a revival plan that includes the 4C and Spider. The Giulia will utilize an updated version of the Dodge Dart's platform. Those updates include a longer-wheelbase and a new independent rear suspension.

Powertrains are expected to include turbocharged gas four-cylinders, diesels, and Chrysler's Pentastar V6. All-wheel-drive is also in the cards.

No one at the moment knows what the Giulia will look like, only that the design is expected to be finalized sometime in the fall and a concept to appear next year.

Am I missing something or is the red car in the photo not the concept that everyone loved for the most part? Why a new concept before moving forward?

That red car is the Alfa Romeo 159, what the Giulia will be replacing

    • I’m sure most is garbage but I’m sure Michelin, Continental, and Maxxis all make a tire in that size.  I bought Continentals for my mountain bike a couple years ago and freakin love them. Some are made in China and some are made in Germany.

    • Part of me is just bone weary of human stupidity. Not you, others. China can make crap or excellent stuff, everything is built to a price point. But having to find 26 x 1 1/2 tires for an older bike my wife rides. Most of what is available is as you say cheap Chinese crap. sometimes I just want to buy something and have it work Patrick Henry may have just only begun fighting, Trump has only just begun destroying the American auto industry. Money talks, BS walks. Ottawa will indeed be a state capitol in the US at the rate we are going. Has become? Has always been.
    • Destruction of the U.S. by Idiot47 is now truly affecting the auto industry as Kia has released their latest Press Release and now Canada but not the U.S. will get the Kia EV5 SUV and production will be in Korea as due to the Morons in Georgia, Kia / Hyundai / Genesis are quietly stopping production of all new EV models. • Very interesting the U.S. Governments investment in Canadian mineral companies. Trump's Takeover Of Canadian Rare Earths Miners Raises Major Concerns Canadian companies seem happy to have the U.S. government buy up their stock; seems the auto industry will have access to North American rare earth minerals replacing China 100%. I can so see this happening as pissing off Canadians could easily make the government say NO to U.S. ownership of these companies. The Trump administration is investing in Canadian critical mineral companies. But Ottawa can stop it | CBC News
